I am a nobleman in Spring and Autumn

Chapter 9 Be a Happy Inventor

Chapter 9 Be a Happy Inventor
There is nothing that can be achieved overnight, just have an idea to experiment, and slowly improve to make a certain product mature.

Iron is already being used in the current era, and iron has already appeared in the Yin and Shang Dynasties. The shortcomings are too obvious to replace bronze and become the mainstream of making various tools.

If you want to say which country has the largest amount of iron smelting, it is actually the Chu State in the south. They used the iron-coating technology on agricultural tools around 700 BC, but it was not fully promoted for some reasons.

The state of Chu has tried and improved, and the countries of the Central Plains are still using a large number of pure wood farm tools, even if there are bronze farm tools, there are very few.

"The iron smelting experiment takes time, maybe I can try other things first?" Zhiyao knew that it could not be completed in a short time, so she provided some ideas for the craftsman, and began to think that she should study papermaking.

In the matter of inviting Lao Tzu to come to Zhishi as a guest, Zhiyao can be regarded as a kind of preemptive action. The serious process requires Zhixuan to meet Lao Tzu in person, give Lao Tzu enough respect, and then make relevant arrangements.

In the same way, Zhiyao is currently not eligible to accept Zigong as a retainer, and also needs the Patriarch of the Zhi clan to come to hold the acceptance ceremony.

Spring and Autumn attaches great importance to the sense of ritual. There is its own ceremony for welcoming guests, and it is even more necessary to follow the procedures for receiving retainers.

The process of accepting retainers is mainly a function of publicity, so that everyone knows that a certain person has been Zhishi's retainer from a certain day, and can exercise some rights on behalf of Zhishi.

"If it is too much, it will be kept for three years, if it is short or one year, it will not be kept for a long time." Lao Tzu said.

He himself is not very willing to come to Jin country, and he came here reluctantly, so why would he want to stay for a long time?

Zhiyao was not annoyed either, and said with a smile: "There are good talents here, and Dan Zipin brings joy to them."

If Confucius is a character who is good at being a teacher, Lao Tzu is actually similar. When they see rough jade, they want to carve it into beautiful jade.

Lao Tzu shook his head and said, "My technique is of little use to Jin people."

The state of Jin is not a country that pursues "rituals", which leads to the lack of interest in "rituals" among Jin people, and they prefer knowledge that is easy to learn and has quick results.

Lao Tzu has a deep research on "rituals", so that Confucius traveled thousands of miles to study several times.

In addition, Laozi has already begun to study nature, but for the time being, he has not yet considered the related academics of "governing by doing nothing".

When it comes to "governance by doing nothing", many people will have misunderstandings, thinking that governance by doing nothing means letting things go, but this understanding is wrong.

After all, Zhiyao is a "comer". Take the Western Han Dynasty to rule the country with the core philosophy of Taoism, but how can anyone who understands history say that the Western Han Dynasty allowed Li Shu to ignore everything.

The fact is that from Han Gaozu to Han Jingdi, there are simply not too many compulsory national policies, and correct adjustments can always be made at critical moments.

In the true sense, "government by doing nothing" means governing the country by system, using system to restrain the behavior of subjects, and all subjects abide by the legal system.

To put it bluntly, it is to formulate a large framework without too much intervention, so that people can give full play to their creativity, achieve self-realization, and move towards loftiness and glory.

Therefore, "inaction" does not mean doing nothing, but refraining from acting rashly.

Zhiyao also understands that the state of Jin is not suitable for "governance by doing nothing". He adopts the idea of "government by doing nothing" in system formulation and encourages people to use their brains to increase productivity.

The military fruit doctrine of the Jin State is very good for the late Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. It is the promotion of those ideas that make the Jin State a country that can tap more of its own potential.

Later, didn't Shang Yang learn from Jin's national policy of military fruitism and come up with his own strategy of farming and warfare?
Therefore, the military fruit doctrine of the Jin State lacks two things. The first is to publicize a clear channel for advancement (title), and the second is to realize that ordinary people can also become the land and slaves of masters.

Lao Tzu said more bluntly: "If there is no jade in the rough, it will be difficult for Dan to stay for a year."

In Lao Tzu's opinion, the Jin people are too belligerent, and the Jin people that can be seen are really too busy, so busy that they even walk in a hurry.

A person who advocates being close to nature, especially if he is still a little lazy, sees others doing things in a hurry, which makes him feel very uncomfortable.

"Since Dan has come, if Gongsun has an order, he will obey it and express it clearly." Lao Tzu said.

Recently, besides studying smelting, Zhiyao has done another thing, which is to build a "school".

This is a place for teaching. Its main structure is wood, and the space inside is very large, with rows of tables and seats arranged.

In order to make the lecturers comfortable and to teach more intuitively, Zhiyao also got a blackboard and chalk.

If there is anything I gain from visiting Zhishi as a guest, it is definitely the blackboard and chalk, but I have some opinions on the unfamiliar desks and chairs used by the students in the lectures.

Sitting on knees is the mainstream these days. If I insist, sitting upright is the posture that a student should have.

Zhishi's students sat on the chairs with their buttocks, their legs can be placed on the ground naturally, and their hands can also be placed on the table. When I saw it for the first time, I felt weird no matter how I looked at it.

Seeing Lao Tzu's firm attitude, Zhiyao really didn't understand why he was not considerate enough in hospitality.

In these days, Zhiyao not only responded to Lao Tzu's requests, but also favored him in terms of accommodation and food.

There are delicacies that change every day, and there are people serving them all the time. How can I still feel dissatisfied?
Zhiyao thought about it, and then made some clear requests to Lao Tzu.

"The art of governance?" Lao Tzu was taken aback for a very obvious moment, and murmured: "Tao has form, and everything has its laws; difficult things in the world must be done when they are easy, and major things in the world must be done in detail; do what has not been done, and rule what has not been chaotic. ..."

At this moment, I couldn't imagine how the young Zhiyao could say those words worth tasting. He even felt that a door to immortality had been opened, and the more he pondered, the more excited he became.

Seeing that Lao Tzu was stunned, Zhiyao knew that once a scholar fell into his own academic ocean, it would be difficult for him to extricate himself for a while, so he left and continued to busy with his own affairs.

Iron smelting needs time to experiment slowly, and Zhiyao thinks it's time for another experiment.

He came to a yard.

A lot of pools have been dug in this yard, which have stored water earlier, and different materials have been soaked in each pool.

Some pools are soaked in bark, hemp heads, and cloth, and there are also pools soaked in rattan, bamboo, and straw.

"I need to make tools for smashing materials first..." Zhiyao thinks this is not difficult.

Of course Chunqiu has pounding tools, but they are too primitive. When pounding rice, people pound it repeatedly with a piece of wood.

What Zhiyao wants to do is a tool based on the principle of leverage. Its production is not complicated. It is nothing more than a fulcrum as a resistance arm, and a piece of wood on the fulcrum as a power arm.

Do you know the seesaw? In fact, it is such a similar thing. To smash things, you need to get a mallet at one end, and the power arm can move up and down to pound.

Zhiyao is just instructing, and the real workers are Zhishi's craftsmen.

"Why did I just make this thing now? If I had done it earlier, it would have saved a lot of labor!" Zhiyao slapped herself on the forehead.

Do you know how troublesome it is to pound rice now?If there are a lot of people in the family, a woman does not have enough time to do nothing but pound rice all day. If many women work together, the efficiency is still very slow.

Zhiyao's eyes became very bright, and she thought: "I may not be able to participate in the family's decision-making. Is it not a credit to make tools that are beneficial to the family and improve the productivity of the old Zhi's family? As long as my grandfather and father are not faint , the position of heir is mine!"
