Fahai travels through Tang Sanzang

Chapter 431 Monks don't tell lies;

Chapter 431 Monks don't tell lies;
"Gai heard that the two instruments have images, which are manifested and covered to contain life; the four seasons are invisible, lurking in cold and heat to transform things. It is to see the sky and learn the earth, and the mediocre and foolish will know its end; the yin and the yang are clear, and the sages are rare. Flowers and trees are ignorant, and they are good enough to be good. It seems that human relations are knowledgeable, and they would rather not be celebrated by celebrating? Fang hopes that the scriptures will be spread, and the sun and the moon will be endless; "

A sacred preface was sent to Hongfu Temple.

This is "The Preface to the Holy Religion of the Great Tang Sanzang" written by the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty for Master Sanzang's successful return from studying Buddhist scriptures. The calligraphy master Chu Suiliang wrote the pen. Once it was sent to Hongfu Temple, the abbot of the temple called Huairen, the first recluse in the temple. , Let him personally carve the inscription.

Master Sanzang expressed his support for this.

He also specially sent the Great Sage to find a good stele. After it was formed, it was nine feet four inches high and four feet two inches wide.

It's just that Huairen watched Chu Suiliang's handwriting for a long time, but he never started construction.

Later, someone asked why, and he said that although Chu Xianggong's calligraphy is exquisite, but
but what?
But the little monk hopes to be able to engrave with the characters of the book sage Wang Youjun.

After hearing this, the emperor gathered all the writings of Wang Xizhi in the palace and sent them to him for him to study carefully. He also sent a team of people to collect the left ink among the people.

However, this method has limitations after all. Just in case, Huairen has prepared a record. If the collection of characters fails, he will still use Chu Suiliang's characters to carve the inscription.

Of course, he didn't dare to say that.

Li Shimin was unable to leave the palace that day, so he sent his third son Li Ke, king of Wu, and his fourth son Li Tai, king of Wei, to invite Master Sanzang to Ci'en Temple.

It is also interesting to say that these two were also candidates for the prince in Li Shimin's mind.

Wu Wang Li Ke, because his mother and concubine are the daughters of Emperor Yang of Sui Dynasty, they are the princes of the concubines. With several brothers from the concubine still alive, it is not so difficult to win the crown prince;
And Wei Wang Li Tai. It was he and the former crown prince Li Chengqian who fought for the heir apparent back then, and the two sides were in conflict, almost to the point of endless death, that made Li Shimin ruthless and ruled out both of them.

In the end, the position of prince fell on the head of Li Zhi, the king of Jin who had always "neither fought nor robbed".

Li Ke was not dissatisfied with this result, after all, this position was not something he could easily covet. And Li Zhi's two direct brothers didn't have much to say about it. Firstly, although the two of them fought to the death, their relationship with Li Zhi was relatively gentle and close. In addition, the Tang Dynasty had the final say. Ben was alone, too.

The matter has become a foregone conclusion, even if he is unwilling, he dare not act rashly.

And it was their uncle Changsun Wuji who publicly expressed his support for Li Zhi that made Li Shimin really make up his mind.

Li Shimin and Changsun Wuji have reached a consensus, so there will be almost no voices of opposition in the court. As for the generals, the rebels have already died, and the rest will naturally protect themselves. It doesn't matter who is the emperor. .Anyway, the vast majority of generals' skills are on the battlefield, and they don't understand the affairs of the court.

And those who can play and understand will naturally not stand out on their own.

Empress Changsun once said to Li Shimin: "The pheasant slave is benevolent and cowardly. In the future, he may act benevolently and do good governance. But he is a little younger after all, I am afraid that his wings will not be full."

Li Shimin naturally knew what Empress Changsun meant, and he was just worried that after a hundred years, Li Zhi would be coerced by powerful ministers like Changsun Wuji,
But it doesn't matter, as a father, I will naturally teach him how to be a qualified emperor.

It is said that the Tian family is ruthless, but it is not necessarily so.

At least at this moment, when the two princes saw their elder brother's appearance as a bald monk, they lost their composure.

Li Ke restrained himself a bit, turned his head to keep his eyes away from his elder brother as much as possible, but he could tell from his clenched fists and the twitching corners of his mouth. The saddest thing I've ever experienced.

On the other hand, Li Tai, who had been tearing up his face with his elder brother for a long time, had no scruples. Now he pointed at his elder brother who was cleaning fallen leaves in the yard with a broom, and laughed loudly——

It's funny, but he can't laugh when he smiles.

I don't know why, but at this moment, there is no joy in my heart, but some sadness.

Perhaps influenced by Li Tai's emotions, Li Ke also looked at his elder brother with a little worry, and asked with concern: "Why does elder brother look like this?"

On the contrary, Li Chengqian was very calm. Facing the two younger brothers who came suddenly, except for his inflexible legs and feet, he never showed any disrespect. After hearing the third brother Li Ke's inquiry, he stopped his work for a while and laughed. Then he replied: "As you can see, now the little monk has worshiped under Master Sanzang, and has escaped into the Buddhist gate, ignoring the worldly affairs, and all the mortal world is disturbed, and it is difficult to confuse my heart Amitabha."

After listening to Li Ke's sudden respect, he didn't doubt his elder brother's words. Li Tai was different. The two brothers knew the truth, and no one could hide it from the other. He questioned directly: "Really? I don't believe it."

"Monks don't tell lies." Li Chengqian looked devout, as if he really saw through the world of mortals.

The Great Sage who came back a few days earlier heard this, and said, "Your Highness seems... not a monk."

Li Chengqian laughed and said, "Oh? Isn't that just right?"

Li Ke and Li Tai were stunned for a moment, reacted a little, and then realized that the eldest brother's words can be lied to if he is not a monk, right?
Were you entertaining the two of us just now?

"My teacher is translating the scriptures. I don't know why the two Highnesses are here?" His Majesty's appearance is different from what he sees.

Using Master's previous evaluation: Suffering may knock people down, but if it is the other way around, if people overcome suffering, they will eventually achieve something.
His Majesty is currently in a critical period of fighting against "suffering". Although the success or failure is still uncertain, his city has now improved significantly in the struggle.

But those two sentences just now are quite a bit of a monk's cunning.

Li Ke and Li Tai also thought of their business, and said to the Great Sage: "Great Sage, Father asked my two brothers to ask Master Sanzang to move to the Temple of Mercy and choose a day to be enthroned."

"His Highnesses wait a moment, my old grandson is going to report first."

After the great sage entered the meditation room.

Li Taicai moved closer to Li Chengqian, and asked curiously: "Brother has always been grounded in the palace, is it the emperor's will to let you become a monk?"

"Yes." Li Chengqian nodded, and added another sentence: "Father personally sent me here this morning, and Father personally shaved off the troubles. It was just after noon, and you two came here. Tsk , Father, this is killing chickens and monkeys."

"Then why did the Great Sage say that elder brother is not a monk yet?" Li Ke was quite concerned about this point.

"Because." Li Chengqian began to play freely, "Because Master Sanzang said that my six roots are not clean, even if I shave my hair, I still can't become a monk."

"Ah, here." After thinking for a while, Li Tai knew that his elder brother was talking nonsense, so he said along the way: "If you can't become a monk, you can also become a Taoist priest. Why should elder brother only focus on this road in front of him?"

Not to mention, after Li Chengqian heard this, he really thought about it in his heart, it's not impossible.

What's more, when my grandfather Gaozu proclaimed himself emperor, he also recognized Lao Tzu Li Er as his ancestor, and even made Taoism the state religion. After his hair grew out, he went to ask Tai Shiling for advice.

What does it mean to be an emperor?
Let Lao Jiu enjoy the supreme wealth and honor in the world. Brother, I am going to cultivate immortality.

In fact, Li Chengqian's previous statement that he wanted to worship Master Sanzang was not nonsense, but his words were slightly different.

Shortly after his father left, Li Chengqian was about to sneak away, but before he left the temple, he was snatched back by the Great Sage.

Then he said that he did not run because his legs were inconvenient, and then he proposed to practice with Master Sanzang, hoping that one day his leg disease would return to normal. Master Sanzang did not refuse, but he did not immediately agree.

I just said that I have to wait until these eight days pass before making a decision.

This is also one of the reasons why Li Chengqian can honestly sweep the yard with a broom. He is by no means a law-abiding master, at least not the superficial obedience shown in front of Master Sanzang.

Knowing that Master Sanzang was going to take over the Ci'en Temple, the monks of Hongfu Temple were reluctant to part with them, and they sent Master Sanzang to the Ci'en Temple together, so they reluctantly said goodbye.

However, the Ci'en Temple will be opened in the future, and if they want to come, naturally there will be no so many restrictions.

The disciples of Master Sanzang before learning the scriptures had already been ordered by His Majesty to transfer them to the Ci’en Temple to practice together, so they stayed here directly. When these monks heard the news at the time, they bowed in the direction of the palace for a long time.

What is gratitude?
Of course, Fa Hai was also happy to be prejudiced against this, and it was better than being alone as an abbot. Although he didn't think that the newly recruited monks in the monastery would be obedient to him, but it was always easier to have acquaintances available.

Fa Hai translated scriptures very quickly.

In the past few days, Li Chengqian was also very honest.

And for some unknown reason, Li Ke and Li Tai came to Ci'en Temple again after returning to the palace to do chores with the emperor's uncle. Li Chengqian relied on himself to come first, so he arranged for the two of them to clean the courtyard, while he stayed in the temple. Master Sanzang is around, listening to teachings all the time.

I have to say that Master Sanzang is really extraordinary, and often a few simple words contain profound truths that are thought-provoking. There is no need to teach them specifically, and Li Chengqian feels that he has gained a lot, which is better than those teachers in the East Palace. too much.

Moreover, Master Sanzang is proficient in the three religions of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. Even though he was born in Buddhism, he relentlessly attacked some dross in Buddhism.

And Li Chengqian also understood a very important thing from the process of Master Sanzang's interpretation of the scriptures, that is, the right to interpret the scriptures, which plays a decisive role in the direction of the content of these scriptures.

In many cases, it is clearly a sentence, but for various reasons, it can give a variety of different annotations.

This is true of Buddhist scriptures, Taoist scriptures, and Confucian classics.

So what is the right way and what is the wrong way?

As an interpreter, how can you be sure that you are right?

In this regard, Fa Hai gave Li Chengqian a suggestion: "If His Royal Highness can also travel the journey of thousands of miles like a poor monk, and then combine it with the scriptures in the ten thousand volumes of books, you will have some insights."

Although Li Chengqian was frivolous on the surface, he had deep thoughts. It seemed that there was some big conspiracy, but in Fa Hai's view, it was not a big problem.

Even if he rebels in the future, at most it will cause some waves, not to mention whether it can hurt Datang's muscles and bones. If he can hurt a little bit of skin, it is already his ability.

In fact, the main reason for this is because he suffers from foot disease.
"More than [-] volumes of scriptures have been translated." Fa Hai said to Li Chengqian: "How is your handwriting?"

"It's okay."

"Where are the two Highnesses in the courtyard?"

"also may."

"Good." Fa Hai nodded, and asked Li Chengqian to call in the other two highnesses, "The three highnesses, please transcribe the scriptures here. The original scriptures and the scriptures translated by the poor monk will each be recorded."

The three of them transcribed it, while Fahai took out the scripture without words, and wanted to write a scripture that truly belonged to him on it.

At the beginning, I wrote "Cheng Consciousness Theory".

In a blink of an eye, it was the eighth day.

Fa Hai asked Li Chengqian: "Your Highness has been working hard these few days, what do you think?"

Li Chengqian looked at the amount of work that hadn't been completed at all, and sighed: "The emperor is going to make fun of my nephew. These more than 5000 volumes of original scriptures and translations are so huge. I'm afraid I can't finish them in a year or so. Father told me to go back to Daming Palace today, fearing that I would disobey the order and disrespect, so I asked my uncle to meet Father and explain a thing or two for me."

"You don't need to ask your uncle to explain, I make the decision to let you stay." At some time, Li Shimin had entered the hall, and after speaking this sentence, he paused for a few breaths, and then said another sentence to Li Chengqian: "Wait for you to copy After finishing the scriptures, I will give you a free body and let you go for a walk among the people. How about it?"

Li Shimin treated Li Chengqian very kindly today. In the past, he had decided to notify him directly, but now he even asked for his opinion.

Li Chengqian looked at Master Sanzang, but from Master Sanzang, he couldn't see any hints. After careful consideration for a moment, Li Chengqian said: "Thank you, Father, for your fulfillment."

"The period of eight days has come. The lectern platform for my virtuous brother's words has been prepared. The monks and the common people have also found a place to open the altar to give lectures at any time." Word.

"good."

"Brother, look at this scripture, can you find more people to transcribe it? Just rely on the three of them, when will it be transcribed?"

"Of course it's possible." Fa Hai nodded, but still said, "It's just the three His Highnesses, you still need to complete it and carefully transcribe it."

"Naturally." Li Shimin agreed, "I personally supervise them."

Lecture on stage.

Because there was only half a day, Fa Hai didn't talk about too profound content. He picked up some easy-to-understand words, after all, the scriptures are inherently boring, and it is still a small number of people who can really listen to them.
