Chapter 159 Lecture Platform: Debate of Buddhism and Taoism

Chapter 159 Lecture Platform: Debate of Buddhism and Taoism
……

Two days later, Jixia Academy.

After getting permission from Emperor Ping Le and the Empress Dowager, the Buddhist sect set up a lectern platform in front of Luojian Lake.

This is a round tower building. I don't know what kind of means Samantabhadra Bodhisattva used, but it was built in just two days.

Around the lectern, there are futons.

The students of Jixia Academy and the children of the royal family rushed over early, sitting on the futons one by one, waiting for the start of this grand event.

As time drew near, representatives of various schools of thought also began to appear in front of the lectern one by one.

The first person to arrive was Han Shen, the representative of the Legalists.

The Prime Minister of the current court has shown extreme forbearance today, and he has no right to lean on the court and the opposition at all.

He just sat in the front row of futons with a smile on his face, and kept nodding to the students and relatives around him.

And behind him, there are a few legalist students sitting.

Afterwards, the representative of the Yin Yang family, Meng Xingchen, the current national teacher, came.

Today's Meng Xingchen is wearing a set of special clothes showing the Yin Yang family, followed by a young man wearing a green hat, it is Gargamel.

Meng Xingchen also kept a low profile, smiling and sitting on the futon.

Then, all the schools of thought appeared on the stage.

A total of seven people from the Taoist sect came today, including six of the seven sons of the Taoist sect, and Jiang Chenshui, the youngest genius of the Taoist sect.

Of course, there was also the invited one——Jiang Chaoge.

Jiang Chaoge didn't represent any family, he just came to watch the excitement, and because of his relationship with Wu Lingzi, he naturally sat next to the Daomen.

And then, he saw the princess win Luo Yu.

Luo Yu didn't seem to be here today to represent the royal family, but to represent miscellaneous families.

Because, in front of her was not Emperor Ping Le and the Empress Dowager, but an old man in a white robe, with a gray beard and a rather ruddy complexion.

"It seems that this is Luo Yu's teacher?"

Jiang Chaoge had heard some rumors.

In the imperial palace of Daqin, there is a top master of miscellaneous families hidden, but this master will not show others easily, and he did not expect to arrive today.

Then, Jiang Chaoge saw several great Confucianists who represented Confucianism.

Fang Xiaojing walked in the middle.

There are six in total.

From this point of view, it can also be seen that among the hundreds of schools of thought, Taoism and Confucianism are indeed different from the other schools of thought, with many disciples.

However, Meng Liang, who represented the military strategist, was not present today.

Because he has already rushed to Nanshi City on the front line of the Southern Region, so the representative of the military family is Bai Xing, the patriarch of the Bai clan, and Bai Mei is following Bai Xing.

What surprised Jiang Chaoge was that Ji Ruxue also came.

Wearing a long black and white dress, with a beautiful face and unique demeanor, it naturally caught the attention of the students of Jixia Academy.

Finally, there are the Patriarch Mo Jian, the Deputy Patriarch Mo Ling and Mo Su, as well as the farmers, doctors...etc.

So far, hundreds of schools of thought have gathered in Jixia.

Jiang Yu'er also came to the lectern and sat in the camp of Jixia's students.

However, the master was not present today.

Jiang Chaoge knew that the current master was making tea on the top of the mountain of books.

……

A hundred schools of thought gather together.

The carriages of Emperor Ping Le and the Empress Dowager arrived by coincidence.

Hundreds of guards from the Royal Forest Army drove in front of the two luxurious cars, and there was an independent area to the east of the lectern, and no one would approach it.

And Emperor Ping Le and the Empress Dowager didn't get out of the car, they just hung the bead curtain in front of the car.

When these two people arrived, everyone knew that this 300-year event was about to officially start.

As for presiding over this event, it is naturally Samantabhadra Bodhisattva of Buddhism.

The Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, wearing a bright yellow cassock, sat upright at the top of the lectern, with two piercing eyes open, scanning the crowd below.

"Today, my Buddhist sect set up a lecture platform in Jixia. If everyone has any disagreements with my Buddhist scriptures, they can ask questions at any time."

After Puxian finished speaking, he pointed to the lectern with his right hand.

Everyone looked over, and immediately saw Buddhist classics on the lectern.

Puxian began to explain: "This time, my Buddhist sect came from the Western Regions and brought the essentials of my Buddhist sect. If you want to have a look, you can read it at any time."

"Amitabha!"

A Buddha's call was proclaimed.

Under the lecture platform, hundreds of ascetic monks sitting and standing all looked solemn.

Immediately, a young monk came out from the bottom floor of the lectern.

His face was extremely fair, and his face looked very kind, holding a string of Buddhist beads in his hand.

"The poor monk Kong Shan."

He made a Buddhist salute to everyone: "Teaching the Dharma in the Western Regions, wandering asceticly in the middle land for ten years, and coming to Jixia today, I want to use 'Zen Gong' to communicate with everyone, and I hope to enlighten you!"

This is a Zen practitioner.

There are two different routes to take with Kongxiang.

The empty phase belongs to Buddhist monks, and the four realms are King Kong.

And this meditation is for the three realms, and the realm is an ascetic.

……

Seeing that the Buddhist gate has come out.

Everyone's eyes naturally fell on the Taoist gate.

After all, the Daoist sect had already stated two days ago that they would be the first to appear on stage to debate Buddhism.

So, Jiang Chenshui stood up from the futon, walked in front of Kong Shan quickly, and bowed to Kong Shan with Taoist etiquette.

"Taoist disciple Jiang Chenshui, pay homage to the monk Kongshan." Jiang Chenshui said without humility or humiliation: "Since it is a Buddhist lecture, I will ask for instructions on the rules."

"Good." Kong Shan nodded: "The poor monk has been practicing asceticism in the middle land for ten years. What he saw and heard is the suffering of people's livelihood. Today Kong Shan wants to argue with Daoist Jiang about the way to relieve this 'suffering'. Can you?"

Want to explain the way of liberation from suffering? !

Such a topic is actually not common in the debates of various schools of thought.

The students of Jixia and the disciples of the clan are naturally a little curious. After all, in a sense, this question is more or less 'derogatory'.

Because only unfair governance will cause people's livelihood suffering.

Of course, this is not a problem for Jiang Chenshui. He belongs to the Taoist sect, and the Taoist sect has left Jixia 300 years ago, so there is nothing indisputable.

Therefore, Jiang Chenshui nodded quickly: "Yes."

Seeing Jiang Chenshui nodding, Kong Shan smiled and started to write the question: "Five years ago, I passed by a village, and there was an old man in this village, this old man was pure in character, and he had a yellow ox at home.

Because he only knows how to farm diligently every day, although the old man's life is hard, he can still make ends meet. But one day, the old man bumped into a son of an official family in the market, and was accidentally bumped into by the son of the official family. He fell and was bedridden after returning home.

Seeing this, the scalper miraculously gave birth to wisdom, avenged the old man one night, ate the official boy in one bite, robbed the official boy's money, and cured the old man.

But after all, this matter could not be hidden from the government. As a result, the government came to arrest the man, and in the end, put the old man in a cell, and beheaded the murderous scalper. "

When Kong Shan said this, he clasped his hands together and said, "May I ask Daoist Jiang, do you think this is the old man's suffering, or the scalper's suffering, or that official's son?"

Jiang Chenshui frowned when he heard this.

The other Jixia students also talked about it.

Because this matter is simply impossible to judge.

From the old man's point of view, it was hard for him to be injured by the official's children and put in a cell.

From the scalper's point of view, it avenged its master, and then was beheaded... So loyal, it can be regarded as suffering.

In the end, from the perspective of the official's son, he just accidentally injured the old man, but was eaten by the scalper... The punishment was too heavy, and it was considered bitter.

"I think the old man is the worst!"

"The scalper is the most suffering, right? Such a wise and repaying scalper is rare."

"It's just a grassroots person. Kongshan also said just now that the son of the official family just accidentally hurt the old man, and he didn't mean it. Why should he pay for his life?"

Everyone expresses their opinions.

Kong Shan listened to the discussions around him, but looked at Jiang Chenshui calmly: "Daoist Jiang, how do you answer?"

Jiang Chenshui hesitated for a while, and finally gritted his teeth and replied: "In the story of Zen Master Kongshan, the old man, the scalper, and the sons of the official family all have their own sufferings, but Pindao thinks that since this suffering has all three, naturally there is no suffering. There is a difference between seriousness and severity, so Pindao thinks that all three are suffering!"

"Hehe, I didn't expect Jiang Daochang to have some Buddhist ties, because what Jiang Daochang said is exactly the meaning of my Buddhist scriptures-all living beings are suffering!"

Hearing this, Kongshan also had a bright smile on his face: "In terms of my Buddhism, all living beings in the world are born in suffering, and the purpose of my Buddhism in the Western Regions is to save all living beings from suffering. Buddha, one day, you can be reborn in bliss!"

Hey!
Jiang Chaoge slurped violently, not knowing whether to vomit or not.

This Kong Shan is actually playing tricks!
On the surface it tells a story, but in fact it set Jiang Chenshui a huge trap.

Because, in this story, it is impossible for Jiang Chenshui to give an 'accurate' answer. Whether it is saying that the old man is more miserable, or that the scalper is more miserable, or that the official's children are more miserable, it is impossible to satisfy everyone.

Therefore, only by saying that all three are suffering can we get other affirmations.

But this is tantamount to a direct recognition of the Buddhist concept of 'all beings are suffering'.

"Sure enough, this is a world where old cunts are running around, even Buddhist debates are not lacking in such old cunning methods... Fucking cunts when they come up!"

Jiang Chaoge looked at Jiang Chenshui.

At this time, Jiang Chenshui's face was extremely gloomy, and he clenched his fists tightly. Obviously, he was a little angry now, but he had nowhere to vent.

When the Jixia students sitting around and the clan disciples heard this, they all knew that Jiang Chenshui had already lost in the first question.

"This Kongshan has kindness in his name, but his heart is not kind at all." Huo Lingzi had a violent temper, and he couldn't help but cursed.

Feng Lingzi could only wave his hands: "Since it is a debate on Buddhism and Taoism, it is natural to talk about winning or losing. If you have the means to use it, you are incompetent."

"But, such a method is too shameless?" Huo Lingzi was still a little upset.

"Look again." Feng Lingzi sighed.

The representatives of the other schools of thought also came to some realization at this time.

Although it seems that the Taoist family has been slandered, in fact, through this first question, everyone has already seen that Buddhism attaches great importance to this debate.

This is obviously intentional!
Luo Yu looked at the old man next to him at this moment: "Teacher, if you come to answer this question, how will you answer it?"

"A villain, do you want the teacher to fall into a trap?" The old man gave Luo Yu a cold look: "You think I am that Jiang Chenshui, and I will be fooled like this?"

"Hahaha, the teacher must be smart. Is he just using a metaphor? This is just the first question. Buddhism has made sufficient preparations for coming to the Western Regions. Do you think the second question will be easy?"

"..." The old man fell silent.

Because, as Luo Yu said, the Buddhist sect is obviously well prepared this time, if the Taoist sect really loses, how can other miscellaneous sects respond?

The most important thing is that now the Buddhist sect only sends a three-level meditation...

The real big men are still sitting on the pulpit!
……

Jiang Chenshui was tricked.

It is impossible to convince yourself in your heart.

But Kongshan saw that Jiang Chenshui didn't answer, so he knew that he had won the question.

Instead of continuing to taunt or preach Buddhism, he saluted Jiang Chenshui again and said, "Since Daoist Jiang has a heart for Buddha, the poor monk came to ask this second question. I wonder if Daoist Jiang is ready?"

"Wait." Jiang Chenshui stretched out his hand to stop it.

"Oh? Daoist Jiang, what do you have to say?" Kong Shan looked at Jiang Chenshui with some surprise.

"Since it's a method of debate, it's a matter of asking questions and answering them. You've already asked a question, so naturally it's up to me to ask." Jiang Chenshui said coldly.

"Understood." Kong Shan nodded: "Then ask Daoist Jiang to ask questions."

Jiang Chenshui bit her lip lightly.

His gaze swept to the six of the seven disciples of the Xuanmen sitting on the futon, and finally, his gaze fell on Wu Lingzi's face.

Seeing Wu Lingzi nodding towards him, Jiang Chenshui finally felt relieved.

Then he began to think.

How to use the way of the person to treat the depth of the person.

He also wanted to use a story to trick Kong Shan, so as to get back the face that Daomen had left behind, but just when he was about to speak, a voice suddenly rang in his ears.

"A calm mind is beneficial, and a dry mind is blunt. Taoism emphasizes governance through inaction, and everything goes with the flow, rather than being affected by external things."

who is it? !
Who is talking to me?
Jiang Chenshui's eyes suddenly widened.

"It's your uncle, Jiang Chaoge!"

"..."

The voice was heard again.

Jiang Chenshui's face turned red suddenly, and then he instinctively looked at Jiang Chaoge who was sitting next to Wu Lingzi with a smile on his face.

And Jiang Chaoge nodded slightly towards him unceremoniously, and at the same time, said in colloquial words: "What are you looking at? I'm helping you, otherwise you will lose!"
