Dong Qiangqiang's Story of Leaving Germany

Chapter 1117 Neither Stormy nor Clear

Originally he was worried about how he would take the children across the river alone, but when he heard the whistle he knew reinforcements must have arrived. Although he didn't know if they were the reinforcements Zheng Chunhua had brought in, if so, this rescue force was quite impressive.

The noise outside the door was getting closer and closer. The two of them arrived at the door. The door handle was stuck by the overturned shoe cabinet and could not be opened from the outside. Dong Qiangqiang was holding the child and it was inconvenient for him to use his hands. After obtaining the little master's consent, he used his feet to knock over the shoe cabinet and the door opened easily.

Little Josephina, well-fed, warmly dressed, sat steadily on Dong Qiangqiang's arm, her little face flushed. She pointed outside the door with one hand, looking as heroic and high-spirited as a triumphant general. After they walked out of the door, they looked towards the direction of the light almost at the same time.

At a glance, four light sources, two large and two small, that were obviously higher than the car lights came into their eyes. The water splashing around the tires was bright and white, and even with the dilution of water mist, it was still a bit dazzling.

The brightness of the light made it impossible for little Josefina to look directly at it. She leaned her head weakly on Dong Qiangqiang's shoulder like a little kitten. Dong Qiangqiang squinted his eyes and vaguely distinguished that the ship coming towards them was not the ship he thought it was, but more like the giant tractor he had seen in Lutherbillig.

Noticing that the opponent's speed was increasing, Dong Qiangqiang instinctively used his right hand to protect the back of Josephina's head and quickly retreated back into the door. He was afraid that the opponent would not be able to stop the car, and he was also worried that Josephina would be wet by the splashing water.

When the white light stopped in front of Dong Qiangqiang's eyes, the roar surrounded his ears, and the car stopped steadily in the water, he could see clearly that what was parked in front of him was neither a tractor nor a lifeboat, but a bulldozer of similar size and height to the giant tractor he had seen before.

Less than a second after the excavator stopped, the cab door was pushed open and hit the iron plate beside the door with a bang. Two figures jumped out from inside, one in front and one behind, without wearing raincoats. The first person to step into the water was a short, stocky man in work clothes. However, after landing, he did not rush to jump up the stairs. Instead, he turned around and carefully helped the man behind him to jump out of the car.

The person who got off the car later was obviously a woman by her figure. As soon as she stepped into the water, she rushed towards the door. Before the man could react, she had already arrived in the blink of an eye.

"Josephina!" The woman shouted the little girl's name and ran towards Dong Qiangqiang and the other man like a whirlwind.

Hearing the familiar voice calling her, little Josephina, who was lying on Dong Qiangqiang's shoulder, suddenly raised her head like a groundhog that heard a friend calling her. Without even seeing who was coming, she turned her head and shouted loudly, "Mom, mom."

Dong Qiangqiang reacted very quickly. When he heard the little girl calling for her mother, he immediately pushed little Josephina, who was stretching out her arms to her mother, out. The woman opened her arms and grabbed her into her arms. Then she took two steps back, staring at the little girl's round face and body with eyes full of heartache, looking left and right, muttering to herself, as if checking whether the little girl was injured.

The man followed closely into the house. After glancing at the woman and the girl to see that they were safe and sound, he walked straight between his wife, children and Dong Qiangqiang. He looked Dong Qiangqiang up and down with a vigilant gaze like a hound, and his suspicious eyes finally fell on the hard canvas pocket on his body.

"Who are you? Where are you from? Why are you in our house?" The man had a cold face and pointed at the pocket and said sternly, "Also, what's the matter with this hard canvas pocket?" When the man asked the last question, his eyes were no longer on Dong Qiangqiang, but kept looking around, as if he was looking for something.

Seeing that he was about to be mistaken for a human trafficker by little Josephina's parents, Dong Qiangqiang hurriedly took off the hard canvas bag and handed it to them: "I am a student of the special university. About forty or fifty minutes ago, when I was passing by the vineyard on the mountain with my friends, I accidentally found Josephina alone on the roof. My friend and I thought the situation was urgent, so we came down from the mountain. After crossing the river, I took her down from the roof, and my friend went to find someone to help. We tried to contact the police, but the water was so high that the police could not get over for a while. Your daughter is very lucky to have come down from the roof safely. I saw that the child was shivering with cold, so I looked for something to eat in your kitchen. I planned to take Josephina to find you after eating, and she agreed to this plan. I was worried that the rain was too heavy and the child would be hungry before I found you, so I took the initiative to put all the unfinished food into the bag and planned to take it with me on the road. As you can see, I was soaked, so I took the liberty of taking a bottle of your whiskey. To express my gratitude, I left money in your wine cabinet. If you don't believe it, you can go and see."

Dong Qiangqiang had lost contact with Zheng Chunhua for a long time, and he had no idea whether she had successfully called the police. However, if he said anything else at this moment, it might cause trouble, especially if Josephina's parents insisted that he was a bad guy who broke into a private house without asking any questions, and he would have to deal with a lot more trouble. He was very glad that he didn't change into the work clothes next to the wooden box in the attic, otherwise it would be even more difficult to explain. His current wet and miserable appearance would win more sympathy from the other party.

The man took the canvas bag handed over by Dong Qiangqiang. Before he could ask any more questions, little Josephina, who had been whispering to her mother, suddenly turned her head and said to her father word by word: "Dad, uncle is very good. He climbed up the roof so high without crying. When he picked me up, he asked me what the hooks on the roof were for. I told him everything."

The daughter's words melted the frost on the man's face like a spring breeze, and her voice suddenly became gentle: "Did you cry?"

"I... I didn't cry either," little Josefina shook her head, feeling proud at first and then frustrated, "but after I walked out, I didn't dare go back to the attic."

"Then you are also very good," the man touched the tender red cheek of little Josefina with his fingertips tenderly. The little girl giggled and dived into her mother's arms, not forgetting to tilt her head slightly and peek at the man through the gap in the drapes that hung in front of her eyes.

When the man first saw Dong Qiangqiang, who had messy long hair, he thought he had some artistic tendencies, and he didn't look like a bad guy. In addition, children's words are sincere, so he let down his guard a little, and his expression was no longer as ugly as when he entered the house. He said something quickly to the woman, and the woman carried the little girl into the kitchen. When she came out a few seconds later, she nodded slightly to the man. Dong Qiangqiang noticed that the man's expression relaxed a lot. Needless to say, the woman must have seen the wine money he left.

"Thank you, young man." The man was not tall, but his hands were not small. When he opened them, they looked like a small palm leaf fan. He squeezed them hard a few times. Dong Qiangqiang felt that his hand bones were about to be broken. "Thank you for saving my daughter. Tell me what happened just now. I want to know all the details."

So Dong Qiangqiang started by telling the story of how he and Zheng Chunhua were attracted by the tragic situation in the vineyard when they passed by it, how he noticed the helpless little girl clinging to the chimney, how they crossed the river, how they tied a rope to save people, and how the rope was still thrown in the attic. He told the whole story from beginning to end without leaving out anything.

The man listened very attentively and was very satisfied with Dong Qiangqiang's logical consistency. During the conversation, he gave the woman a wink without saying a word. After the woman put the child down, went upstairs and came down again, the couple's attitude towards Dong Qiangqiang became a little friendlier.

The four of them had been asking and answering questions for more than ten minutes, when someone outside the door shouted urgently, "Is everyone inside safe?"

Only then did Dong Qiangqiang realize that there were other people outside.

"Joseph, we are all safe," the man turned and walked towards the door, shouting, "You go and save others, thank you." There was another roar, and the bulldozer staggered away in front of the door.

Since the family was reunited and he had been cleared of suspicion, Dong Qiangqiang borrowed the other party's cell phone and wanted to call Zheng Chunhua to ask her where she was.

Zheng Chunhua's cell phone had a signal but no one answered. He was still wondering and was about to hang up and redial when he heard a "click" sound coming from far away.

Could it be that the forklift had returned? The four of them all looked out the door.

In the continuous rain, what was parked outside the door was not a bulldozer, but a fiery red off-road motorcycle and a woman as graceful as the wind.

"Hey, it's not easy to catch up with you guys, you guys are driving too fast." The first thing Zheng Chunhua said after walking in and taking off her helmet was to the couple, "He's the boy I just mentioned to you. He's responsible for saving people, and I'm responsible for calling for help."

"What's going on here?" Dong Qiangqiang was confused when he saw that Zheng Chunhua knew the other person.

Zheng Chunhua explained the whole story in a few words: Dad had been at the winery for the past few days, and when little Josefina was sleeping, the water level in the street began to rise. Fearing that the car would be washed away, her mother went out to move the car, but unexpectedly, both the car and herself were washed away. After the car hit the wall, she fainted in the car and did not know if she was rescued. When she woke up in the ambulance, she remembered that her daughter was still in the house, so she called her husband, and the two of them rushed home together, and on the way they met Zheng Chunhua who was rushing back with the ambulance. Dad was the most anxious, and the bulldozer was not afraid of the water level, and it rushed all the way, soon leaving everyone else behind.

Everyone was happy. Dong Qiangqiang ate the bread, jam and whiskey from Josephina's house and left money for the wine. Josephina's parents expressed their sincere gratitude to Dong Qiangqiang for his behavior. Not only did they not ask for his money for the wine, they were also willing to give him a set of dry work clothes to prevent him from catching a cold. Dong Qiangqiang politely declined the other party's kindness. The man did not force him and gave him a few more bottles of wine, telling him that they were all homemade and he could come over anytime if he liked to drink.

Dong Qiangqiang squatted down and said goodbye to little Josefina. The little girl thanked Dong Qiangqiang loudly for his help and whispered that she hoped Dong Qiangqiang could teach her how to tie a swastika knot next time so that she could go to the roof freely in the future.

After bidding farewell to Josefina's family, Dong Qiangqiang and Zheng Chunhua crossed the river to retrieve their helmets and set out on their journey home again.

Although this operation did take up quite a bit of time, both of them felt that they had done something meaningful and were in a very good mood.

The rain got heavier and the roads became muddier.

Zheng Chunhua was steering the boat in front, and Dong Qiangqiang was pushing the boat from behind. As they were about to cross the muddy road, Zheng Chunhua suddenly remembered something: "I almost forgot. When you were saving people on the roof, your classmate Lao Bai called me."

Dong Qiangqiang was stunned, and stopped his hand, and asked anxiously: "What did he say?"

It happened to be a hilly road, and when Dong Qiangqiang slacked off, Zheng Chunhua almost fell back with the motorcycle. Fortunately, Dong Qiangqiang was quick-witted and recovered his strength in an instant, so Zheng Chunhua did not fall.

“Hey, don’t stop talking,” Zheng Chunhua complained, “I almost (fell).”

"I'm sorry, what did Lao Bai say?"

"He said that everyone has been picked up and everything is fine, so don't worry."

Dong Qiangqiang was completely relieved. If something really happened to Lao Ding and the others this time, he would have been depressed for a long time.

Entering the mixed forest was like entering the world of motorcycles again. Seeing that they would soon be home, Dong Qiangqiang, who was sitting on the back seat, blurted out, "Oh no."

Zheng Chunhua thought he saw something, so she braked suddenly and took off her goggles: "What's wrong?"

"I was so busy drinking to keep warm that I forgot to go back to the river to help. I can't drive after drinking, so I can only go over. Oh, it's my fault. I was careless."

"What's my problem?" Zheng Chunhua put down her goggles, restarted the motorcycle, and said sympathetically, "After you finish this, go back and have a good rest. Just give me the water pump." (End of this chapter)
