Chapter 368 Sala
Xu Shang also recognized the well-mannered lady in front of him, she was that playful and cute little girl back then, the smile on her face was somewhat sincere, "Amitabha, it turns out to be my little friend, the poor monk is always good, Lao Xiao Friends for inquiries."

"Amitabha, I've bothered Master today, so please don't blame Changning." Jiang Changning said apologetically.

Buddhism is quiet, she shouldn't come here with a crowd, but she wants to see the sala tree her father took her to plant.

The Sala tree is known as the sacred tree of Buddhism. According to legend, Sakyamuni passed away between the two Sala trees.

"Little friend came to see the tree." Xu Shang addressed him as little friend, expressing that he didn't blame her for disturbing the peace of the Buddhist sect.

"The little saplings back then should be as graceful as a canopy now, right?" Jiang Changning looked over Xu Shang and looked behind him, as if he could see the Sala tree.

Smiling, "My little friend please."

"Master, please." Jiang Changning smiled slightly.

The first hall of Lingyin Temple is the Hall of Heavenly Kings, which enshrines a statue of Maitreya Buddha.

In front of the smiling Amitabha Buddha, bare chested and belly exposed, sitting on a futon, sandalwood was burning, wisps of green smoke entangled in the air, adding a bit of Zen to this compassionate Buddha.

"Little friend, burn incense to the Buddha." Xu Shang personally twisted three sticks of sandalwood and handed them to Jiang Changning.

Jiang Changning took the incense, lit it, and inserted it into the incense burner, "The Buddha is merciful, believers beg the Buddha to protect the country and the people of the Great Qin."

"Little friend, great kindness." Xu Shang smiled and praised.

Jiang Changning smiled, and turned to the back of the Amitabha Buddha, where a statue of the Buddhist Dharma protector Wei Tuo carved from camphor wood was enshrined.

"Master, last time I saw Wei Tuo holding the pestle with both hands in a temple, why is Wei Tuo holding the pestle here?" Jiang Changning hadn't noticed this detail before.

"Amitabha, Bodhisattva Wei Tuo has two postures for holding the subduing magic pestle in his hands. One is to put his hands together and hold the pestle horizontally on his wrist, and the other is to hold the pestle on the ground with one hand."

"Is there any particularity to these two holding methods?" Jiang Changning asked curiously.

"The method of holding the pestle is different, and the meaning is also different. Holding the pestle with both hands means that the temple is a reception temple, and monks can place orders. Wei Tuo holds the pestle, which means that the temple is not a reception temple."

Jiang Changning clasped his hands together and said, "Thank you Master for clarifying my doubts."

"Amitabha, you are so good." Xu Shang returned the salute with a smile.

On both sides of the Hall of Heavenly Kings are the Four King Kongs. They are not only the patron saints of Buddhism, but also bear the good wishes of the people for good weather.

Jiang Changning offered incense to them one by one, and walked out from the Hall of Heavenly Kings.

She saw two sutra pagodas in front of the Daxiong Hall, with eight sides and nine floors, and Bodhisattva statues and Buddhist scriptures were carved on both sides of the pot gate.

Jiang Changning glanced at it briefly, then walked straight into the Daxiong Palace.

Daxiong Hall, formerly known as Juehuang Hall, is a single-story, triple-layered, majestic hall.

Sakyamuni, the Buddha, is enshrined in the middle of the hall. The Buddha statue sits on the lotus platform, heart-to-heart, kind and amiable. There is a treasure cover hanging above it, and colorful flowers hang down. The treasure is solemn and vivid.

Standing on the two sides of the hall are the twenty heavens, the guardian gods of Buddhism. They are the gods in charge of the sun, moon, stars, earth, water, electricity, fire, rain, wind, thunder, etc.

Jiang Changning saw Monk Jigong holding a broken fan to cover his face, "This is the heart of the Buddha who has passed through the intestines of wine and meat. If people in the world follow me, they will be like Master Jidian who has entered the way of demons!"

"Amitabha, that's right." Xu Shang smiled.

"I remember that when I came back last time, there was no such statue."

"It was donated by the Li clan ten years ago." Xu Shang replied.

Jiang Changning smiled knowingly. Monk Jigong's common name is Li Xiuyuan, and he is from the Li family.

It is reasonable for the Li family to make a statue of him, a famous monk who punishes evil and promotes good, so that he can enjoy the incense in the world.

The third hall of Lingyin Temple is the Hall of Pharmacists.

The "Three Saints of the East" are enshrined in the hall: Medicine Buddha, Emperor Sunlight and Emperor Moonlight.

Sitting cross-legged on the lotus pedestal is Medicine Buddha, who is the leader of the Eastern Pure Glass World, known as the "Great Physician King Buddha".

It is said that he can make all living beings free from suffering and gain happiness, and relieve pain and disasters.

On the left stands the Sunshine Bodhisattva, holding the sun in his hand, which symbolizes light.

On the right stands the Moonlight Bodhisattva, holding the moon in his hand, symbolizing coolness.

The Sala tree in the courtyard behind the Medicine Buddha Hall was planted by Father Jiang with Jiang Changning when Jiang Changning was seven years old.

At that time, it was just a small sapling, but now it has grown into a big tree.

The Sala tree has a round crown, luxuriant branches and leaves, and the trees are full of flowers. It is magnificent and amazing.

Jiang Changning caressed the tree trunk and whispered: "The leaves are lush and beautiful like a wheel, the fruit is as big as a bottle, and its sweetness is like honey, with the color and fragrance."

Among the palm-shaped green leaves, there are strings of inflorescences as strong as towers and white flowers as white as snowflakes.

"Little friend, do you still remember what your father said when he planted this tree?" Xu Shang asked.

"Father said back then, this Sala tree, you can see the seven leaves in spring, appreciate the flower tower in summer, pick up the fruits in autumn, and taste the fallen leaves in winter. It is beautiful all year round. From budding to withering, it tells the story of reincarnation and impermanence, and carries awe." Jiang Changning is not a real seven-year-old boy, so he still remembers what Jiang's father said.

"I am old and have no intention of going to the store, so I stretch out my body and sleep under the Sala tree."

"This is the poem that the master sang at that time. It's a pity that my father died in the ground before the Sala tree grew up." Jiang Changning said with a sad expression.

"Amitabha, Donor Jiang is a kind and generous person. My Buddha will definitely lead him to the Land of Ultimate Bliss. In the future, we will meet each other again."

Jiang Changning smiled and didn't answer his words.

The Western Paradise is too illusory.

She came from modern times, did not walk the legendary Naihe bridge, nor drank Mengpo soup, and brought the memories of her previous life to this dynasty that did not exist in history books.

At the beginning, she also had ambitions to change this dynasty, but later she found that it was too difficult, and what she could do was very limited, the most she could do was to use money for charity.

Fortunately, she is not short of money.

"Little friend, pour a spoonful of water for the Sala tree." Xu Shang looked at the little novice monk who came over with a bucket.

"Okay." Jiang Changning picked up a long-handled wooden spoon, scooped up a spoonful of water, and slowly poured it under the tree.

After looking at the Sala tree, Jiang Changning politely asked Master Xushang to give a lecture for everyone.

Xu Shang did not refuse, preaching Buddhist scriptures and saving sentient beings is what he, an eminent monk, should do.

"Buddha said: All sentient beings have the wisdom and virtue of the Tathagata, but because of delusion and persistence, they can't prove it. If you want to get a human body in the next life, you must observe the five precepts."

Xushang did not talk about those obscure and difficult Buddhas. He used simple words to guide everyone to believe in Buddha, chant Buddha, and go to Buddha.

After listening to the lecture, Jiang Changning was invited to the Zhaitang again.

Jiang Changning had also thought about the Vegetarian Restaurant in Lingyin Temple for a long time, so he happily went there.
