The Laws of Werewolf Hunting

Chapter 321 Disagreement

Chapter 321 Disagreement
Clayton remembered Peleg and had noticed his new job as he passed in front of the battle line as a cavalryman.

Before, he always thought that this was just an amateur riding enthusiast, but it turned out that Pileg might not be a good rider, but he was a qualified commander. When he had an information gap, Pileg could immediately seize the opportunity to create an environment that was beneficial to himself.

Clayton already knew what he was going to do.

"Chris, I feel dizzy." Donna said weakly. She didn't know why, but she felt like she was going to fall down at any time.

Clayton saw the crux of the problem at a glance. He grabbed Donna by the scruff of the neck, lifted her up and shook her, then dropped her vertically.

Then Donna finally understood what was going on.

She exclaimed, "The ground is not flat now!"

Her feet noticed this in advance, but her mind did not react. The conflict between her body's instinctive reaction and consciousness was the culprit that made her feel dizzy.

The castle tilted and sank into the pit.

"Can you walk on your own? Use your spiritual awareness and then find a place to hide until I call you." Clayton said. He speculated that the real war was about to break out and Pileg would not miss this opportunity.

Donna shook her head: "Julius and I have different talents. My spiritual perception can only sense living things, and the range is rather limited."

Her uncle sighed, turned around and shouted for the others to settle down, then shouted the little devil's name.

"Clara!"

Something like a crab crawled out of the shadows and moved up Donna's legs.

Clayton took her and held her in his hands. Since arriving in Gevo, Clayton had not had much opportunity to have a serious conversation with Clara, but now he had to take such action because the trust between Donna and Clara still did not reach the qualified range.

The little witch sees Clara as a handy tool, while Clara sees her as a vase that Clayton has asked her to protect.

This is not a good sign, as Clara's body grows and she further develops her demonic powers, she will be smarter and more able to see into people's hearts than before, and that previous cognition will eventually cause cracks in her relationship with Donna that cannot be reconciled.

As their joint guardian, Clayton had a responsibility to resolve the matter. It was too late to try to do so now, but he still wanted to try his best.

"Clara--" Clayton looked into the head's eyes. He knew she could see him too.

"I may not be able to stay with you for the next period of time. Donna is your sister. You must take good care of her."

Although Donna couldn't see anything, she still opened her mouth in surprise.

She could vaguely sense Clayton's intentions, but...was she the one who needed to be accommodated?
Clara sounded as surprised as she was: "Donna is Clara's sister?!"

Clayton's voice became deeper and deeper. "It wasn't before, but it will be in the future. She is younger than you, so she is not as smart as you. I hope you can tolerate her shortcomings and help her when she encounters difficulties. Donna." He called his niece's name: "Come here and promise me to respect Clara as you respect your sister."

Donna hesitated for a few seconds before agreeing, but her heart was like waves.

She and Clara still maintained a mysterious connection, so she could sense that Clayton's decision was not entirely out of consideration for the benefit, but that he really intended to bring Clara into the family, and asked the little devil as an elder to promise to protect her. This made Donna feel weird and awkward from the bottom of her heart.

Until she agreed, Clayton nodded with satisfaction:

"Now you all go together to the third floor to find Basham and seek refuge with him. Louis is with him and he will help you."

"Why do you say such things?" Donna nervously stretched her fingers against the wall.

"Because the defenders on the third floor need you more. That will be the main battlefield next time."

As if to echo Clayton's words, a sound like a snake crawling began to be heard through the wall in the darkness, and more and more of them came from different directions. It was the sound of the "explorer" crawling.

Some of the farmers couldn't stand the feeling and they started shouting.

The sloping ground made it difficult for the plains people, who had a higher center of gravity, to adapt, and the pitch-black environment magnified their lack of confidence. Only the dwarves, who had years of experience working and living underground, were able to remain calm. Even if they lost their vision, they could still sense the surrounding environment through vibrations, and their combat effectiveness did not decrease much.

Half of the defenders on the floor where Clayton was located were unable to see or stand, and he had to deal with the coming attack together with these people.

Under the escort of two Bathum soldiers, Donna reluctantly groped her way up with Clara, and Clayton breathed a sigh of relief.

In the previous negotiations, both Bathem and Hohomer concealed information about Edwards' abilities from him. This was undoubtedly to compete for the right to use Donna and Clara's abilities. By mastering the demon warlock, they would have the advantage of taking the initiative in the final betrayal. The two dwarves insisted on concealing the information and refused to give in, even if it might undermine Clayton's trust in them.

It is precisely because of this that Clayton has a limited understanding of Edwards' abilities, and he may lose the opportunity in the decisive battle and be unable to allow Donna to play a role at the critical moment.

He was confident that he could make up for this shortcoming when he was on the surface, but now the combat effectiveness of the plainsmen has been greatly reduced.
"Bassam, you better not let me down."

The werewolf grunted and raised his axe. The sound of scales scraping against rock was getting closer.

The windows of the castle sunk underground connected to the dwarven mine tunnels, but even they themselves could not tell how many enemies were lurking in the dimness. Soon, several evil creatures came in from several openings. Their extra limbs and snake-like tails helped them balance their bodies. Unlike the situation on the surface, this time they easily dispersed the plainsmen who could not keep their balance. A large number of defenders fell backwards because of this impact, and they rolled together and finally piled up in the corners, and even many dwarves were knocked over.

The effectiveness of the spears was greatly reduced when attacked from the flank. Clayton mobilized some dwarves to replace the short weapons lost by the Dinnon people and take their places to cover the flanks, while he himself prepared to rush forward to fight.

Before actually taking action, Clayton chopped the axe into the corpse prepared nearby. Feeling the gradually increasing weight, his bloodthirsty desire began to rise.

After a wild howl, the werewolf jumped high and smashed the top of an explorer's head, breaking most of its bones. Then it cut off one of its claws to use as a shield and collided with another sturdy monster that had just drilled in through the window. They were so close that they could smell the fishy smell of each other's mouth.

Most of the creature's body had already entered the window. Its extra pair of hands held onto the window to steady its body, preventing the werewolf from pushing it out. The werewolf's reverse-jointed hind legs pushed back with all its might, and its sharp, bestial toenails scratched shallow grooves on the stone floor.

The merciless clash between the two monsters crushed a layer of the bricks and stones around the window.

The werewolf still had the upper hand in strength. He used his shield to push the monster back a distance, then swung the axe from top to bottom to split the monster's head in the middle. When the soft brain tissue was exposed, the huge pale body instantly lost its strength and fell outwards. Clayton used his shield to push him out of the window again, and he fell into the bottomless darkness.

After dealing with the two monsters, Clayton once again looked for the monsters that were fighting with his teammates, and several attacks from behind achieved good results. However, the local advantage could not affect the overall situation. Without the cover of the flank, the spear formation began to collapse. The monsters rushing in from the end of the west corridor and the loss of some windows were gradually eating away at the space for Clayton and others to move around.

If nothing miraculous happened, the loss of the first floor corridor was inevitable.

A similar thing happened on the second floor of the castle.

There is a reserve of candles on the second floor, which provides a limited source of light.

But having lost their horses and unable to adapt to the underground environment, the Dinon people were still defeated. Their formation was torn apart by the group of evil creatures, and the dwarves who were at odds with them watched them collapse. Only a few of the strongest warriors fought and retreated, and fled into the scarecrow team for shelter, including Di Jetali himself.

However, after the farmers were defeated, the dwarves were able to control the situation by relying on the geographical advantage of the second floor.

There are protruding shooting platforms on the second and third floors of the castle. Most of the windows are narrow shooting holes that the monsters cannot pass through. However, the outer guard of this platform is made of wood, and only the lower part is made of stone. The monsters have realized this problem in the last confrontation. This time they attacked while dismantling the outer guard of the shooting platform so that more troops can be put in for the next attack.

The scarecrow's eyes moved rapidly between the holes.

The collapse of the castle was closely related to his previous arrangements.

Before that, he left a group of people to create explosions underground, intending to drill through several layers of tunnels and let Edwards sink to the deepest layer, where there were mineral crystals that could curb the power of the devil.

However, the plan failed. Not only did those people sacrifice themselves, they also left the remaining alchemical explosives to Edwards. These resources were borrowed by Pileg, which led to the current situation.

"What a bunch of idiots!" he cursed.

Regardless of whether they were willing or not, reality was moving in an unfavorable direction. The dwarves were very sensitive to vibrations, and they could feel that the resistance on the first floor was rapidly weakening. There were many plainsmen there, and if they retreated and returned to the upper floor with low morale, it would only disrupt the formation and cause the second floor to fall.

Hohomer had anticipated this, and had therefore given orders to several of his men to guard the stairs and not let any plainsmen come up.

However, this also brought him unexpected gains.

"I want to go upstairs." Donna said, she was pushed in front of the scarecrow Hohom by two dwarves. The current situation was reversed from when they first met, she was the one to be watched.

The two soldiers escorting her and Clara were pinned to the wall by the dwarves with spears, and the hostility implied in this action made Donna very uncomfortable.

Sensing her emotions, Clara also bared her teeth at the Scarecrow.

"You should stay here," Hohom said impatiently, "Can't you see we need help? Let your little pet set off some more fire, just like before."

"No, I can't do that." The little witch said, "Your situation here is not very critical. I want to go upstairs to help."

When the castle sinks underground, there is more than one front line of danger.

The first level will face the evildoers who had previously buried explosives and dealt with the dwarf troops under the castle, while the top floor of the castle is close to the surface and will face the most enemies. Edwards may also intervene in the battlefield, and that may be the place where the true outcome will be decided.

Even though Clayton didn't explain it to Donna, she was able to figure it out on her own.

However, Hohomer's face darkened. "How dare you say we are not facing the most dangerous situation? You can't go anywhere. Don't forget the agreement your father made with us!"

He did not lower his voice, and Di Jetali next to him also heard this and turned his head sharply.

"What agreement?"

"It's none of your business," said the Scarecrow haughtily.

Jetali exchanged glances with the remaining few defeated farmers, and suddenly swung their weapons at the same time, knocking down the dwarves around them. The scarecrow himself was beheaded by Jetali's sword. Then he grabbed Donna and rushed towards the stairs.
