The old biography of "Zuo Zhuan" was written by Zuo Qiuming in the Spring and Autumn Period, and modern scholars believe that it was compiled in the middle of the Warring States Period.

But whether it was written in the Spring and Autumn Period or in the Warring States Period, Zeng Guo should still exist at that time.

In 433 BC when Zeng Houyi died, the three families had been divided into Jin Dynasty, and the Eastern Zhou Dynasty had entered the Warring States Period.

Then if Zeng Guo is indeed Sui Guo, there is only one possibility, that is, the people of Zeng Guo call their monarch Zeng Hou, but they call themselves Sui Ren and Sui Di Ren to the outside world.

The name here is the name of the place, not the name of the country.

For example, the place where Jin is located is called Jin, the land of Qin is called Qin, and the land of Chu is called Chu.

But Zeng Guo did not take the usual path. Zeng Guo called his fief not Zeng Di, but Sui Di.

This led to outsiders calling Zeng Guo Sui Guo.

After all, "Country X" is rarely used in "Zuo Zhuan" to refer to countries, and they are usually referred to by single-character place names, such as Qin, Zhao, Wei, and Han.

The titles of the kings are all "so-and-so lord", "so-and-so king" and "so-and-so king".

For example, "Zuo Zhuan Six Years of Duke Huan": "King Wu of Chu invaded and ordered the emperor to seek success, and the army waited for him when he was weak, and he sent the young teacher Dong Cheng along with him."

The translation of this sentence is:
King Wu of Chu invaded Sui and sent Xie Zhang to ask for a peace agreement. The troops were stationed in Xia, waiting for negotiations, and Suiguo sent his junior division Dong Cheng to preside over the negotiations.

The "Xia" here is a place name. At the same time, "Sui" can be translated as Suiguo or Suidi.

Most of the records about Sui in "Zuo Zhuan" can be translated into Sui without any problem.

There is only one specific mention of the word "Suiguo", "Suiguo, Ji's surname."

Assuming that Zeng Guo refers to the place where he lives as Suidi instead of Zengdi.

In this way, it makes sense to call them "Sui" and "Sui Ren" in "Zuo Zhuan" and other history books.

Because Marquis Zeng himself called the territory under his rule any place!

Just like after the Han Dynasty, most Chinese people called themselves Han people, and called the land of China Han soil.

Including the official dynasty, they often call the land under their rule Han soil.

This does not affect in the slightest that the actual dynasties at that time were already Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing...

After the annexation of the Shang Dynasty Si surnamed Zeng Guo, the Zhou Dynasty enfeoffed the Ji surname Zeng Guo, and continued to use the businessman's name for this place: "Sui"!
In this way, it can explain why Ji's surname, Zeng Guo, calls his territory Anywhere.

Because the surname of Ji, Zeng Guo, was originally an outsider. After conquering any place by force, he settled down here!

Although the upper class nobles and troops came from Ji Zhou of the Central Plains.

But the lower-class people they ruled are all locals who were born and raised here, and they are citizens of Zeng Guo with the surname Si.
