Chapter 1267 Chapter 189 Wilson and Adele
Chapter 1267 189. Wilson and Adele
The next time Wilson heard the name Adele, she was already the owner of the Black Reef Tavern.
Because the shop left to him by his parents was not doing well, Wilson simply sold it all and bought a pub to become his own boss, thus fulfilling his dream of becoming a bard.
Although the pub didn't make much money, it rarely made a loss. Together with his savings, it was enough for him to live a comfortable life.
On weekdays, Wilson sat behind the counter, listening to the stories of the minstrels and the guests bragging about their experiences. Occasionally, when there were no minstrels, he would play the role of a minstrel and tell the stories he heard to new guests.
He lived like this for three years. One day, when he was listening to the bard's stories behind the counter as usual, two customers talked about a riot in a mine and mentioned a name.
"Adele."
Wilson's eyes were blurred with memories: "Do you know what I thought of when I heard this name?"
"Joy?" Annan asked cooperatively.
"Actually, I was confused... I thought I would never hear this name again in my life."
It's like when you're packing your luggage when moving, you find your favorite toy from childhood that you can't find anywhere in the corner.
Memories flooded into Wilson's mind like a tide. He sat in a daze behind the counter for the whole day. Only when the last customer left did his soul return to his body.
The two guests had disappeared long ago, and Wilson didn't have time to ask where they were.
He was panicked for a moment, thinking that what he had grasped was just an illusion. When he came to his senses, he remembered that he knew many professionals, many of whom were well-informed.
Through them, Wilson found out the location of the mine where the riot took place, and also found out that the leader of the riot was indeed a woman named Adele.
That night, Wilson purchased a large amount of food, herbs and magic scrolls, rented a carriage, and spent the whole day rushing to the mine where the riot occurred.
As soon as he approached, several men holding blood-stained weapons rushed out of the mine and surrounded him.
"I'm not an enemy! I know Adele and I'm here to find her!" Wilson quickly raised his hands and shouted.
The men turned around at the same time and looked at a short-haired brown woman walking out of the mine.
"Are you looking for me?"
Wilson stared at the figure in a daze. The familiar face instantly brought him back to his brilliant childhood memories.
"Wilson?"
Adele also recognized him, and her brows gradually relaxed: "You even wore the same clothes as when you were a child."
Wilson lowered his head. It was just an ordinary clean shirt... Adele was also wearing a loose, ill-fitting, dirty linen coat.
The setting sun stretched the distant mountains into a narrow strip, separating the two of them.
……
Wilson and Adele sat on a large rock outside the mine.
In the distance, Adele's men gathered in front of the carriage brought by Wilson. After taking out boxes of goodies, the brutal and simple thugs suddenly became honest and kind.
"I heard there was a woman named Adele here, and I thought it might be you, so I came to find you..."
Wilson had thought of countless things to say on the way here, but when he really saw Adele, he was suddenly at a loss for words. It took him a long time to utter: "You...what happened next?"
Adele was much more relieved. She leaned back and supported herself with her hands. "After a big fight with you, my parents married me to Peter, the gardener. He couldn't wait to sleep with me that night. It really hurt... But when I think about having a full meal every day like today, and my parents smiling, it doesn't seem to hurt that much."
Wilson clenched his fists unconsciously.
"Sorry..." "It has nothing to do with you. We are still young. What do we know? If I were to do it again, maybe I would still choose this way."
The smile Adele gave was the most complicated smile Wilson had ever seen.
There is bitterness and sweetness, regret and nostalgia...
"I later heard that the cherry orchard had burned down, so I went to your house and found no one at home..."
"Well, the thugs came in, killed my parents and my 'husband', and took everything they could, including me."
Wilson told Annan the story that Adele had told him.
Before they could enjoy a few days of good life, they fell into a hell darker than before.
From the age of ten, Adele had been a mistress, a slave, a vagrant, and was once thrown into a pot and almost boiled.
At the age of fifteen, she escaped from the devil's den, cut her hair, abandoned her "girl" identity that allowed her to survive, and went to work as a miner like a man.
She went back to the Golden City, to her own home and Wilson's home, but there was nothing left. When she came out, she was caught by the slave owner, beaten and sold into the mine.
Adele, no longer burdened or constrained, began planning a riot and persuading other workers.
"I don't think it should be like this. We are also residents, why can they point at us and call us slaves? We are clearly making a lot of money for those nobles and mine owners, why do they oppress, beat and scold us, and not give us enough food? How can we endure this kind of life?"
Wilson knew what happened next. Adele started a riot and successfully killed the mine owner and his subordinates who oppressed them.
"Did you hear I was here?"
"Yes, in my tavern."
After Wilson finished speaking, Adele stood up and shouted to the jubilant men: "Our news has reached the Golden City! Those minions of the devil will soon come to encircle us. Hurry up and save the other brothers who are still suffering!"
Wilson looked up at Adele, who was shouting.
She was not considered strong, but at this moment, she exuded a convincing, leadership-like aura.
"Wilson, go back." Adele said with her head down.
Wilson stood up: "I want to help you."
"Forget it, we are not from the same world, just like ten years ago." She said, pointing at their clothes.
But Wilson would not let go easily: "You lack resources and information channels, right? I have a lot of money and a pub, I can help you!"
Adele hesitated. She really needed these, but she didn't want to drag her only friend into the abyss.
Wilson's eyes were red, and he begged, "I... have already left you once, don't let me leave you a second time, okay?"
"Okay, we won't be separated again."
And so, Wilson joined Adele's resistance group.
In order to make up for the regrets of his childhood, Wilson took out all his money to support Adele.
In order to protect Wilson, Adele also hid his existence. At least among those who betrayed Adele later, none of them knew Wilson.
Two lonely people become closer and closer to each other through mutual help, until...
"We are separated again, this time forever."
