Riding the wind of rebirth

Chapter 1454 Fengdu

Chapter 1454 Fengdu

The next day, the ship arrived at Fengdu.

Fengdu is known as a ghost town, but the origin of this ghost town stems from a funny mistake.

This was once one of the important bases of Tianshi Tao. When Zhang Daoling founded Tianshi Taoism, he set up twenty-four Taoist temples in Sichuan as administrative offices to manage the people. Later, his descendant Zhang Heng established "Pingdao" in the famous mountains of Fengdu. "Du Zhi", at least during the Northern Wei Dynasty, Li Daoyuan's "Shui Jing Zhu" still ranked it as the 45th among the seventy-two caves of Taoism.

Therefore, this place has a very strong Taoist background, and there are endless practitioners of Taoism. During the Eastern Han Dynasty, there were two alchemists, Yin Changsheng, and Wang Fangping practiced here and became immortals, and they ascended in the daytime. In the Tang Dynasty, some people connected their surnames and regarded them as one person, calling them "King of Yin".

As a result, the famous mountain gradually evolved into the cave of the legendary "King of Yin", that is, the divine king in charge of the underworld. Combined with the legends of the Taoist Beiyin Emperor, the Buddhist Yama King and the Ghost Emperor, the legends became more and more true, and various temples and gods were created. more.

I don’t know whether it was a coincidence or intentional. During the Sui Dynasty, this place was named after the Taoist hell "Fengdu". Later, it was changed several times. In the Ming Dynasty, this name was used again.

But this time, it is no longer a coincidence, but a real "right match".

Fengdu once experienced a catastrophe. Important cultural relics such as steel statues and bells on famous mountains were smashed into scrap metal for "steel making". In the past sixty years, cultural relics on famous mountains were destroyed again, and all kinds of statues of gods disappeared.

Even so, the scale of the more than 20 palaces and temples on the famous mountain still exists. In 1982, Yuzhou rebuilt a national-level "ghost town" tourist attraction and built Fengdu into the first tourist attraction in the Three Gorges tourism. Let this place be The house became very lively.

Then a bad thing happened. The antique buildings and sculptures along the Mingshan Road became a mixture of ancient and modern, with the real and the fake appearing at the same time. Moreover, many of the imitations were extremely clumsy. In Zhou Zhi's eyes, this was actually a kind of damage to the monuments.

However, Li Laosan thinks that Zhou Zhi is too perfectionist. After all, everyone is extremely poor now. At least this place can make money for the local government. This has value. With value, efforts will naturally be invested in protecting it. In this way, Active behavior is far more effective than unspontaneous passive behavior.

This argument is indeed true. For example, the "Ghost Kingdom Shrine" that integrates sound and light effects can be called an ancient version of "horror script killer". Although Zhou Zhi found such a thing ridiculous, he was frightened when he hugged it. Jiang Shuyi took a walk inside, which is another kind of "emotional value" that this place can provide.

The warm and fragrant soft jade hug made Zhou Zhi feel that the expensive fare of 20 yuan was not a waste at all.

Moreover, it is free for everyone in my group, because they are the sponsors, and the local cultural center arranges to receive them all the way.

There is another site in Gaojia Town on the Fengdu River that is not well known, but was later listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit - Gaojia Town Site.

In March last year, an expedition team sponsored by the foundation discovered more than a dozen stone artifacts in an area of less than one square meter on a gravel slope in Guihua Village, Gaojia Town. This discovery immediately received additional funding from the Cultural Preservation Fund. Over the past two months, the expedition team conducted a detailed inspection of the site. More and more stone products were excavated, and many of them were large and giant gravel tools, including Paleolithic choppers. Mainly, there are also scrapers, etc.

It was finally determined that this should be a place for stone collection and stone tool production and processing. The site specimens are densely packed and thickly piled. The stone products are large in number, rich in type, and of high quality. The distribution area is as large as more than 10,000 square meters, and the culture is profound. It is the earliest Paleolithic cultural relic found in the Three Gorges area so far.

Because it is too close to the river beach, the state has included in the ranks of rescue excavations, but the state's fund allocation has not been in place yet. Therefore, the foundation allocated start-up funds in time based on the level of excavation. Therefore, when people from the Cultural Bureau led Zhou Zhi and his party to the riverside, it had become a huge construction site.

The leader of the team working here is Professor Li who was transferred from the Nanjing Cultural Preservation Institute and has participated in the excavation of important sites in Tianluoshan and Qujialing.

"Thank you very much to the comrades of the Cultural Preservation Fund for your strong support!" Professor Li excitedly shook hands with Li Laosan, Lin Wanqiu, and Zhou Zhi in turn: "Without your timely allocation of funds, our work would have been postponed to at least the end of next year. Expand! Thanks, thank you so much!”

Li Laosan already knows how to respond to the current situation in China. From the red scarf to him, it is the same standard: "This is what we should do. We don't deserve Professor Li's gratitude."

Lin Wanqiu also said: "Indeed, after seeing such a big scene, our money was not wasted."

"The reason why it is so big is that we took advantage of this opportunity to hold a large class." Professor Li introduced: "'Paleolithic Archeology Training Class in the Three Gorges Project Submerged Area'!"

"The archaeological teams that came from all over the country to support us, especially those assigned to engage in Neo-Paleolithic archeology, first came here to conduct systematic archaeological studies, and then, according to organizational assignments, went to the sites they were responsible for to conduct excavations."

"In this way, our projects here are spread out a bit." Professor Li continued: "At present, the total area of the Gaojia Town ruins excavation is 64 square meters, which is divided into three work areas, of which Area A is 126 square meters. , Area B is 330 square meters, Area C is square meters.”

"Area A is the area where we first discovered stone artifacts in the strata. The cultural relics are buried in a gravel layer 6.7 meters below the ground. Part of the gravel layer has been cemented into conglomerate. The cultural layer is about two meters thick."

"This is our key work area. The excavation has been basically completed. A large number of stone products such as choppers, pointed tools, scrapers, stone hammers, etc. have been unearthed, totaling more than 1,500 pieces, amounting to one ton."

"So many?!" Li Laosan was shocked: "So many stone tools were dug out within an area of 64 square meters?!"

Everyone was amazed. It was a bit exaggerated that so many Paleolithic tools could be unearthed in more than sixty square meters, which is the area of a small three-bedroom apartment.

The foundation's investment is really cost-effective, it can be called a timely help, and it can be regarded as the first shot. Although the country will definitely be responsible for the main additional funding in the future, the joint efforts are enough for everyone to be proud of.

"That's why we have to hold a class!" Professor Li said excitedly, waving his hands with muddy nails: "There are enough samples in this place for students to learn!"
