Riding the wind of rebirth

Chapter 1639 Foresight

As signs of a successful economic soft landing become increasingly apparent, the catering industry seems to be booming.

In Zhou Zhi's impression, the catering industry has been in operation since 1983 until now. In fact, even during the period of regulation and when many industries cyclically cooled down, it has not been affected too much.

Matching this phenomenon is the fact that the shares of Laojiu held by Zhou Zhi have doubled in price so far.

After all, catering and the general public are inseparable. It seems that the efforts of this industry cannot keep up with people’s pursuit of material life, and the gap is even quite huge.

Fortunately, Rong Leyuan has gained some fame by now, so Zhang Yuanfu also laid out the business methods of his ancestor Lan Guangjian. He only does 90% of the business every day and reserves two private rooms for emergencies.

Today Zhouzhi and his friends used one.

In the eyes of engineering students, Zhou Zhi is a magical existence. Not only does he have first-class programming skills, but his software engineering management ability can also be described as outstanding.

All these are fine. The most amazing thing is that this guy is proficient in both arts and sciences. He often uses liberal arts thinking to adjust science. Many of the results he has achieved are the kind that pure science majors would find difficult to achieve.

For example, the previous Hanwen large character library, the current graph database, super search engine and big data analysis are all "services" tailored for digital libraries.

However, as the Internet has been influxing into people's lives, at least the participants of these projects have vaguely seen the direction. Regardless of whether Zhouzhi formulated these research and development directions intentionally or unintentionally, the unified Chinese code brought by the development of Hanwen large character library has made the unique Internet Chinese domain name possible.

Then we started to develop the China Online Yellow Pages, and now we are combining the Online Yellow Pages with the graph database that we have just developed. The small amount of data matches the primary database research and development application, which is a perfect fit.

At this point, everyone knows what to do next - portal websites, content providers, and browsers with built-in powerful graph database backend search functions. It's simply amazing!

These functions can also be applied to chat tools, such as finding partners with similar values; they can be used on forums to form topic groups with similar interests; they can be used in e-commerce malls to provide users with links to products of potential interest...

Not many people can see these things today, and most technology companies are still solving the problems at hand. However, Zhou Zhi's ideas and vision seem to be aimed at the market ten or even twenty years later, which is extremely forward-looking and predictive.

The Shuimu Tsinghua University and the Clover Forum, which are being hyped up now, are completely child's play in the eyes of real Clover people.

In Hu Tianyu's words, our forum structure was actually given by our boss to refresh us when we were drowsy on a hot summer day.

Then everyone really couldn't sleep and worked overtime and stayed up late, just hoping that they could have a place in this architecture.

Soon everyone began to discuss the recently established graphic edge recognition technology.

This technology is actually developed from the earliest root character recognition technology. Its original purpose is to enable the program to automatically decompose new characters into corresponding root characters when they are retrieved, and then automatically generate character composition rules based on their combination rules and other factors. This rule determines the code position and input method of the character library.

In the development of the second and third phases of the Hanwen character library, in addition to the very complete handmade Chinese character flashcards provided by the two senior brothers, the automatic root recognition and Chinese character decomposition technology also played an indispensable role.

Microsoft saw this prospect and decided to bundle the first phase of the Han character library with the operating system. Apple and UNIX followed suit immediately. The three major systems all accepted the unified Han character library, laying a solid foundation for unifying the Chinese character code around the world. After the successful development of the Han character library, this technology was not shelved, but further developed into pattern recognition technology.

As information carriers in a graphic sense, radicals are the simplest and most basic graphics for computers to recognize, and are quite easy to identify.

However, it is not so easy to introduce marginal matching, fuzzy matching and chaotic matching.

Among the three types of matching, marginal matching is relatively easy. It involves setting various elements for the edge of the graphic, such as the three-dimensional boundary parameters of the graphic, as well as tolerable redundancy values. These parameters are then converted into vector parameters to simplify the mathematical expression of rotation. Finally, they are expressed using a program to simulate the entire process of humans finding boundaries, rotating and adjusting tiles, and trying to piece them together.

The most direct application of this process is to piece together ancient fragments such as large-scale porcelain caches, bronze caches, and the very important - existing oracle bone graphic archives.

An example can vividly illustrate the usefulness of this program.

At present, several national museums have carried out rubbing, drawing and photographing of all the existing bone fragments with text.

These oracle bones were discovered at different times and in different locations. The transfer process was complicated and the archiving methods were different. As a result, there are a large number of duplicate records, inverted rubbings, and fragmented phenomena.

The oracle inscriptions on oracle bones are the first-hand materials for studying the history of the Shang Dynasty and are extremely valuable. However, among all the oracle bones, the majority are extremely damaged, which makes many of the inscriptions fragmented and unable to be read, which is a very regrettable thing.

This also gave rise to a special discipline - oracle bone splicing.

The reason why this subject is important is that it can piece together fragments to turn them into complete or relatively complete oracle inscriptions, thus making them valuable and usable historical materials.

The most famous case of splicing is an achievement of Wang Guowei, a famous scholar of oracle bone literature.

In 1917, when Wang Guowei was writing the book "Research and Interpretation of Yinxu Characters in Jianshou Hall", he found that two pieces of the bone fragments could be joined together. After joining together, the fragments formed a relatively complete genealogical oracle: "The upper Jia is ten, the Bao Yi is three, the Bao Bing is three, the Bao Ding is three, the main Ren is three, and the main Gui is three."

Sima Qian's description of the Shang dynasty in the "Records of the Grand Historian: Annals of Yin" is: "Wei died, and his son Baoding was enthroned. Baoding died, and his son Baoyi was enthroned. Baoyi died, and his son Baobing was enthroned. Baobing died, and his son Zhuren was enthroned. Zhuren died, and his son Zhugui was enthroned. Zhugui died, and his son Tianyi was enthroned, and this was Cheng Tang."

"Wei" is called "Shangjia" in oracle bone inscriptions. "Wei" is the name, and "Shangjia" is the title. In the royal family of Shang Dynasty, all the ancestors and kings after "Wei" have titles based on the heavenly stems. The sentence pattern "Xuan died, and his son Su succeeded" in "Book of Yin" means "After his father 'Xuan' died, his son 'Xuan' succeeded him as king."

Before the discovery of oracle bone inscriptions at Yinxu, most scholars were skeptical about this genealogy in the "Book of Yin".

This oracle inscription of the genealogy that Wang Guowei pieced together proved that the record of the royal family of Shang in the Book of Yin was credible, and also revealed that the three generations after "Shang Jia" were "Bao Yi, Bao Bing, Bao Ding" in order. This corrected the small mistake of the Book of Yin that put "Bao Ding" before "Bao Yi".

This combination of facts has refuted the idea that there was no history before the Eastern Zhou Dynasty a hundred years ago, directly confirmed the existence of the Shang Dynasty, and pushed the era of Chinese history forward to the Shang Dynasty more than 3,000 years ago. (End of this chapter)
