Krafft's Anomaly Notes

Chapter 319 Boat

Chapter 319 Boat

Green was certain that Kraft was not telling the truth, at least not the whole story.

No evidence is needed. As long as you deal with this kind of people for a long time, you will come to a similar conclusion: a group of well-disguised oddballs whose greatest pleasure in life is to get to the bottom of certain taboos, and the more they go to places that others are unwilling to or rarely set foot in, the more they like it.

For these people, they don't even need to benefit from it, they simply regard the answer and even the process of research as a reward.

If they are occasionally willing to reveal a little about the research at hand, it only means that the real progress has been at least one or two steps beyond.

Just like some people believe that there must be parts of the book "Structure of the Human Body" that have not been officially published, which is enough to sentence the author.

Similarly, Kraft also belongs to this category. Although for a while, Green felt that there was a difference between this professor and that professor, as he got to know him better, his view was later revised: a "Morrison with a stronger sense of social identity and higher moral standards."

This can't be the first time this guy has used "magic".

I can vouch for it with my years of experience. In fact, he should have noticed it long ago, seeing the conflict in the dark when they first met, and his performance when he was chased in the maze of the tomb.

It is beyond the concepts of night vision and intuition. It is more like having another eye hanging "above", looking down from an angle that is not blocked by obstacles such as darkness and walls.

That kind of observation is a bit creepy to think about.

Of course, he didn't think so at the time. There are always some people who perceive the world differently and more deeply than others, but there is nothing strange about it.

This is also the reason why he is willing to cooperate with them. It is always good to cooperate with "ordinary people" with moral bottom line. Regardless of whether the other party believes in God or not, they have similar views and it is easy to reach consensus.

But this place was different. He felt that this place was alive. When a person walked into its stone cavity and the flowing digestive fluid, the surface was digested, some of the internal things were exposed, some were stimulated or changed, and what finally came out was strange, but they all thought they were still themselves.

Kraft, the professor, had no belief in gods to overturn, no loyalty to betray, no bigotry to shake. He was flexible, witnessed, understood, and showed considerable habit.

And getting more and more used to it.

This is exactly what Greene is worried about. A ship will capsize in the wind and waves, but a reef will not, because it is deep in the water.

If that was still acceptable before, then how should we view the man who just cut something that was too much for nightmares in half in front of everyone.

When they looked at each other, Green did not find any surprise. He could probably guess what the other person was thinking: observe, understand, and then apply. What's wrong with that?

At first this seems like a typical academic fallacy, taking the theoretical and making it practical.

But he couldn't even describe exactly what he understood, yet he was sure that understanding made everything solid.

In his mind, the cause and effect were obvious, but he just couldn't explain it to the ordinary people around him and the stubborn people in the church; in his hands, tearing a "line" was as normal as swinging a sword.

Green was horrified.

Without anyone knowing, the lake sent a "human" onto the boat, whose thoughts and strength were approaching those of the creatures.

"You've been looking up there."

The ship sailed into the reefs. It was different from the previous landing. This area was not the shallow water area surrounding the giant pillars. The shape of the rocks was also different. They were tilted toward the outer circle and were taller and more rugged, piercing through the water like bone spurs.

The turbulent lake water weaved around them, collided with them, and slapped and pulled at the boat. The monks who had recovered their strength simultaneously raised four oars to fight against the force that threw them towards the rock protrusion. The water level here was not deep, but it was very fast. You could see the gullies of various sizes on the bottom of the water, the whirlpools and siphons of bubbles between the holes, and it seemed that the bottom was not a whole piece, but a lot of broken rocks.

Compared to the severely bumpy ship, Kraft was obviously more concerned about the upward direction. He turned his gaze away when he heard the question, "Yes, I'm looking at those 'stars'."

"Is there anything special?" Brother Wadin was a little curious, or rather, he was curious about Kraft as a whole.

Thinking "since Green didn't say anything, the problem probably isn't serious", he took the initiative to talk to Kraft.

In fact, he didn't quite understand why his partner seemed to have figured something out and suddenly became silent. At least he was quite interested in that strange power, even if it was not so in line with the doctrine.

No matter whether you are enemies or friends in the future, it is always a good idea to get closer to them while the relationship is still good.

“It looks far away.”

"Not as far as you think. As long as the Stars are willing, they can fall on our heads within three breaths." Kraft changed his position, moved closer to the side of the ship where it was easier to observe, and wrapped the thick rope around his hands twice to prevent himself from being thrown out. "But fortunately, we haven't observed them moving yet."

"Stop talking, we're getting ready to go ashore." Green always felt that every word sounded like an ominous prophecy.

The underwater rocks quickly rose to a height close to the water surface, and the vague arrow head scraped against the hard surface, making a sound. The half arrow shaft that was inserted into the bottom of the boat trembled and made a crisp sound of breaking.

The bottom of the boat ran aground on a rocky beach that repeatedly sucked and gushed out water, as if it had stopped on a blocked air hole.

There are many steep rock clusters sloping outwards, with some regular niche-like depressions on the surface, which are obviously human traces. There is no way of knowing what was once placed inside, and it is probably hollowed out by the rising and falling lake water.

Kraft stepped out of the boat a little weakly, stumbled on the rocky beach, and landed on his hands. Water poured out from the cracks in the rocks, licking the gaps between his fingers, flowing over the back of his hands, and holding his palms backwards, his skin tasted a bit unusual.

A piece of "gravel" floated up and moved towards the bruised and bleeding palm, almost unnoticed among its peers on the ground.

Almost. Kraft immediately turned over and dodged, pulling up the scabbard and striking it a few steps away, revealing a dark, pale color under the stone skin that had been knocked open.

Before taking the next step, the thing used its soft body underneath to turn over the gravel and drilled deeper into the beach.

As if frightened, after a rustling sound, several similar pieces of "gravel" disappeared from their sight.

"I have to say, the ecology of this place is pretty good." The joke that was meant to ease the atmosphere was not very successful. God knows how many Dunling-style water snails were lurking on the rocky beach.

"The good news is that we are definitely in the right place, so be careful."

There's a reason these dangerous little creatures haven't merged into the lake bed, but are clustered here.

"Do you mind if I take some samples back later? The two we got last time might not be enough."

"As long as we can get back, you can gather a tank." Green looked around vigilantly, looking for other larger creatures hidden in the fog. From experience, they would not be too far away from each other.

They walked along the shore for a while, tapping the ground with their scabbards as they went, like mountain hunters using their sticks to scare away hibernating snakes in advance.

No moving creature larger than a human was found. But as far as the eye could see, under the reef near the water, there seemed to be something with a long, streamlined outline, one end of which was lying in the water, and the other end was smashed on the reef during the rough landing.
