Chapter 1416 Surrounded On All Sides
The eunuch Zhang Cheng, the supervisor of ceremonies, is in the mood of the weather today. It is snowing and the sun is clear, and his whole body is warm, and he smiles a little bit when he sees everyone.
No wonder he was happy. After all, the matter that Shen Shixing and Wang Xijue explained last time was settled by him. Shen Yuanfu and Wang Ge, who had just come out of the Wenhua Palace meeting, praised him a few words, expressing that the Xin School would seriously consider it. The possibility of the third son of the emperor inheriting the heir.Of course, it will take time for a large faction to change its position on such a major matter, so it cannot be publicized yet.
What made Shen Yuanfu and Wang Gelao suddenly praise Zhang Cheng?
This is what happened: After the Ministry of Household Affairs confirmed that the money could be provided, the emperor let the cabinet know that Nurhachi would be beaten once. Although it is not necessary to sweep the hole, Nurhachi must know that the power of tomorrow cannot be violated. , but any action must be approved by Daming.
Therefore, the cabinet and the Ministry of War should discuss things now, agree on the scale of the troop dispatch, the candidates to lead the troop, etc., and then report to him for a decision.
It may be that the incident happened suddenly. The elders of the practical school and Liang Menglong, the minister of the Ministry of war, seemed to be unaware that Gao Yushi had proposed to the emperor that Li Chengliang should lead the army. Therefore, during the cabinet discussion, the views of the two sides conflicted.
The Practical School insists that since the affairs east of the Liaohe River are in charge of the deputy general Cao Yu, and Cao Yu also made great achievements in the previous battle of northern Liaoning and proved his ability, it is natural to deal with a mere Jianzhou Zuowei. Down.Apart from Cao Yu, the leader of the army this time is not the second person to think about.
The School of Mind disagrees with this view, and believes that although the deputy commander-in-chief is in charge of the east of Liaohe, that does not mean that the commander-in-chief cannot manage military affairs east of Liaodong. In the past, Li Chengliang was the commander-in-chief when he broke through Gule Village twice. Why didn't you say that this matter had nothing to do with Li Chengliang?
So the Practical School said that the reason why the situation at that time was different from the current situation was because Daming hadn't put the decisive battle with Chahar on the agenda at that time, and Li Chengliang's actions naturally had a lot of autonomy. But now, Ming's national policy is very clear, everything is for the decisive battle of Chahar.
Considering that Chahar caused trouble for Liaodong not long ago, at this moment Li Chengliang should guard the west of Liaoning and accumulate strength, so that he can launch a thunderous blow against Chahar after the imperial court orders. Therefore, Li Chengliang should not move lightly now, he should sit firmly in the west of Liaoning and keep calm.
The School of Mind disagreed even more, thinking that it was precisely because of the heavy losses of Chahar after the Liaobei War that at least it was impossible to jump out and cause trouble again in the short term. Moreover, Li Chengliang's troops are powerful, even if some of them are dispatched to "beat" Nurhachi, the impact on the defense of western Liaoning will be minimal, and there is no possibility of instability in western Liaoning.
The two sides could not argue, so the ball was kicked back to the emperor.Coincidentally, the person who conveyed the cabinet dispute to the emperor was Zhang Cheng, and the emperor did not make a decision immediately after hearing the report, but only said that he would consider it.
That night, the emperor went to the imperial concubine Zheng as before. After receiving the report from Zhang Cheng, the imperial concubine seemed to find an opportunity to say something to the emperor—but no one knew about it.
Anyway, in the morning of the next day, the emperor sent Zhang Cheng directly to inform the cabinet, saying that Li Chengliang had made outstanding military achievements and had been in charge of the defense of western Liaoning for many years. Li Chengliang was chosen as the leader of the next troop dispatch.
At the same time, the emperor asked the cabinet and the Ministry of War to discuss the scale of dispatching troops again—yesterday there was only a quarrel, and the leader and commander were not determined, so of course there was no conclusion on this one—and then they came to the Wenhua Palace to play.
This time the discussion was relatively quick, and finally the agreed plan reported by the cabinet to the emperor was as follows: Uncle Ning Yuan and Li Chengliang, the commander-in-chief of Liaodong, sent eight thousand troops from Guangning; Cao Yu, the deputy commander-in-chief of Liaodong, sent five thousand troops from Liaoyang; Xun sent [-] troops from Kaiyuan; Kuandian General Yang Yuan sent [-] troops from Kuandian.
In addition, another Shenyang guerrilla Qi Jin sent [-] troops to guard Fushun Pass in advance; Talumuwei (Ye He) sent [-] troops to help out. This department went with Ma Chengxun and was dispatched by Cao Yu.
In this way, adding up all the armies, there are 2 Ming soldiers and [-] Yehe soldiers, a total of [-] people, known as [-], who conquered Jianzhou Zuowei.
The praise from Shen Shixing and Wang Xijue was precisely because Zhang Cheng had played a role in it. Relying on the influence of Imperial Concubine Zheng, Li Chengliang was appointed as the coach of this expedition.
Why did Shen Shixing and Wang Xijue insist on letting Li Chengliang be the coach? The reason is very simple. Whether it was to put down the rebellion in the northwest, or to fight back against Tumen's eastward invasion, it was the Real School that fought, and Li Chengliang did nothing.
So when the Battle of Liaobei was over and it was discovered that Li Chengliang had actually provided gunpowder to the Tumen, not only Li Chengliang himself, but also the entire Mind School fell into a great passive, and even suffered a big loss in Nancha because of this.
The Jingchao is held once every few years. If you suffer a loss this time, you will have to wait for the next time to save your face. However, Li Chengliang, the general soldier of Liaodong, is different. As long as there is a battle, he can make the emperor realize his role again.
Speaking of which, isn't the reason why Li Chengliang has been promoted step by step in these years is not because of one victory after another? Therefore, both Shen Shixing and Wang Xijue believed that Li Chengliang could not be left idle all the time, and he must always be positioned in the position of being brave and capable of fighting, and constantly using military exploits to offset all unfavorable factors.
Isn't it also because of this that he attracted Li Chengliang?
Now that the matter is settled, the rest is the preparation work, to be more specific, it is waiting for the above-mentioned armies to take their positions.
There was a sudden change in the Liaodong army, and Nurhachi, who had been waiting in the old village of Hetuala, got the news immediately. As in the original history, Nurhachi attached great importance to the collection of intelligence on the Liaodong Ming Army.
For example, before the Battle of Ningyuan in the original history, the fall of Daming towns was all due to the contribution of Houjin intelligence personnel. The most typical example is opening the gate of Liaoyang City and causing Liaoyang to fall.
Now Nurhachi also attaches great importance to intelligence, and the news of several troop mobilizations is gathered here. When his subordinates learned of Li Chengliang's plan to send troops and sent it to Nurhachi, Baylor, the Sukesu river guard, relaxed.
He said with a smile to his subordinates: "The Ming army claims to be [-], but in fact it is only [-]. Although it is twice as large as mine, it is not much."
Shuerhaqi didn't seem to agree with this statement, but he and his elder brother Nurhachi are still very close at the moment, so he followed Nurhachi's words to express his agreement, and then added: "The person who came is Uncle Li after all, Just be more careful."
Er Yidu seemed to be the number one general of Jianzhou Zuowei at the moment, he thought for a while, and said: "Big Baylor, Er Baylor's worries are justified, even if the Ming army has a real number of [-], it is twice as much as my Jianzhou army." Uncle Li has been in Liaodong for more than [-] years, and he has never been defeated in our territory in Manchuria. It is very difficult for our army to win this battle. It is better to rely on the advantage of the location and stalemate with him. The Ming army has been fighting for a long time without success, so it is natural to try to appease it Policy, then..."
"No." Nurhachi waved his hand and said, "Uncle Li is certainly amazing, but he has no intention to kill here."
The words were so miraculous that everyone was stunned when they heard them, and it was Shuerhaqi, the Erbeile who had the most face, and asked, "Where did you say that, Ah Hun?"
Nurhachi walked to a very rough map and said, "Uncle Li is here, and his military use is quite different from that of the past. What can you see?"
Everyone has heard the information just now, and Li Chengliang's combat intention is to attack separately.
According to Li Chengliang's deployment, his plan was to divide the Ming army into four directions to outflank Hetuala.
Among them, North Road is Kaiyuan general Ma Chengxun. The Ministry received the order to leave Guangshun Pass in the east from Kaiyuan—that is, the southern pass owned by Hada—and then go south from the Hada territory and go straight to Hetuala. In addition, Li Chengliang changed the imperial court's deployment and ordered Ye He's thousand soldiers to be led by Fei Yingdong to wait for Ma Chengxun's dispatch on the North Road instead of continuing south to Cao Yu's tent.
Cao Yu didn't object to the latter order, because in Cao Yu's view, Ma Chengxun was one of his own, as long as Ye He's thousand soldiers were not transferred by Li Chengliang himself, it didn't matter whether he was with Ma Chengxun.
The middle road is Cao Yu's main force, which also includes 2000 people from Qi Jinsuo's department. It seems that this journey is the heaviest task, because Li Chengliang's order to Cao Yu is to leave Fushun Pass in the east and go straight to the old village of Hetuala along the Sukesu River Moat.
It is worth noting that since this road goes along the Suke Suhu River, there is a necessary place in the middle, which is called Saerhu.
Li Chengliang himself is on the south road, and his army will stay in Liaoyang for a day. After renovations, it will go straight to Qinghe Fort, and then go out of Yahu Pass, and approach Hetuala from the south.
As for the 3000 people of Kuandian general Yang Yuan, they were originally located at the southernmost point, but they were not called Nanlu.Because his task was to start from Kuandian, go around Hetuala through the territory of Dong'ebu, and finally form a situation of encirclement with the first three armies from east to west, from east to west, from south to north, and to catch Nurhachi in the urn. Therefore, this road is called the East Road.
Yang Yuan also has a task along the way, which is to appease the Dong E tribe who was invaded by Nurhachi before, and see if he can persuade the Dong E tribe to send troops to assist.
To understand the intention of Li Chengliang's deployment, one must first explain the geographical conditions around Hetuala.
The Jianzhou Jurchen activity area is located in the mountainous area of Changbai Mountain. The vegetation in Changbai Mountain is very lush, and abundant precipitation forms large and small mountain rivers and valleys.
These naturally formed river valleys were not only the main living areas of the Jurchen ministries, but also the main roads for transportation into and out of the mountains.
Fortresses of Jurchen leaders such as Foala City, Hetuala City, and Wuma City were all built on relatively flat terraces by the river, and the Jurchens lived together like this. They used the river valley as their road to go to the Zhaima Market on the border wall of the Ming Dynasty to make deals with the Ming people, or launch raids.
The valley is the way into and out of the mountain.
The Jurchens are actually not nomads, but a group of fishermen and hunters living together in a city built in a city. They engaged in hunting, gathering and production in the forests of Changbai Mountain, and cultivated land around the city (but the farming technology is very weak). In order to get water conveniently, and to ensure that they can avoid the mountain torrents in the rainy season after summer, the Jurchens used to choose a highland next to the river, and build the city after leveling it. (When I wrote about the Battle of Liaobei, I mentioned that the same is true of Ye He’s East and West Cities.)
Hetuala City in Nurhachi is located on the bank of the upper reaches of the Sukesuhu River, deep in the valley.Suke Suhu River flows from east to west, and flows into the Hun River at Saerhu. The Hun River continues to flow westward, and the downstream is Fushun and Shenyang.
That is to say, the entire Sukesuhu River is in the mountainous area of Changbai Mountain, and its river course passes through the area, which is the Sukesuhu River Valley, which also becomes the passage between Hetuala City and the outside world.
At Sarhu, where the Suke Suhu River merges into the Hunhe River, the Hunhe Avenue is to the west, and the terrain is gradually flat and open.Simply put, it starts out of the mountains, gradually enters the Liaohe Plain, and enters the Ming Dynasty-controlled area within the Ming Dynasty's side wall.
Fushun Institute and Fushun Horse Market are actually the Ming Army Fortress and the horse market next to it after entering a pass (Fushun Pass) on the side wall.Because the Suke Suhu River flows into the Hunhe River from the Changbai Mountains and enters the downstream plains, the terrain gradually becomes lower, so after the liberation in 1949, the Dahuofang Reservoir was built here.
Nurhachi and other chiefs and nobles of Jianzhou Jurchen, big and small, usually go to Fushun Horse Market to do business. They all start from Hetuala, first walk from the Suke Suhu River Valley, and then go west through the Hunhe Avenue to arrive at Fushun Horse Market.
As I said before, around Jianzhou Jurchen, Daming will open a horse market. There are two north and south passes in Kaiyuan, and Fushun pass in Fushun. In fact, there are also Qinghe, Kuandian and Kuiyang, but the latter three are not as famous as the first three, and the scale is also smaller.
Qinghema City is to the south of Fushun Mashi, and to some extent it can be regarded as the "deputy city" of Fushun Guanma City. Its geographical location determines that it can trade with Suke, Suhu River, and Dong'e. A complementary horse market.
Kuandian and Kuanyang are located in the south of Sanwei in Jianzhou, and they were originally aimed at the horse market of the Dong'e tribe. In March of the eighth year of Wanli, Li Chengliang attacked Wang Wutang and broke through the old village of Yaerkui in the Dong'e tribe. The vitality of the Dong'e tribe was greatly damaged. The two horse markets are currently relatively depressed. But this in turn made Fushun Horse Market the strongest horse market outside the North and South Passes, and by the way, Nurhachi was able to overwhelm Dong Ebu.
Why mention these five horse markets? It is because they have a common feature: since Jianzhou Jurchen is located in the Changbai Mountains, they are all connected to Hetuala through the valley of a certain river.
From Hetuala to Fushun and Kaiyuan, you have to go to Suke Suhu River Valley and Hunhe River Valley; from Hetuala to Qinghe, you have to go to Taizi River Valley; from Hetuala to Kuiyang and Kuandian, go to Fucha Wilderness and Abdarigaon Valley.
The Jianzhou Jurchen had to walk this way when they left the mountain; conversely, if the officers and soldiers of Ming Dynasty wanted to enter the mountain, they had to walk this way.
Now, except for Kuiyang, there is no Ming army (but there is in nearby Kuandian), and all four lines are used by Li Chengliang to encircle and suppress Nurhachi. So to a certain extent, there is no need for anyone to inform Nurhachi in advance how the army's subordinates will act. He has long known that the Ming army can only enter the mountains by walking four valleys.
Because there is no other way to go.
However, the problem is that since there are only these four roads to go, and Li Chengliang used these four roads as the route for the four-way army to set up a situation for the left guard in Jianzhou, why Nurhachi dared to judge that Li Chengliang had no intention of killing him? ?
Shuerhaqi, Eyidu and all the generals didn't speak, they all stared at the map in silence.
At this moment, Nurhachi did not play dumb riddles, and reminded: "Ma Chengxun on the North Road, there are three thousand cavalry here, and Ye Hena's one thousand is also cavalry; Cao Yu and Qi Jin on the Middle Road have six thousand infantry and one thousand cavalry; Uncle Li’s south road headquarters, eight thousand are all cavalry; East Yang Yuan, three thousand are all infantry.”
He paused, smiled, and asked, "What did you see?"

However, the problem is that since there are only these four roads to go, and Li Chengliang used these four roads as the route for the four-way army to set up a situation for the left guard in Jianzhou, why Nurhachi dared to judge that Li Chengliang had no intention of killing him? ?

At this moment, Nurhachi did not play dumb riddles, and reminded: "Ma Chengxun on the North Road, there are three thousand cavalry here, and Ye Hena's one thousand is also cavalry; Cao Yu and Qi Jin on the Middle Road have six thousand infantry and one thousand cavalry; Uncle Li’s south road headquarters, eight thousand are all cavalry; East Yang Yuan, three thousand are all infantry.”
He paused, smiled, and asked, "What did you see?"
