Chapter 169 Goodbye Roland
Chapter 169 Goodbye Roland
The next day, Jimmy got up early in the morning to wash and tidy up, then checked out and drove to Roland's lakeside cabin.
Although I haven't been here for almost a year, the lake house has not changed much. There is a pickup truck parked outside the house. It looks very old, but it is normal. There is no garage here. This pickup truck must be parked directly. Outside, it was windy and sunny.
Jimmy parked the car next to the pickup truck and observed the cabin with his mind, but there was no one in the room.
Jimmy didn't get out of the car, but sat in the car and waited. The pickup was still here. Maybe Roland just left for a while. If he couldn't wait for Roland later, he would consider whether to open the door and wait.
Half an hour later, Jimmy saw Roland coming out of the shooting range in the woods where he had taught him how to reload the revolver, but Roland was definitely not there for gun practice, because he was holding a deer on his shoulder.
The deer had a pair of large horns on its head, but Jimmy didn't know animals enough to tell how big the deer was.
Jimmy got out of the car and stood by the car. Roland had seen Jimmy's car a long time ago, and when he saw Jimmy getting off the car, he didn't speak to Jimmy, but walked directly to the small pier next to the wooden house.
Jimmy didn't walk towards Roland either, he followed Roland's position and adjusted his stance to make sure he was facing Roland.
Roland came to the pier and put the deer on a stone platform, which seemed to be his slaughterhouse, and Jimmy could see the ax beside the stone platform.
Roland didn't deal with the deer, but squatted down and washed his hands with lake water, and then returned to the front of the house. He nodded to Jimmy, opened the door and walked in.
Seeing Roland nodding, Jimmy began to walk towards the house. He followed Roland into the cabin, and Roland went into the next room to change clothes. Jimmy stood in the living room without moving or sitting down, just waiting.
A few minutes later, Roland came out of the bedroom. He changed into casual clothes for the leather jacket and boots he wore during the hunting.
Roland: "Jimmy, why are you back again? Sit down."
Jimmy took out the envelope from his pocket and said to Roland: "When you left before, you said you wouldn't let me come back, and that's what I planned too. But then I received a letter, mailed from Texas, and I'm in There is no one I know here, so I think it should be mailed by you. After thinking about it for a long time, I still want to confirm with you."
Jimmy handed the envelope to Roland.
Roland took out two paintings from the envelope, glanced at them, and placed them on the coffee table in front of the sofa.
Roland: "Yes, it was mailed from me, but it wasn't me. Chambers came back before, and these two paintings belong to him."
Jimmy: "Chambers? He's back? And now?"
Roland: "Already left, he just came to give these two paintings."
Jimmy: "Who are the people in these two paintings? Did Chambers say anything?"
Roland: "Chambers didn't know him, so he showed me the painting and asked me to confirm it."
Jimmy: "So are you sure? Who is this guy?"
Roland was silent for a while, looking at Jimmy: "You, these two paintings are about you. What Chambers saw was a Chinese, and the only Chinese he and I know is you."
This time it was Jimmy's turn to be silent. He had seen these two paintings many times before, and the people in them didn't look like him at all. Whether it was weapons, clothes, or hair, they were all very different from him.
After a while, Jimmy asked Roland: "What scene did Chambers foresee? Can you explain in detail?"
Roland: "Chambers didn't see too many pictures. The reason why he came to me was because, in the pictures he saw, the gun you were holding was mine."
Jimmy: "So, this should be a picture of the future, in the future I will get your gun and die in an incident, right?"
Roland: "Yes."
Jimmy: "Any time? Approximate time? Any other information?"
Roland: "No, Chambers said it was a fog, and no one in front of you saw it."
Jimmy: "Okay, I see. Where is Chambers? I think I'll see him later."
Roland: "No, Jimmy, if Chambers wanted to see you, he would have looked for you the last time he came, but he didn't. So, if he needs to, he will contact you, don't take the initiative to find him."
Jimmy was disappointed, but he quickly adjusted his mentality. This time he came here to confirm the situation of the painting, and it was a windfall to know that he was the one.
As for when he got Roland's gun, he didn't intend to ask. When he was hunting just now, Roland still brought his two guns. Obviously, these two guns are his most reliable partners. Jimmy believes that he asked this question. If he did, he would definitely be pointed at the head with a gun.
Anyway, the goal has been achieved, and Jimmy doesn't expect too much. Knowing that the person in the painting is himself, he just writes it down, and doesn't worry too much. When no one is dead, especially when he is facing all kinds of problems now. The gun suspect was also shot a few days ago.
Jimmy reached for the envelope and two paintings on the table, put the paintings in the envelope, and put them back in his pocket.
Jimmy: "Things are cleared up, Roland, thank you."
Roland: "Are you leaving? Stay and have lunch, as the deer I hunted are big enough."
Jimmy looked at Roland and nodded: "Thank you then."
Seeing Jimmy nodding, Roland got up, took two knives from the kitchen and went out. Jimmy followed him to the stone platform of the small pier to watch Roland handle the deer.
Roland's movements are very skillful, and it can be seen that he has done it many times.
There are axes and bone chopping knives here on the stone platform. It didn’t take long for Roland to decompose a deer. Roland took some meat into the house and put it in the refrigerator. Scratching my head, shouldn't this kind of scrap corner be buried?Or is there any carnivorous fish in this lake?
Roland moved a grill out of the house, it seems that today is a barbecue.Jimmy could only watch from the side as Roland prepared to come in and out.
When Roland finished preparing the materials and started to burn charcoal, Jimmy realized that it was a huge piece of meat. Roland just cut the venison into large pieces and marinated like a steak, instead of cutting into small pieces, which looked very rough.
Fortunately, there are still some vegetables. It seems that Roland does not live here completely away from human habitation. These vegetables cannot be grown by himself. Besides, Jimmy did not see any vegetable gardens around.
Jimmy watched Roland busy all the time without interfering. From Roland's attitude, it can be seen that although Roland said last time that he would not be allowed to come back because he is not Jimmy, he still misses Jimmy very much.
