Chapter 294 - Book 12 Chapter 4-3 A New Era: The Long Awaited 6 Years

Chapter 294: Book 12 Chapter 4-3 A New Era: The Long Awaited 6 Years

Namgoong-won was struck on the face and fell back. He was also quite tall, being around 6 feet and slightly muscular. But, compared to the Scorpion agent, he was lacking in strength and size.

Ugh~

Namgoong-won wiped the blood from his lips with his jacket sleeve and attempted to stand back up, but he couldn’t. The Scorpion agent had picked up the CS5 laser pistol that Namgoong-won had dropped, and was pointing it at him.

The situation was unfavorable to Namgoong-won due to his inexperience, but he had a wry smile on his face that Sergei Haritonov couldn’t help noticing.

“Fucking bastard! Who are you? Are you from the prime minister’s cabinet intelligence agency?”

That was his conclusion. The Scorpion agent seemed to think that Namgoong-won was an agent from the Japanese intelligence agency. Namgoong-won smiled slightly instead of answering.

“Fuck you, man! Are you laughing at me? I guess you’re not afraid to die!”

“Yes! I don’t fear death. Codename FH225, age 42, name Sergei Haritonov. You are a Russian American who served under Russia’s special forces, the Spetsnaz for 10 years before joining the Scorpions, right?”

Agent Haritonov couldn’t help but be in shock when the Asian man started to list out top-secret information related to his identity. He stared at Namgoong-won with a blank look on his face. He got back to his senses, regained his composure, and pulled the CS5 laser pistol’s trigger while speaking to Namgoong-won.

“Go tell people about that in your grave.”

Click~

“Argh!”

When Sergei Haritonov pulled the pistol’s trigger, a high heat burned his palm. The unimaginable heat caused burns on his hand, so he threw the pistol away and covered his palm with his clothes. Namgoong-won seemed to have predicted that and struck Sergei Haritonov on the face with his elbow.

When Agent Haritonov lost his balance and started to stumble, Namgoong-won pulled out the baton he was wearing on his hip and started to beat him indiscriminately. When the baton sent 2-3mA of electricity with each blow, Sergei Haritonov couldn’t move and fell to the ground while shaking from the shock. Namgoong-won took a moment to catch his breath and grabbed the CS5 laser pistol that had caused third-degree burns on Sergei Haritonov’s palm.

The underground research facility had created the laser personal firearms, but also added a failsafe to the weapons to prevent enemies or other people from using them. The handle had a chip that would scan for biological information. If anyone who wasn’t registered attempted to use the weapon, it would emit high heat and burn whoever attempted to use it.

“Ugh.”

Namgoong-won pointed the barrel of the CS5 laser pistol to the back of Sergei Haritonov’s head, who was shaking on the floor with foam in his mouth. He spoke to him in a cold but calm tone, “2015, December 19th, 10:13 am. Do you remember the three-story house at Suyu in Kangbook, Seoul?”

Sergei Haritonov slowly regained consciousness. He turned his head around and spoke while looking at Namgoong-won pointing the gun at him, “How would I remember what happened 6 years ago? Huh?”

“I guess you killed so many people that you don’t remember, eh? Would the hacking incident at Area 51 refresh your memory?”

For a second, Sergei Haritonov’s eyes widened.

“Judging by the look in your eyes, you do remember. The target you were supposed to take out was me. You killed my friend instead. You son of a bitch!”

“Don’t make me laugh! I don’t make mistakes.”

“Mistakes? That pride is what has caused you to be in this situation. It’s time for you to go to hell. Sergei Haritonov, your life has come to an end.”

“Wa-wait…!”

Pew~

Namgoong-won pulled the CS5 laser pistol’s trigger and placed the gun back into the holster in his jacket. Sergei Haritonov had a small hole on the back of his head from the laser beam. Black and red blood was spreading on the restroom floor.

To find the location of the other Scorpion agent who had killed his family and younger sibling, Namgoong-won took Sergei Haritonov’s smartphone inside his pocket. Then, he pulled out a bomb the size of a cigarette pack and started a timer. He then placed it on top of Sergei Haritonov’s body.

Namgoong-won did not feel happy nor sad after avenging his friend. Maybe because it was the fact that his friend’s death was gnawing at his heart for the past 6 years? As thoughts raced through his head, he activated the TCS system with the press of a button on his wrist console. Namgoong-won vanished from sight, and carefully left the restroom and the waiting room while making sure no one noticed him.

When he reached the parking lot, a large explosion occurred in the restroom at the waiting room.

The Presidential Emergency Operations Center, the White House, Washington D.C., U.S.A. (the underground bunker)

President Trump was exhausted after hearing report after report about the damages done to the nation’s west coast. By the time he was able to return to his quarters, it was 4:00 am. The first lady and his family that had retreated to the Presidential Emergency Operations Center together were all sleeping. President Trump started to think after sitting down at his desk inside the office.

The Corean military was more powerful than expected, and the fact that he will now go down in history as the first U.S. president who had the nation attacked on the mainland but couldn’t retaliate made him feel uneasy. He also felt fear about Corea’s power.

However, President Trump was only the president of the United States in name and merely a puppet of the USSC. He had no authority nor power to come up with a solution. He felt tiny compared to the great financial power and authority the USSC had, but in the back of his mind, a faint idea of betraying them started to take hold.

As the thought started to overtake him, he placed the receiver on the hotline connected to the Corean president.

Seoul, Blue House national emergency situation center, the underground bunker. The president’s office.

Beep~ Beep~

The screen on the hotline showed number 1, which marked the call as being from the president of the U.S. President Suh Hyun-woo, who was busy approving and reading over documents about the restoration projects for the northern states, pressed the video call button.

President Trump showed up on the large screen hanging on the wall.

“Mr. President. What’s going on? I didn’t expect you to call me first.”

“President Suh, I just have one question.”

“Yes, please ask away.”

“How much do you know about the USSC?”

“The USSC? I would be lying if I said I knew 100% of everything they have done, but I can at least say I know more than enough.”

“President Suh, the USSC is not only tied to the U.S. but also nations across the world and their leaders”

“Yes, that is why our NIS is collecting information about the USSC’s financial ties.”

“If you find out, it will be more than you imagined.”

“Let’s say it is beyond my comprehension as you claim. Why would that be an issue at this point? Please tell me why you have called,” President Suh Hyun-woo noticed President Trump was going through an internal conflict and asked. “The USSC is a candle in the wind. Even if it does use its influence over the various world leaders, what could they do now? Mr. President, the offer I made you yesterday still stands.”

“Hmm, can you truly wipe out the USSC? The White House, Congress, and the military are full of USSC supporters.”

“President Trump! What good would a centipede’s numerous legs be if its head is cut off?”

“Very well. What do you need me to do?”

“Have you made up your mind?”

“Yes, I would like you to guarantee the safety of me and my family after the war.”

“Of course. We are locating the members of the USSC right now. We need you to have them gather at one place.”

“I understand. There’s a USSC HQ building. I will make sure all of the members be in attendance. Their location is…”

“We already know where they are.”

“What! Really?”

“Yes, our intelligence agents and special forces men have been keeping watch on them.”

“That’s great. I will make sure all of them are gathered by 22:00 U.S.T.”

“Thank you for your cooperation, President Trump. I will make sure that there will be no more engagements against the U.S. military until we wipe out the USSC. Further bloodshed will not be of any help for both of our nations.”

“I understand. I’ll call again.”

Click.

President Suh Hyun-woo and President Trump video called each other for 30 minutes. When he was done, President Suh called the NSC for a meeting through his secretary’s office. The war started with China as the first enemy, then Japan, and now, America. It seemed to be coming to a close.

The skies above Tokyo, Japan

The final mission for the heavy armored paratrooper brigade which was the finale for the occupation of Tokyo was about to start above Tokyo’s skies. It was a cloudless night with a bright full moon. The heavy armored brigade’s forces all jumped off from the 16 CC-502 transport planes and littered the sky.

The Corean forces’ silvery armor reflected the gleaming moonlight and they harmonized together to create a splendid view.

The men started to activate their thrusters after free-falling to a certain altitude. Then, they started to fly into groups of squadrons to head to their destinations.

Tokyo’s anti-air and artillery forces in charge of defending its skies started firing their weapons at the C-502 transport planes and the heavy armored brigades.

Hundreds of light beams were strewn across the sky, and they caused small and large explosions. The world’s greatest firework display was being held in Tokyo.

However, the heavy armored brigade’s men were smaller than an aircraft and were able to freely maneuver across the skies. They could not be taken down by the Japanese military’s artillery fire. Explosions continued in the skies, but the men used their maneuverability to escape and safely land on the ground.

The 1st military command’s 1st heavy armored brigade, the 2nd military command’s 2nd heavy armored brigade, and the capital defense command’s capital armored brigade, and finally the 7th mobile corps’ 7th heavy armored brigade’s 4800 men had all been fully equipped and descending on downtown Tokyo. Once they reached the surface, they rushed to the anti-air artillery forces that had attacked them first.

The heavy armored brigade’s men equipped with a 6-barrel Vulcan gun and a protective suit started to wipe out any Japanese soldiers they saw on sight.

Meanwhile, the 20th armored division moving in from the west of Tokyo and the 9th mechanized infantry division from the north, as well as the capital armored division, which had mobilized from Nagoya from Tokyo’s southwest started to begin their assault on the city.

Up until now, the armored divisions split their forces into two groups and attacked the city day and night, but now, they used all of their power to attack the city.

As the assault on the city continued, the joint military command concluded that Minister of Defense Shibasaki had died from a heart attack due to shock after being dismissed from his position, although a thorough autopsy had to be performed to prove the theory.

Joint Commander Masaki Hajime gathered the military commanders in a grim mood. He gave the order to defend the city with their lives against the Corean military’s paratroopers and armored forces.

If the nation’s capital and final line of defense Tokyo was overrun by the Corean military, then Japan had no choice but to surrender to another nation like they did during World War II. The soldiers of the Japanese military wore the Japanese imperial flag as headbands, then shouted “All hail the heavenly emperor.” It was as if they had returned to the days of imperialism.

The night of the 26th at Tokyo was turning into a living hell filled with the scent of gunpowder and blood.

The Japanese citizens hiding at homes and apartments were sometimes struck by the explosives and cannon rounds. They all died from being caught in the explosions or being crushed by the debris. Time seemed to pass by slowly as civilian casualties mounted.
