Chapter 32 New Elements

Justin Hammer left Ivan in a secret lab in California.

Ivan could hardly believe his good luck.A week ago he was living and working in two rooms, using stolen electricity and a computer he picked up from someone else's trash.

Now in front of him is a whole floor of top-of-the-line computers and tools.Whether it is smelting, machining, welding, wiring, electroplating, or microwave circuits, everything needed is available... "If my father can get the right to use such a laboratory," Ivan thought, "he will change international."

Stark took that honor away.Ivan Vanko will take it back.

Much of the lab is dominated by rows of gleaming metallic drones, resembling human beings with clearly visible weaponry.

His task is to equip each drone with a shockwave converter. But before proceeding with the installation, he needs to know how the drones are put together. So he took one apart, exposing every single circuit board, and then he realized that these drones would perform better if one thing was removed: the pilot.

So, since Hammer left him to work here a few days ago, he's been turning each suit into a remote-controlled drone that can move independently of a pilot.

Now they are more efficient and deadlier. These drones are his soldiers, and while a few other tweaks are needed, they're sure to perform well.

Hammer disagreed. When he came to the laboratory to check the results of Ivan's work, he couldn't help but lose his temper.Because he found that there was no room for the driver on the armor.

"It's not a helmet," he said, holding up a drone's head. "It's an actual head. Ivan, what are you doing?"

"Drones are better," Ivan said.

"why?"

"People make mistakes," Ivan replied.

Hammer didn't like the answer: "I need the suits. The government wants the suits. The suits are what the people want. That's what makes them happy."

But Ivan just stared at him.Hammer returned the drone's head to him. “Ivan, these drones better steal the show,” he said. “It better shake the world.”

Ivan didn't say anything, and Hammer walked away, leaving him alone.Of course he also just wanted to be alone.Hammer still thinks he is in control of all this, but now this is Ivan Fanko's laboratory, and he will do things in his own way.

"One of these drones will be the last thing Tony Stark sees before he dies," thought Ivan.

In addition to this, there is another possibility, which Ivan desires even more, that is to let Stark see the machine that Ivan Fanko built for himself before he died.

At Edwards Air Force Base, a sergeant gathers the best and brightest combat engineers in the Air Force base and gathers them around the Mark 2 armor.Major Allen stood on Roddy's left, and Roddy stood next to his battle suit.

"We can't do anything except refill the ammunition and add some other weapons." The engineers said after studying it.

"Then add our style of painting to it." Major Allen said.

His commander wanted to show off the new suit at Stark Expo, but Roddy wanted to keep it as his hole card, because it wasn't something to put on stage.

But these plans he said did not count. He is just a soldier, obeying orders is his bounden duty.

His chief did not call Hammer to carry out the transformation of adding weapons like in the movie.Because the reserved slots were all filled by Stark Industries and John's private sponsorship.

Adding new arms requires adding new support arms, which is equivalent to adding another layer of arms to the armor. If they have this level, they will transform the military transport exoskeleton into Iron Man.

That still has to wait until now.

And the firepower of this thing is now impeccable enough.

John, who is still gambling, thinks about the direction of the plot, and throws the dice casually.

Cheers erupted from all around, and the chips in front of him were piled up again.

The war machine was given to the military in advance, and Hammer probably has no ability to transform any guy.

When Ivan Vanke controls the drone to start the attack, he will face the upgraded version of War Machine and Iron Man.

This change is not small, is it?Maybe the whip rope will be directly crushed by the group of Marauder missiles installed by himself on the war machine...

I didn't intervene in the plot, did I?Maybe it will be misfired?
John thought about picking up the dice again, rubbing it against Domino in Jessica's arms, and throwing it again.

"Oh oh oh!" There was another round of cheers.

Fury left boxes full of Howard Stark's files and personal effects.

There were briefings, blueprints, drafts, all kinds of stuff... and there was a roll of [-]mm film in there.

Coincidentally, Tony wasn't one for nostalgia, at least not until Pepper collected that famous "Tony Stark Has a Warm Heart" modern art piece.

But he knows who the collectors of these obsolete technologies are.

John has an old [-]mm film projector in his stash - in his lab.

He also said that it was drawn by a lottery in the mall, please, Tony will not laugh at a 21-year-old young man who is more outdated than my hobbies.

It's easy to admit it.

Tony set the film on the reel of the projector and started playing it.

Maybe this is the time to thank John.

It's part of a promotional video for the fair, the same one Tony had shown in previous weeks.

"Technology makes everything possible," Tony's father began his speech again, "I am Howard Stark, and everything you need in the future can be found here..." His voice softened , and then started again from the beginning, repeating the sentence.

Behind him is six-year-old Tony, playing with a Stark Expo miniature. "Tony, what are you doing there?" Howard shooed him away, repeating the opening sentence, which he kept forgetting the script so he was always improvising.

Tony began to ignore the content of the film, flipping through some notebooks left by his father, which were filled with mathematical formulas and experimental notes.

Then Tony heard his father's voice on the screen. "Tony, you are too young to understand some things, so I made a movie of them for you."

This sentence caught his attention.

"These are built for you," his father continued, "and one day you will understand that it represents not just an invention of people, but a key to the future.

I'm limited by the technology of my day, but one day you'll fix it for me and you'll change the world. The greatest creation of my life, now and in the future...is you. "

Tony was looking more closely now.He rewinds the film, and his father's words are still echoing in his mind...

right here!

Tony jammed the pen into the hinge of the projector and paused the film.He focuses on the puzzle passed to him by his father, and Tony does it himself, tuning backwards, frame by frame, until he sees it again.

That key is the model of the fair. And the arrangement of the buildings had some kind of hidden meaning... It fit what his father said.Tony turned the reel slowly, looking at each still frame, looking for the subtle differences between frames.

found it.Tony leaned forward, moving his finger slowly along the edge of the frame.

The moment Howard Stark utters the word "future," the exposition complex is arranged in such a way that it looks like...an atomic model of some element.

Tony stood up and walked over to John's drone station. "Dad, you have been dead for 20 years, and you can still give me lessons." He thought.

In order to get the Stark Expo model, Tony has to go to his office, which means he has to talk to Pepper, which will not go smoothly.

Tony took all the blame from her, and no matter how angry she was at him, it was his own fault.

Self-inflicted? How is it possible?
Tony got on the drone console and flew a drone to his company.

I even bought a box of strawberries on the way. With the smart payment on the drone, it is bound to John's account.

It's only six dollars, John won't argue with him, will he?
He remembered that Pepper was supposed to maybe... like strawberries?
Pepper was sitting upright behind his desk on the phone when the drone came to this office.

The drone released a virtual projection of Tony, as if a real person was sitting in front of Pepper.

Scanning began on the other side, and the model of the future city was piled aside.

"That's an illegal seizure of commercial assets..." Seeing Tony Stark suddenly appearing in front of him, Pepper just raised a finger to signal him to be quiet.

"Stark Industries owns and still owns the ownership of the Mark II platform." Pepper answered the words on the phone, obviously responding to the military that has a war machine but is unable to analyze it.

"When Mr. Stark announced that he was Iron Man, he made a promise to the United States..." The TV next to it played a news titled Stark is over.

"No, the suit is ours." Little Pepper continued to answer, with a simple but firm attitude.

"We trust him to protect us..." The TV was still ringing. "But he obviously didn't..."

"Yes but you're not... Potter..." Pepper stared at Stark sitting in front of him.

"Now we learn that his secretary, a woman named Virginia Pepper Potts, has been named executive director of Stark Industries."

"What qualifications does she have?" What was being shown on the TV surprisingly connected with what Pepper said.

"No," Pepper said over the phone.

"Mute," said Tony's projection.

The guy chattering on TV immediately shut up.

"Potter, Potter, listen to me. Don't tell me, we have the best patent lawyer in the country, and I'm not allowed to file a lawsuit." Pepper is still on the phone, and ignoring Tony may be Pepper's way of expressing dissatisfaction . "Then let the president sign an order?"

"Let's go to the fair and talk about what demo Hammer is going to do tomorrow night."

"Will Tony Stark go?" Pepper's eyes fell on the projection of Tony sitting next to him.

"Me?" Tony asked suspiciously.

"No, he won't, bye." Pepper was about to hang up.

"Hey, I want to go." Tony said.

"Are you free?" Tony asked the moment Pepper put down the phone.

"No." Pepper replied as if predicting, and she answered before Tony finished a few short words.

"Please, you just hung up the phone and you have nothing to do, just 30 seconds." Tony said.

Pepper raised his watch "29, 28..."

"Well, I just projected it over. I thought I was going to apologize, but I wasn't." Tony said.

"Aren't you here to apologize? Oh, of course not. At least you have to be present to apologize, right?" Little Pepper said, obviously in a bad mood.

"Listen, it's not for talking," Tony said seriously. "But I wasn't completely honest with you, I wanted to do the right thing."

Pepper just looked at Tony with squinted eyes and pursed lips.

"Do you know how short life is? If I never express... well it would be revelatory to me, I mean, I mean, I..."

"Stop it, because if you talk about me again, I can't help but hit your head with something." After speaking, Pepper leaned forward and clapped his hands on the desk, "I'm trying to manage a company, you Do you know what that includes doing?"

"Yes." Tony replied.

"Everyone was counting on you to be Iron Man, and you disappeared. I was just going around trying to put you out, and taking the pressure off of it. I was trying to do the job you were supposed to be doing."

Even in the laboratory, Tony was a little bit overwhelmed by Pepper's aura.

"Did you bring me strawberries?" Pepper asked in a more relaxed tone, and continued without waiting for Tony's answer, "Did you know that I'm only allergic to one thing in this world?"

Tony lowered his head and answered quickly, "Strawberry allergies." Then he looked up at Pepper's helpless smile, "This is progress, Pepper. I knew what you had to do with this thing."

"I need you..." Pepper said.

"I need you too..." Tony seemed to see a turning point.

"Leave immediately." Pepper said seriously.

Seeing it breaks down.

But at this moment, Natalie opened the door and came in, "Miss Potts?"

"come in."

Natalie is wearing a black dress today, her figure is very beautifully modified. She walked towards Potts swiftly and resolutely, and said, "Leave in 25 minutes." As if she didn't see Tony's projection, she went straight to Potts.

"Thank you." Pepper replied politely.

"Do you need any help?" asked Happy, who was standing at the door.

"No." Tony replied.

But Potts also replied at the same time, "I need... a little while."

"The two children of this divorce are not with me?" Tony thought he had told a joke, but no one paid him any attention.

He could only laugh dryly to himself, and looked back at Happy, who had always cooperated with him, and Happy gave Tony a mouth shape.

"Isn't it good?" Tony instantly understood what Happy meant.

The drone scan is complete, but Tony is not convinced that no one is paying attention to him.

He took the initiative to find something to say: "Are you still used to Stark Industries? Natalie?"

Natalie squinted at Tony, but didn't answer.

"Your name is Natalie, isn't it?"

No one answered.

"I thought you two were at odds?"

"no?"

"You just don't like me?"

"Don't talk?" Tony said to himself.

Pepper signed all the documents brought to Natalie and stood up, "Actually, you just came, maybe you and Natalie can talk about personal belongings."

Natalie, who has been ignoring Tony, immediately replied to Pepper, "No problem."

Pepper put all the things he needed into a black handbag and went straight out of the office without saying another word.

Natalie, who was tidying up her desk, had an infinite view of the canyon on her chest because she was leaning over.

"You can hold back." Natalie said.

"You're awesome, your cunning is amazing. How did you do it? You just destroy... you're a triple liar. I've never seen you like that, do you have anything real?" Tony Said, the words are not so much anger as surprise. "Do you speak Latin?"

Natalie tidied up the desktop and stood up holding the folder.

"Fallaces sunt rerum species," Natalie said casually, and walked away calmly.

"What do you mean? Wait, what? What did you say just now?" Tony's projected gaze turned to follow Natalie's leaving figure.

Natalie strode away and closed the door behind her.

"You're awesome," Tony yelled.

He felt that it was really, really hard for him to come here.

Tony's projection disappeared directly, and Tony in the laboratory gave the drone an automatic return command.

"Jarvis, what did Natalie mean just now?" Tony asked.

"Latin isn't in the library, sir."

"Fallaces sunt rerum species roughly means: the appearance of things is deceptive." Ah Fu replied.

"John also installed the Latin library for you?" Tony asked in surprise.

"No, sir. Language has its inherent laws, and I like to study these." Ah Fu replied. "So I went to Honghou and asked for her language bank."

Actively acquire knowledge?
Tony froze for a moment, forcing himself not to think about this question.

"Jarvis, the model of the city of the future, did the drone transmit it back to you?"

Jarvis showed the model.

"Okay, let's get to work." Tony began to operate the model. "How many buildings are there?"

"Count the Belgian waffle stand?" Jarvis joked.

"Ask what you know and show it."

"High-gloss giant globe." Tony looked at the model with bright eyes.Get started.

"Delete trail, delete."

"What do you want sir?" Jarvis asked.

"I'm discovering, correcting, rediscovering a new element," Tony laughs.

"Remove landscaping, bushes, trees, whatever."

"Parking lot, exit entrance."

"Building protons and neutrons within the framework of the pavilion."

"The proposed element should serve as a viable substitute for palladium metal." Jarvis observed the new element that appeared. "Unfortunately this cannot be synthesized."

"Huh?" Tony said "Really?"

It takes a lot of energy to manipulate the elements and break the chemical bonds between them, so Tony devised a crazy system to power his plan.

The components of this system include an array of high-powered lasers; a set of mirrors to focus the laser light to a specific point; Centrifuges for high-energy chemical reactions.

The system is complex, on par with molecular engineering. This device can be regarded as some kind of special particle accelerator, but the output is an energy beam of a specific frequency. If Tony's calculations are correct, this creates a new element.

He checked and everything seemed to be in place. The only thing left to do was to start experimenting, to see if he could create a new element in the hive.

John Wiersher came in from the door, "Do you want to help me redecorate this place?"

He seemed to see the function of this machine at a glance. He walked to the computer and calculated the reflection level of the energy beam.

Turn the valve that controls the orientation of that clear glass cube.

"That's how you aim at your target," John said.He didn't want to cut a hole in the wall like in the movie.

He activated the laser beam, which was deep red at first and rose to ultraviolet as Tony adjusted its frequency.

The time has come to see if he can create a new element. "God bless," Tony prayed.

The acceleration of the centrifuge reached the expected level, and the laser beam was emitted from the lens and then deflected by the prism.Aiming plate aimed directly at raw material.

"My God, John's calculation is so accurate?" Tony, who had already put on the control valve, said in surprise.

He hopes to turn the material on this target board into a new core for the Ark reactor.

When the laser shines on the aiming plate, the whole thing lights up, and Tony can't look at it even with his goggles on.Energy "crackled" around it, as if all nearby bursts of lightning had been concentrated.

Tony held his breath, the laser slowly dimmed, the accelerator gradually became silent, and a triangular object with strong light appeared in the center of the circular aiming board.

"Oh, you used my laser weapon prototype to create a new element?" John shouted cooperatively.

Tony was a little flustered for a moment, ha, thought you understood it?You are still far behind, young man.

Tony asked John while waiting for the new element to cool.

"Aren't you still playing in Monaco?" Tony said.

"After my assets doubled, he didn't allow me to continue gambling." John spread his hands, "So I came back at noon."

"I went to your villa before, and there is a man named Phil Coulson, let me tell you. He is going to be transferred to New Mexico, and they need you very much." John continued.

"A fascinating place." Tony picked up the tongs and picked up the new element. "It's a good place."

"That's what I said too." John laughed.

"It's pretty simple," he said.

"Congratulations, sir, you have created a new element," Jarvis said.

Tony put the stuff in what is now the Ark's reactor, and it blinked and made a "beep" sound: "Sir, the reactor has accepted a new core. I'll start diagnostics right away."

Tony let out a slow breath. "Not bad," he thought, "I should write Fury a thank you card."

"Fry, are you talking about a black corned egg with an eyepatch?" John asked.

"It seems that he not only invited me, ah, of course, it is the Super Boy Mystery Team after all." Tony said.
