At midnight, the moonlight was like water. In the forest, on the outskirts of the capital of Xu Kingdom, a woman in white was leaning against a tree. She lowered her eyes, her calm gaze stared at the newly turned sandy soil under her feet. It was moving.

Suddenly, a white hand popped out from under the ground.

Su Tai stiffly crawled out from the ground. Her limbs were both cold and frozen, and they did not listen to her commands. When she looked up, she saw the woman in white standing before her. The corners of her lips moved slightly, but before she could make a sound, the woman immediately said: “Don’t speak.”

“I am Bai Gui, and I want to take away the demon in your heart.” The woman said, “But your obsession is too heavy. You can’t let go of the things that happened during your life, and you hold the demon in your heart too tightly, so I can’t take it away.”

Su Tai did not understand Bai Gui’s words. The only thing that she felt was her empty abdomen. So as soon as she looked down, she immediately froze. She saw that her stomach and intestines were hanging all over the place outside her body, even the baby’s umbilical cord was among them. There was no blood. There was no pain. When she was alive, she studied medicine, so naturally she knew that she could not possibly survive in a situation like this, but she also knew that she was very clear-headed at the moment.

Su Tai was horrified and looked at the woman in front of her with uncertainty.

As if reading her thoughts, the woman nodded and said: “That’s right, your corpse came back to life. There’s still a single breath left inside your chest. Right now, you can only use your words once. Once your last breath is released, you will truly die.”

Su Tai lowered her eyes, quietly looking at the dead fetus on the ground, not knowing what was going on in her mind.

“Your obsession is too deep. In this lifetime, if these words fail to resolve the dilemmas in your heart, then after your death, you will inevitably become a malicious spirit and will never get to be reborn.” Bai Gui paused, “Have you carefully thought about what you’re going to say?”

Su Tai was silent for a long time, but she finally nodded. Even though she was not in a rush to speak, her hands shook slightly as she picked up her internal organs and unborn child. She expressed her helplessness as she looked around, not knowing where she could put them.

Bai Gui took out a needle and thread from her sleeve and gave it to Su Tai: “Let’s stitch you up.”

Su Tai took the needle and thread, then she placed her internal organs back in their original position. Unable to completely control her cold and stiff limbs to the point when she clumsily placed her stomach back in, her intestines would fall out. By the time she placed her baby back in, her movement paused, but then, stitch by stitch, she began to suture her wound. Her expression was flat. She did not grieve nor did she panic. She only did the thing that she should be doing firmly.

“Miss Su, I, A Gui, admire you.” As Bai Gui waved her sleeve, her figure disappeared into the night. In the forest, her breathy voice was the only thing that remained in the forest, “When you say that phrase, I will come again.”

When Su Tai finished suturing her body, she stood up stiffly and slowly adapted to her “new” body. Step by step, she walked out of the forest.

The sandy soil in the forest had just been dug up, underneath it lay countless corpses of Xu Kingdom’s soldiers. Xu Kingdom was wiped off the face of the earth. Therefore, from now on, she, Su Tai, no longer had a country, no longer had a home, no longer had a child, she just had her lonely self.
