Master Archaeologist

Chapter 2 Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties Project

Chapter 2 Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties Project

"The archaeological site we supported this time is located in Lajia Village, Guanting Town, Minhe County, Qinghai."

"That's why it's tentatively named the Lajia Ruins."

"According to the carbon fourteen detection of the early working team, the formation age of this site should be between 4100-4000 years ago!"

"The age is very close to the legendary Xia Dynasty!"

"The emergence of the Lajia ruins is of great importance to the Chinese civilization exploration project, which is self-evident!"

On the high-speed rail bound for Haining City, Qinghai Province, in a compartment surrounded by the Institute of Archaeology, Academy of Social Sciences, Kong Jianwen was passionately encouraging his disciples and archaeologists.

The senior sister sitting next to Chen Han murmured in a low voice with admiration: "The Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties project, unfortunately only the dynasties have been completed."

Chen Han also nodded solemnly.

Huaxia has always been a country that focuses on recording history, with systematic and rich historical materials.

According to legend, there were historians in the Yellow Emperor era who were responsible for recording history.

Among all civilizations in the world, only China has basically recorded a history of 5000 years.

However, historical records alone are sometimes not enough to prove that these historical records are true.

Western scholars, according to their standards, have always believed that China has only a history of civilization of more than 3300 years.

Even if Chinese scholars do not agree with it, they have not been able to completely prove the error of this view.

Because Western historical records are very short.

It was around the Middle Ages that events began to be credibly recorded.

The historical records of the West before the Middle Ages are full of various myths and legends, which are simply unbelievable.

Therefore, the West pays special attention to using archaeological means to discover ancient history, rather than simply opening history books to understand ancient history like the Chinese.

As the "swan song of historians" in China, historical records are supreme among Chinese historians, but they are not worth mentioning in the eyes of many Western scholars.

Just because there are some quite "metaphysical" things recorded in the historical records.

For example, the ancestor of the Shang Dynasty was "three people took a bath, saw a black bird drop its eggs, and Jian Di took it and swallowed it, because of the birth contract."

The ancestor of the Zhou Dynasty was "the one who saw the traces of giants, and said with confidence that he wanted to practice them, and when he practiced them, his body moved like a pregnant woman."

One of the two was conceived and born after humans ate the eggs of the "mysterious bird", and the other was conceived and born after seeing the footprints of giants.

Such a record full of myths and legends reminds Western scholars of their own outrageous historical legends, and naturally denies "Historical Records" as a credible history.

However, "Historical Records" mixed some metaphysical colors for the emperor, which is not enough to completely overthrow its more than 50 words of historical records!

It's a pity that this kind of argument even affected Huaxia's own scholars in the era of the Republic of China when Western thinking became the mainstream.

Hu Shi, a great scholar in the period of the Republic of China, once put forward the conclusion that "there is no reliable history above the Eastern Zhou Dynasty".

Hu Shi believed that the Western Zhou Dynasty, Shang Dynasty, Xia Dynasty, and the era of the Five Emperors in history books were not reliable.

Even some well-known historical figures and events may be fabricated.

After Hu Shi, the ancient history debate school represented by Gu Jiegang put forward "layer after layer of theory", from doubting ancient classics, to doubting ancient figures, to doubting the entire system of ancient history.

At one time, the history of China was in jeopardy from before the Spring and Autumn Period, and it was not considered true.

It wasn't until the appearance of Yin Ruins and the appearance of oracle bone inscriptions that the Shang Dynasty was proved to really exist.

A large number of Dongxizhou sites unearthed in the follow-up slapped Western scholars in the face with facts.

However, even if the appearance of the Yin Ruins proves that in the Xia, Shang and Zhou recorded in the Historical Records, at least Shang and Zhou really existed, it still cannot make Western scholars agree with the view of China's 5000-year history.

To this day, many history books in Western countries still believe that China has only a history of 3300 years. Before the Shang Dynasty, China had no country and civilization had not yet been formed.

Moreover, this "Shang Dynasty" only recognized the history after Pan Geng moved to Yin recorded after the appearance of oracle bone inscriptions.

Pan Geng's move to Yin was already in the middle and late Shang Dynasty.

In other words, Western scholars only recognized half of the Shang Dynasty!
For nearly a century, China's 5000-year history has been questioned and not accepted by most Western countries.

As we all know, verification has always been more difficult than falsification. After all, verification requires all kinds of conclusive evidence that cannot be questioned, while falsification only needs to be questioned.

This also made the Huaxia people aggrieved.

Why do we need outsiders to question our own history, and there is no evidence to refute it!

After entering the new century, China has gradually become rich and powerful. For the sake of national honor and pride, and also for the traceability of Chinese civilization, two large-scale and long-term archaeological projects have been launched one after another.

【Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties archaeological project】

【Chinese Civilization Traceability Project】

The Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties archaeological project started in 2001, and it has been 17 years since then.

[Xiashang Anniversary Table] was jointly conquered by 170 scientists, and the exact date of the Xiashang and Zhou Dynasties was determined.

The first year of the Xia Dynasty was determined to be 2070 BC, the first year of the Shang Dynasty was 1600 BC, the year Pan Geng moved to Yin was 1300 BC, and the first year of the Zhou Dynasty was 1046 BC.

However, the ruins and historical relics before Pan Geng moved to Yin are basically blank.

Except for Yin Ruins, which was dug up in the 20s, which is enough evidence to prove that the Shang Dynasty once existed.

In the past 17 years, Chinese archaeologists have not yet found any evidence of the existence of the Xia Dynasty.

This is something that every Chinese archaeologist regrets.

Recorded in the history books Tang Yao, Yu and Shun, Dayu ruled the water, Xia Qi established the country, Taikang lost the country, Shaokang Zhongxing, Kong Jia rebelled, violent Jie subjugated the country, Wang Hai tamed cattle, Yun Wang Qinshang, Yi Yin released Taijia, No archaeological evidence has been unearthed for the stories of the Xia and Shang Dynasties such as the Rebellion of the Ninth World.

Whether it is the students of the archeology department who are still studying in school, or the professional archaeologists who have devoted themselves to the archeology industry for many years, there is no one who does not want these Chinese history passed down through the generations to become irrefutable evidence!

Any archaeologist hopes that he can straighten his back and use the evidence buried deep underground for thousands of years to proudly announce to the world that China has a history of 5000 years!

In history, there are indeed several holy kings such as Yao, Shun and Yutang who ignited the light of Chinese civilization and led the ancient ancestors out of ignorance, established a country, and spread civilization!

After every archaeologist joins the field of archaeology and enters the field of archaeology, he hopes that he can find evidence of the existence of the Xia Dynasty!

And now the [Lajia Ruins] was suddenly discovered.

According to the carbon-2000 detection made by the early exploration team, the formation of the Lajia site was around [-] BC, which is exactly the period inferred by historians when the Xia Dynasty was born!
There is a high probability that this site is a city-state site in the same era as the Xia Dynasty!

Qinghai is located in the upper reaches of the Yellow River. Although it is a little far away from the Central Plains, a site in the same era as the Xia Dynasty may have some precious unearthed objects related to the Xia Dynasty!

Although, the hope is very slim, but archaeology is to find a needle in a haystack, and it is a matter of continuous efforts for the small probability of one in ten thousand!

"I hope we can find some heavyweight archaeological discoveries this time." Chen Han slightly raised his head and leaned on the high-speed rail seat, excitement mixed with anticipation.

"Ding dong..."

A sudden voice appeared in his mind again.

"New mission released!"

"Assist in participating in the archaeological excavation of the Lajia site!"

"Task rewards are assessed and issued according to the host's participation and contribution!"

The corner of Chen Han's mouth curled up slightly, and his mood improved.

Another reason to dig hard!
(People with discerning eyes should be able to see that this is a parallel world, a world where Erlitou first-class Xia Dynasty ruins have not been discovered, a parallel world where the development of archaeology is a little bit different from reality.)
Smart readers have already seen the main thread of this book.

In Chen Han's world, the development of archaeology is obviously a little bit different from the real world.

Many historical relics that have been identified or unearthed in this world are still dusty under the surface, waiting for the day when they will be seen again.

How did Chen Han grow from an unknown little archaeologist to a legendary archaeologist in China and even the world, to expose the Chinese culture buried in the dust, and to find the glory that our ancestors once left us?

Tang Yao, Yu Shun, Dayu ruled the floods, Xia Qi established the country, Taikang lost the country, Shaokang rejuvenated, Kong Jia rebelled, and the violent Jie subjugated the country.Could all this be fabricated by later generations?
Before the Western Zhou Dynasty in my country, there was no letter history?
  Do not!
We are very young, about 5000 years!
In these 5000 years, no year should be missing!
