Chapter 398 Preliminary preparations for industrial level

Chapter 398 Preliminary preparations for industrial level
In Professor Kip Thorne's office at Beijing University, Kip Thorne, Zhang Hao, and Hans Zimmer were discussing
Americans do not have the habit of celebrating the New Year. Kip Thorne did not go back during the Spring Festival after Christmas, but stayed in the capital.

Hans Zimmer did the same. He didn't care that the Spring Festival was a holiday and took Zhang Hao to discuss work.

Of course, in order to let the two foreigners feel the atmosphere of the Spring Festival, Zhang Hao and Da Mi Mi took their children to celebrate the New Year with their families in Kip Thorne's small villa.

Also coming were several domestic physicists and their families.

At this moment, these Yangtze River scholars, academic experts, are enthusiastically discussing black hole models, theoretical data, the effects of gravity and other advanced physics knowledge with Kip Thorne.

When talking about something happy, he would pull over a whiteboard and use a pen to calculate on it.

Scenes like this have happened many times since I started preparing the theory for "Interstellar".

Da Mi Mi sat next to Zhang Hao and listened for a long time. He said he didn't understand, so he went to the kitchen to make dumplings. The children were noisy, but it did not affect the discussion among these physicists at all.

Zhang Hao is telling Hans Zimmer a story. The story generally looks like this:

The father of a daughter had no choice but to leave home and go to a far away place, but he missed his daughter and wanted to return to her quickly.

Hans Zimmer created the soundtrack based on this short story.

After listening to the discussion among the physicists and Zhang Hao's story, Hans Zimmer came up with the creative idea.

He first decided to use the pipe organ as the main musical instrument to compose the entire film soundtrack.

After the year, Hans Zimmer planned to set off to find a church in England and start composing a soundtrack. And Zhang Hao will also go to the UK to join Hans Zimmer after finishing "The Fault in Our Stars" to complete some important work together.

After celebrating the New Year with his professor, Zhang Hao continued to work on the filming of "The Fault in Our Stars" and attended the Oscars ceremony where he presented a Best Supporting Actor award.

"The Dark Knight Rises" won two awards, one for Best Sound Effects and one for Best Cinematography, but nothing else.

After returning, Zhang Hao completed the final filming of "The Fault in Our Stars" and the film was announced to be finalized.

Sister Zifeng and Haoran are the leading actors, and their feelings during this period are quite complicated. On the one hand, it is a very good opportunity to act in director Zhang's film.

On the other hand, Director Zhang was preparing for another big project, but he didn't seem to pay much attention to this movie, and seemed to be shooting it casually.

However, his level of shooting and playing is better than most directors.

Sister Zifeng and Haoran also want to act in "Interstellar". Strictly speaking, such a commercial production is the stage that actors long for.

But it's a pity that the casting for "Interstellar" has been decided long ago, and there is no room for them.

In contrast, the three-character brother is much happier. He originally thought that the supporting role he would play would be a character with few lines or roles, but he did not expect that he would be the second male lead in the show.

Although the film mainly revolves around the characters played by Zifeng's sister and Haoran, this is the second male lead in Zhang Hao's film!

Although the three-character younger brother was scolded every day on the set and was criticized many times by Zhang Hao, saying that his acting skills were not good, he was the second male lead...

If it weren't for Zhang Hao's dislike, the three-character brother would have considered Zhang Hao as his godfather. This was really too surprising.

It is conceivable that when the film is released, the audience will see him in the starring column. This will be a huge improvement for the three-character brother.

Therefore, although the three-character younger brother received the most scolding from the entire crew, he still worked conscientiously in filming. It's rare that I didn't go to commercial performances with the other two, but just stayed with the crew.

What the agent said makes sense. Although my acting skills are not very good, I have a good attitude!
Therefore, except for Zhang Hao who still did not look down upon the three-character brother, the other staff members on the crew looked at the three-character brother with admiration.

Several veteran actors who participated in the film also said that although the three-character younger brother is not very talented, he works hard and may not be able to become a real actor in time. The three-character brother was still confused after hearing these words, but when he saw Zhang Hao's stinky face, he became honest instantly.

If you don't perform well, what's the point of trying hard? You should be scolded when you deserve it.

The three-character brother feels that his ability to withstand psychological stress has been trained by Zhang Hao and is far ahead of the other two brothers.

Isn't this a kind of progress...

Not long after finishing the filming of "The Fault in Our Stars", Zhang Hao did not take a break and continued to work on the film's post-production while focusing on the preparatory work for "Interstellar".

First, Zhang Hao went to see the corn field that Lu Zihong was in charge of. Because the planting results were good, the growth of the 3000 acres of corn field was gratifying. After harvesting last year, he sold it for a sum of money.

Now when the buyer sells it to others, he also reveals that it is corn grown by the great director Zhang Hao to increase the selling price.

In this way, word spread that Zhang Hao's team planted [-] acres of cornfields in the northwest. Only then did movie fans realize why Zhang Hao had named the film Cornfield.

The production of another early prop is also very interesting.

There are two robots in the film, but Zhang Hao still requested that no special effects be used.

The design team spent only eight weeks to finally make the robot move by triggering the accessory controller through the hydraulic system.

Just like playing a video game, you use buttons to control the movements of each joint of the machine, and even the screen is real.

The two robots weigh 90 kilograms and will be handed over to professional stage actors to operate during filming.

The key is that the shape of the robot in the film is very special, just like the cube man in "Minecraft", it can be called a unique shape.

Regarding the design of the spaceship, the creative team also hopes to be close to reality. There are three kinds of spaceships in the film: Hercules, Landing and Yugong.

For this purpose, the team studied documentaries on the International Space Station and visited the Tiangong Space Station model built within the space agency.

Engineers first used a 3D printer to create a model, and then hired a team of sculptors to make individual parts.

The Yugong circular mothership is composed of 12 compartments and rotates at 5 times per minute to generate 1G of gravity through centripetal force.

Connected by an airlock system and curved continuous floors, 12 compartments assume different missions: four engine compartments and four permanent compartments.

It also includes living quarters, cockpit, cryogenic chamber and medical laboratory, and four landing modules that will be placed on the surface of the new planet.

When making the spacecraft, the team used steel and polystyrene to make a model more than 10 meters long. They also designed hydraulic landing gear, airtight cabins, waterproof layers, freezing beds and hydraulic seats.

Through a six-axis gimbal, the operator can precisely control its movement.

Zhang Hao experimented with the performance of the spacecraft under the lens. The spacecraft traversed the background plate to capture the true appearance under a specific light environment.

The ring-shaped mothership was made into a miniature model at a scale of 1:15.

During filming, the actors could see through the portholes a scene that was exactly the same as in real space. The precise and huge projection allowed them to quickly immerse themselves in the space situation.

The production of all this is precise, accurate, fast, and methodical, which fully reflects the current film production level of Zhang Hao's team.

It’s hard to say whether Chinese-language films have achieved industrialization, but at least Zhang Hao’s team has achieved industrialized production pipelines.
