travel starts with photography

Chapter 479 Suzhou Luzhi

When publishing a book, the first one is the most difficult, because the publishing house cannot be sure whether your book will be popular, or whether it will make a profit or a loss.

But the second book, especially the second book after a book has sold well, is a very simple thing to publish.

Moreover, travel books are not like online articles. There is no such thing as timeliness, nor too strict a review process. As long as they are submitted for review, they will basically pass.

Even ten or twenty years from now, well-known travel books will have no trouble selling.

The most famous one should be Xu Xiake's Travel Notes, which was successfully transformed from a travelogue into a literary classic. Even in modern times, many scholars buy it to study every year.

Chen Xing doesn't ask his book to reach this level, as long as someone can be helped by his book and someone likes it, that's enough.

After completing the contracts for two books, Chen Xing set off for Suzhou.

The last time he came to Jiangsu was because he wanted to see the ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River. At that time, he was quite ambitious because he had just published a travelogue, so he wanted to visit one hundred ancient towns in China at one time and then write a book.

However, due to the fact that many ancient towns are nowadays becoming homogeneous, this travel plan to visit one hundred ancient towns could not go on until the first twenty, so we had to give up and go back to rest.

Now I have been invited by the China Photography Association to give a lecture in an ancient town called Luzhi, Lu Nian Road, which is too obscure and most people may not be able to pronounce it.

Luzhi is located in Suzhou and was developed early, almost at the same time as the ancient town of Suzhou. It has a history of more than 2,500 years.

Originally, this place was not called Luzhi, but Fuli.

During the Qing Dynasty, there was Zhigang on the east side of the ancient town. Three horizontal and three vertical rivers led to Liuchu and merged with the Wusong River. Seen from the air, the river looked very similar to Lu, so it was renamed Luzhi.

Chen Xing didn't know much about this place. He only knew that it was another typical Jiangnan ancient town with small bridges and flowing water. He had looked up information about this place when he came to Jiangnan for tourism before.

As soon as he got off the plane, Chen Xing was picked up by people from the association.

The girl holding the pick-up sign was in her twenties, about 1.6 meters tall, wearing round-frame glasses, and looked very quiet. When she saw Chen Xing coming out of the airport, she started waving the sign.

Of course she knew Chen Xing. With such temperament and height, it would be hard to forget him once you have seen him.

Since he was only on a business trip for a few days, Chen Xing didn't bring a suitcase and just carried a bag.

The temperature in Suzhou is similar to that in Chengdu, but the air is slightly drier, so it doesn't seem that cold. As soon as you walk out of the airport, the sun shines on your body, and you feel warm.

Chen Xing glanced at the bright light bulb in the sky and said with emotion: "It's been a long time since I last saw the sun."

The girl who picked me up at the airport asked, "Teacher Chen is from Sichuan Province, right? Isn't there sunshine in Sichuan Province?"

"Yeah, but it's not nothing, just a little less."

The Sichuan Basin is a very peculiar place. The heat in the summer is probably known all over the country, and it is one of the ten famous furnaces. But the coldness in the winter may be incomprehensible to many people.

Because it is a basin and there is a plateau to the west, there are heavy clouds in the sky, so you can hardly see the sun in winter.

Moreover, the air is humid. It is extremely dry in the north and south in winter, with the air humidity only at 20 or 30%. However, the humidity in Chengdu can reach 75. You can imagine how dry it is.

The quilt is always cold, and thick clothes are rarely dry after washing, so when the sun comes out, Chengdu people will wash clothes or go out to bask in the sun no matter how lazy or homebound they are. The assistant with glasses listened to the story the whole time. She has not been to Sichuan Province yet, and she is quite yearning for this place.

"I was thinking of asking you to introduce some tourist attractions. I want to go there in a few days."

"The fun places in Chengdu are all described clearly on the Internet. Kuanzhai is a commercial street, so just go and have a look. If you want to eat or buy some souvenirs, you can find them on any street..."

They soon got in the car and the driver was also listening to what Chen Xing said.

People who have written travelogues can tell the story of a city very clearly, and this is a city that Chen Xing is very familiar with. He has walked to many places in the city just for street sweeping.

Especially in old urban areas and old neighborhoods.

His shooting style makes him not like overly modern buildings. He prefers the stories that happen in these old towns. So unless he is going out to take pictures of beautiful women, he seldom goes to places that are too commercialized.

The more he wandered around and the more people he met, the more stories about old Chengdu he knew than some people who had lived in Chengdu for decades.

It was just getting dark when he arrived in Luzhi, which was dinner time in Suzhou, but there were still many people welcoming him.

There were about ten people, including middle-aged and young people. The man in the lead was about forty or fifty years old. From his temperament, one could tell that he was a leader. He held Chen Xing's hand and shook it vigorously.

"Young and promising, young and promising, Mr. Chen has made a name for himself in the international market at such a young age, and has also explored a new path for the new generation of photographers in our country."

"You are so polite. Are you Teacher Liu?"

"Yes, it's me. I'm Liu Hui, vice chairman of the Jiangsu Photography Association and editor-in-chief of China Photography Network. I'm very happy that Teacher Chen can come to Suzhou to participate in our training."

He took Chen Xing towards the hotel, and many people on the road looked over here.

This is a garden-style hotel, which fits Chen Xing's usual impression of Jiangnan. Each building is an imitation of an antique building, and there are various rockery and flowing water on both sides of the road.

Even if you don’t go to the ancient town outside to take pictures, you can probably take some very good photos just in this hotel.

On the way, Liu Hui was still introducing this training to Chen Xing.

"This is the 12th National Youth Photographers Study Class. For a total of half a month, we will take the students to various places in Suzhou to collect materials and then invite some famous teachers to give lectures. I am really happy that Teacher Chen can come this time."

Not everyone can enter this study class. First of all, priority is given to training young members of the China Photography Association, and secondly, recommendations from local and provincial photography associations are accepted.

More than 60 people were selected from countless photographers across the country to form a half-month study course. This is also a very important qualification after graduation, which makes it easier to find related jobs.

Secondly, this is also a place to develop personal connections.

More than 60 excellent photographers can get to know each other, and when they travel to different places in the future, they can find local friends, and they can also get to know many top-level lecturers.

Take Chen Xing for example, an international photographer who is either abroad or in Chengdu. People all over the world are following his photography style, and he is still young, only 23 years old.

This kind of person, let alone in the past, will probably be a mountain that cannot be climbed in the Chinese photography circle even in five years. (End of this chapter)
