Riding the wind of rebirth

Chapter 2005 does not conform to the logic of fraud

People around also gathered around, but they were all experts and did not reach out to the plates on the table, but they started talking about it.

"Brother, you are mistaken, right? This plate is quite famous here."

"Oh, this is the radish plate that Old Man Lu had! There are many who say it's fake, but there are also some who say it's real. However, those who say it's real don't dare to buy it."

"We've all checked it out. The biggest problem with this plate is the bottom. Have you checked the bottom, brother?"

"Three thousand yuan! I was wondering why this old guy didn't come here today! He must have eaten a big lamb!"

"What are you arguing about?" Master Ma came out from the inner room: "Why is it suddenly so lively?"

"Master Ma, two kids here bought the carrot plate from Old Man Lu and spent three thousand dollars. It seems that Old Man Lu gave in and even ate the lamb."

"Hey, Elbow, Xiao Miao, have you all started eating?" When Ma Ye saw the two people slurping their breakfast, he walked over and sat down beside them: "This... is not for me?"

"Yes, yes, yes. This young master also ordered two pancakes. I think they are for you." The man said quickly, "Please wait a moment. I will be right there!"

Master Ma looked around and said, "This is my friend from Shuzhong. Why are you surrounding them?"

"Master Ma, this guy bought the Rouge Water Radish Plate from Old Man Lu for three thousand dollars."

"Really?" Ma Ye was stunned, and then he noticed the small plate next to the plate of tea eggs on the table: "Elbow, did you buy this?"

"Well, I'm lucky this time." Zhou Zhi picked up the fried liver and put it into his mouth: "Master Ma, take a look too."

"I've seen this before." Master Ma said, "Take it down, and you'll definitely treat it as the rouge purple from the Yongzheng official kiln, right?"

"Oh, yes. The outer skin is rouge purple, and the inner part is pink radish and bats, which means 'good fortune', so it can be called rouge purple good fortune dish."

Master Ma didn't say much, he just turned the plate over, revealing a pastel-colored longevity peach at the bottom of the bowl, with four small characters in cinnabar red written in the middle of the peach, not particularly neatly: "Made in the Yongzheng Period" "Then can you explain this?"

"Yes!" The man who came in with the pancake put it down and said, "This is a red color that was brought from overseas in the late Kangxi period. It's called Western red. Because the color is made of one to two ten-thousandths of gold, it's also called golden red."

"Yes," Zhou Zhi nodded. "This red material is greatly affected by the firing temperature. The temperature determines the color of the object. When fired at a medium temperature, the color appears like the rouge used in women's makeup, so it is named 'rouge red'."

"If the temperature is lower, the color will turn into deep purple, which is called 'rouge purple', while if the temperature is slightly higher, the color will turn lighter and more pink, and it should be called 'rouge water'."

"Rouge glaze cannot be used to burn large objects. Most of the objects are small cups, bowls, water pots, etc., because it must be overglaze color and must be blown glaze. Only when the glaze layer is thin enough can the color change be reflected."

"The body of the small plate is white and thin, the glaze is even and pure, and the rouge glaze is pure in color. Logically, it should be a fine product from the official kiln." said a collector nearby.

"Yes, the radish depicted in this painting is also exquisite. It was made using the imperial kiln enamel method. After fine carving, it was colored and fired. The craftsman ingeniously carved the holes caused by insects on the radish berries. It is quite vivid and elegant, and has a certain sense of life." "But..." Zhou Zhi knew that the main part of the drama was about to begin, and sure enough, he heard someone say, "But this base pattern..."

"Don't argue," Master Ma picked up the pancake, broke it in half, and took a bite of the upper half on his right hand. "Elbow's level is much higher than ours. If he thinks it's right, we should listen to him."

The room finally quieted down.

Zhou Zhi then smiled and said, "It seems that everyone is an expert. I won't say much. In a word, if we talk about Rouge Purple, or the Pink Radish, or move the longevity peach at the bottom to the inside of the plate, and then change the bottom mark to a double-circled six-character regular script mark, or a blue and white four-character Yongzheng year mark, then everyone will have no doubts at all?"

Everyone nodded, and someone immediately said, "If that's the case, I would have bought it long ago for thirty thousand, not to mention three thousand."

Everyone laughed, and someone immediately retorted: "Wei Laoyao, stop talking nonsense. If that were the case, would Old Man Lu put it on the stall?"

Everyone was happy again.

"In fact, the biggest question about this artifact is the bottom." Zhou Zhi turned the plate over again: "This bottom is not a hall name, not two styles, not a simple blue and white painting, but a very delicate and beautiful pink and white peach branch."

"The reason is simple. There is no need. Even the most perfect official kiln porcelain rarely has its bottom exposed. Therefore, the bottom of the vessel usually has a relatively simple inscription, and it is very rare to see a bottom with fine shallow carvings and pastel paintings."

"If that were all, I believe many people here would still dare to take a gamble, because after all, the painters are still around, and many veterans can tell the authenticity with just one touch. Even if they have never seen this kind of pastel painting before, they can still identify it."

"But on the bottom of the vessel, there are four red characters in regular script: 'Made in the Yongzheng Period', which completely destroys the picture. At least the beauty of the longevity peach is taken away."

"What's even more ridiculous is that these four characters are not as neat and beautiful as the common official kiln bottom inscriptions. Both the strokes and the word formation appear to be a bit clumsy. For example, the lower horizontal stroke of Zheng is obviously a bit too long, exceeding the range of the square formed by the four characters. The character "Nian" is a bit small compared to the other three characters, and the character "Yong" is a bit too large, making the whole look a bit crooked."

"Yes! That's it!" Someone who had expressed his opinion before probably had an impatient temper and immediately spoke up again: "Sometimes I wish I could buy this plate, grind the bottom, and then paste another bottom on it and sell it as an official kiln product!"

Everyone started making fun of you again, saying that you must have done this kind of thing many times.

There are several methods of counterfeiting porcelain, but none of them can be considered complete counterfeits. Sometimes a bottle has a very exquisite belly and no problems with the bottom, but if the neck of the bottle is broken, it becomes a waste product.

But if the damaged neck of the bottle does not affect the picture on the belly, then you can simply cut off the top of the bottle, smooth the rim, and transform the original bottle into a water jar.

This can fool a large group of people, after all, this is a real thing, so the more real experts who are rich in book experience but lack practical experience, the easier it is for them to be fooled.

There is another method, which is what the person just mentioned, called grinding the bottom. For example, if you would grind off the bottom marks of the fine works of the Tongzhi and Guangxu dynasties that imitated the previous three dynasties, then take the bottom of a piece of discarded Kangxi and Yongzheng porcelain and repair it neatly, and inlay it on the bottom of the Tongzhi and Guangxu porcelain. The value of the porcelain would instantly increase tenfold or a hundredfold.

Now this plate is so beautifully made, but the bottom is just short of telling others blatantly - "I am a fake". Even antique imitations don't do this.

This is totally inconsistent with the logic of fraud. (End of this chapter)
