Chapter 36:DAD'S STORY

Amy was sitting on the swing outside their house looking at the night sky. She looked so lonely and was crying. Her dad saw her and decided to sit beside her. She rubbed her tears away when she noticed her dad.

He started to tell a story:

"I had a huge crush on your mom since high school.

She was so pretty and popular and all the boys courted her.

I would always look at her from a distance telling myself, she will never be interested in someone like me.

Then, it was time for me enter the military.

I told myself that I need to muster my courage now and tell her how I feel or I will regret it later. Anyway, if she says no, I can heal my despair inside the military. But to my surprise, she said yes, and will wait for me until I got out of service.

All the men entering the military facility were sad and gloomy. I was the only one very happy. I cannot wait to get out and spend the rest of my life with your mom.

Until this day, I have always wondered why she chose me but rather than finding the answer, I focused on loving her more and making her happy.

Amy stood up and hugged her dad. She begin to sob quietly then became louder, louder, and cried like a baby. Somehow, crying out loud lifted a stone from her heart.

Her dad spoke as he hugged her back:

"Some love stories will not have a happy ending but the most important thing is, it is not the only love story that you will ever have. There will be more and just like in fairytales, there is someone meant to be your happy ever after."
