Chapter 12 The Russo-Turkish War
Chapter 12 The Russo-Turkish War (Target Okhachav, Go!)
The four rode to the front of the array.
Seeing the four standing still, Ekaterina said:
Children of Mother Russia!
I, the first servant of all Russian people, Catherine II, have something to announce to you!
Soldiers!Today, I officially announced!I will respond to the declaration of war by the Turkish Turks! The Turks have trampled on our land, ruined our wives and children, and made the Slavs into slaves. I have defeated the Turks, but now the Turks have once again challenged the great Russia. The Tatars once fought against the Slavs Domineering over the head, now we have sent it to Hell, the Poles also want to override the head of Russia, and now they are panicking! The Slavs have overcome countless difficulties!Countless trials! The lofty and stoic Slavic peoples will go to war with the arrogant and despicable Turkey!Let them pay their blood debt!I have only one order!Army, advance!Ulla!
Thousands of people in the square shouted: Long live Her Majesty the Queen!Ulla!
As far as the eye can see, countless people are cheering
Ulla!
Ulla!
After the voice became quieter, Alexander nodded slightly to Ekaterina, and then said: "Send the order, and the whole army sets out."
Pyotr Alexandrovich Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky yelled: "The front becomes the rear, the whole army, let's go."
The orderly behind the four screamed: The front team has changed to the rear team, the whole army, let's go.
Afterwards, the array began to turn around, and the rear team turned into the front team, slowly walking out of the square one by one, onto Moscow Avenue.
Seeing that there were fewer and fewer troops on the square, Alexander said to Ekaterina who was pulling his horse rein: Grandma, please bless me, I will plant the Romanov flag in Constantinople.
Ekaterina replied: Dear little Alexander, be very careful in everything. Although the Privy Council has made a plan for the marching route, everything on the battlefield is changing rapidly. You must pay attention to everything that is not good for you. I will be in St. Petersburg Waiting for your victory.
Alexander nodded and said: Yes, my dear grandmother.
Immediately with the trio of Peter Alexandrovich Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky, Johann Martin von Elmpter and Prince Gula Ivanovich Saltykov , Drive the horses, keep up with the large troops.
The entire Guards began to move out of St. Petersburg, and on Moscow Street, where the entire army passed, cheers were drowned out.
······
Tens of thousands of infantry were trekking. When they saw Ekaterinoslav, Major General Grigory Nikolaevich Repnin, the frontier guard of the commanding army, couldn't help scolding: What did the Imperial Privy Council think? , why let Grand Duke Vladimir command it?The Grand Duke's staff officer is really incompetent!
The generals around him were also full of complaints, someone said; General, although it is Grand Duke Vladimir, there is Marshal Peter Alexandrovich Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky.
Aren't you just saying that the marshal is incompetent? Isn't that too much?
Grigory Nikolaevich Repnin scolded: Who cares!I have been waiting in Tver, and the military order given to me by the Privy Council also said to meet the guards from St. Petersburg in Tver, and then go to Smolensk to join the border guards in Smolensk, and then drive directly to Ochakov, but the Grand Duke has issued a military order to let us go directly to Ekaterinoslav.Isn't this changing from day to day?I reckon the Grand Duke came here this time because of the inlaid gold.
Everyone agreed for a while, and then entered Yekaterinoslav's residence.
Then comes the trimming.
Although Alexander performed well in countering the rebellion last year, in the eyes of the reformed generals, he is still just talking on paper and cannot be regarded as real.
Every day Grigory Andreevich Repnin yelled and cursed, saying that what a brat was doing on the battlefield, he would rather be happy in the Winter Palace.
Grigory Andreevich Repnin was a veteran, whose grandfather was Prince Anikita Ivanovich Repnin, a follower of Peter the Great and later promoted to Field Marshal.
And Grigory Andreevich Repnin was a Cossack cavalry colonel before the army reform, and it is said that he will be promoted to the post by his uncle Prince Nikolai Vasilievich Repnin in the first half of his stay Cossack Lieutenant General.
Unexpectedly, the army suddenly reformed, and he was transferred to the Second Moscow Frontier Army as an infantry colonel.
In the past few days, when the frontier guards started their drills, he was yelling and cursing everywhere, and everyone just listened to it.
While yelling and cursing today, there was a loud sound of footsteps, and someone rushed in from the camp gate with a horse and reined in the horse inside the camp gate.
The horse man neighed, and the Cossack shouted: Grand Duke Vladimir, Marshal Peter Alexandrovich Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky, Gula Ivanovich Saar Prince Tikov and General Johann Martin von Elmpter are here!
In an instant, Grigory Andreevich Repnin was covered in cold sweat, thinking that if he heard the scolding just now, wouldn't he have to be beaten to the end and go home as a waste!
Stop practicing!
The frontier guards began to assemble and line up to welcome the four of Alexander.
General Johann Martin von Elmpter came surrounded by hundreds of Cossack cavalry.
Grigory Andreevich Repnin, led by a man, came to meet him.
Johann Martin von Elmpter came first, and it was only when he got close that his face was covered with dust.
The frontier guards drilled as usual.
Johann Martin von Elmpter dismounted and said: His Excellency the Grand Duke will be here soon.
The crowd hurriedly turned around with Johann Martin von Elmpt to greet them in front of the camp gate.
Later, thousands of Cossacks came before Alexander, Peter Alexandrovich Rumyantsev-Zadunaiski, and Gula Ivanovich Saltykov.
Alexander reined in the horse, and as soon as the horse stopped, he dismounted naturally.
And Peter Alexandrovich Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky was there.
Gula Ivanovich Saltykov was in charge of the baggage.
After Alexander dismounted, he went to help Pyotr Alexandrovich Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky off his horse.
Pyotr Alexandrovich Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky patted Alexander's hand supporting him and asked: Your Excellency, how do you see the drill.
Alexander nodded, it's okay, it seems that he is training strictly according to the new drill code written by you, Marshal.
Peter Alexandrovich Rumyantsev-Zadunaiski nodded and said: Yes, it is true that I trained according to the new drill code I wrote, but in the end, I still have to walk on the battlefield once to know.
Grigory Andreevich Repnin hastily explained: Your Excellency the Marshal, Your Excellency the Grand Duke, after receiving the new drills, the Border Guard Corps has been undergoing strict training, and there is no time to slack off.
Peter Alexandrovich Rumyantsev-Zadunaiski said: "That's it, keep practicing, follow me, let's go to win."
Grigory Andreyevich Repnin said: How can Russia win this time!
Pyotr Alexandrovich Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky nods, I am sure of it!
Keep practicing!
Grigory Andreevich Repnin rushed into the border guards, and the border guards resumed their drills.
Pyotr Alexandrovich Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky signaled to Alexander not to support him anymore, in Alexander
The Cossack general of the [-]st Moscow Frontier Army quietly came to Grand Duke, Grigory Andreyevich Repnin was quite disrespectful to you earlier.
Yeah? , Alexander nodded slightly, indicating that he understood.
After the suppression of the rebellion last year, a large number of grassroots generals went out from the Augustus Guards, and this Cossack general was one of them.
······
There are two stoves in the room, which is very warm.
Peter Alexandrovich Rumyantsev-Zadunaiski went in first, and praised as soon as he entered: "It's comfortable!"
After everyone came in and sat down, Alexander ordered: "Bring over the map of the Okhachav area."
Someone brought the map and hung it on the wall, and Peter Alexandrovich Rumyantsev-Zadunaiski warmed his hands on the stove, got up and walked over, and began to tell the story of the day before yesterday from Kimboon. Military News: Since the Duke of Tavlia arrived in New Russia a month ago, he has surrounded the Turks' army in Jinbuen. Boone is close, and Suvorov has now entered the Caucasus. Now tell me how to fight this battle.
Everyone gathered around the stove and began to discuss, but nothing was discussed yet.
Peter Alexandrovich Rumyantsev-Zadunaiski clapped his hands to signal everyone's attention and said: Everyone, stop for a moment and listen to the Grand Duke's thoughts first.
It was true that Alexander walked to the map, picked up a branch and began to explain his thoughts.
In the original plan of the Privy Council, I would join the two border guards from the Central Military District in Tver, join the five border guards from the Smolensk Military District in Smolensk, and then go directly to Kherson and Tavlia Together the duke conquered Okhachev, and then joined forces with the Austrian army at the city of Izmail.
This was the previous strategic plan, but now, the army has arrived in Yekaterinoslav.
So I had an idea with Marshal Rumyantsev on the way, that is, let's not go to Kherson, let's change places...
Alexander pointed ahead with a branch.
Ohachav?
Yes, Okhachav!
Someone asked: Your Excellency the Grand Duke, but Okhachav is the place where the Turkish reinforcements landed. Is it a bit dangerous to choose a place, or we should proceed as planned.
Alexander said: It is precisely because that is where the Turkish reinforcements landed, so I chose where. The most urgent thing for the Turks at present is to win Kimboon and open the road to Kherson. The reason why the meeting point is changed to Ekaterinoslav is to make the illusion of advancing to Kherson and Kimboon , as long as we are fast enough, advance all the way from Nikolayev to Okhachev. An artillery force of 2 men was enough to completely wipe Okhachav off the map.
Pyotr Alexandrovich Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky took up the conversation: the whole army is going to go to Nikolayev at once, and from Nikolayev to Okhachev, I and Vladimir Grand Duke Ladimir will keep the eyes of the Turkish scouts here until tomorrow morning, so hurry up. Judging from the current intelligence, the Turks want to fight us steadily.
Fuck it, fight steadily, you must know that soldiers are impermanent.
go quickly.
Alexander looked at Grigory Andreevich Repnin, does Admiral Gregory have anything to say?
Grigory Andreyevich Repnin, the head of the Second Moscow Frontier Corps, has the right to speak,
But when he got up, his forehead was sweating.
is it hot?Alexander asked very kindly.
Although there are two stoves in the room, the door is halfway open, and the wind is blowing in, and it is still cold.
Everyone also felt strange.Don't know where Grigory Andreevich Repnin came from.
Grigory Andreevich Repnin thought that Alexander was asking himself what he thought of the plot, and more importantly why he had been disrespectful to him.
Under the eyes of everyone, he saluted and said: Your Excellency the Grand Duke, I offended the Grand Duke with my bad words earlier, please punish the Grand Duke.
Then he knelt down.
What does it mean?
Alexander said indifferently: I am asking you, General, what you think about this war. Why do you kneel down? Russia has abolished this kind of salute in the army since the end of last year.
But the more Alexander said this, the more frightened Grigory Andreevich Repnin was, "I implore the Grand Duke to punish him."
I see.
Alexander seemed magnanimous, but Grigory Andreyevich Repnin was uneasy.
I see.
But did not say how to deal with it.So this punishment was hanging over Grigory Andreyevich Repnin's head, it was just to see when it would fall.
Pyotr Alexandrovich Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky ordered: The regiments set off immediately, sneak up to Nikolayev, and then go south to Okhachev. The battle of Okhachev will be the first battle of the left army. If we win, Grand Duke Vladimir and I will ask His Majesty for credit.
When it was getting dark the next day, Alexander and Peter Alexandrovich Rumyantsev-Zadunaisky set off with Augustus's legion, all the way to Okhachev.
