Chapter 504 Humanity and Freedom ([-])

"God is the essence of man, and form is just a shell, like a stone on the ground."

"That's why, when the body dies, the spirit remains."

A Buddhist disciple said so.

The so-called god refers to human consciousness, soul, spirit, and thought, and the so-called form refers to the external body, wealth, status, etc. of a person.

After Buddhism entered the Central Plains, it also began to follow the trend and integrate with the metaphysics of the Central Plains.

So when we look at the theories of Taoism and Buddhism, we will find that there are many theories in common between them, just changing the synonyms.

Because Buddhism and Taoism have been merging with each other, Buddhism has absorbed some theories of Taoism, and Taoism has also absorbed many theories of Buddhism, and in later generations it has become that Buddha is Tao, and Tao is Buddha.

God is the foundation, form is void, this is the idea advocated by metaphysics.

It is believed that what is really important to a person is his spirit, not the body and things outside the body, and the spirit can exist independently without the body and things outside the body.

All the people present thought they were noble people, so they did not refute this sentence, but echoed it.

However, Lin Zhi stood up untimely and retorted: "People who don't have enough to eat don't have the mind to think, and people who live in fear of death every day don't care about shame, so gods can't exist independently without form. There would be no God."

"Without food, clothing, housing, and transportation, without human plastic shells, without these external forms, gods cannot exist."

"That's why, when the body dies, the spirit dies!"

Lin Zhi explained his point of view.

"Hehe." A metaphysician retorted: "Water is still water without a cup. Even if the cup is broken, it cannot annihilate the water. Even if we lose wealth, status, and even life, our spirit can last forever."

Facing the metaphysician's sophistry, Lin Zhi could not refute it, so he had to give up.

During the debate, a Confucian scholar often talked about "the emperor, the ministers and the ministers" again, shaking his head and sighing to everyone: "Nowadays, all countries in the world are in turmoil because of disorder. Don't do what a courtier should do, and think about usurping the throne all day to become a monarch."

This is to hope that all levels of society will do their own thing well and stop thinking wildly.

When the monarch coordinates the affairs of the whole country well, the ministers manage the local people well, the common people farm and produce well, the wife weaves well and has children, in this way, the world will be peaceful.

But now, the monarch does not take care of the country’s major affairs, but thinks about luxury enjoyment every day, and the ministers do not act honestly as ministers to manage the people, but think about how to usurp the throne and become the monarch every day, and the people do not honestly farm and produce, and rebel every day. , The order completely collapsed.

After all, they still perform their own duties, all classes live in peace, the upper class loves the lower class, and the lower class is loyal to the upper class.

Lin Zhi retorted: "The seven emotions and six desires are human instincts. The monarch likes to enjoy luxury, the courtiers want to go further, and the people want to get rid of suffering. These are their instincts that drive them to do so. How can it be forbidden?"

"In ancient times, floods were rampant. Gun blocked the water to control the water, but it caused greater disasters. Yu used the water to control the water, directed the flood, and finally moistened all nations."

"People's desires are like scourges. If you want to suppress the blockage, you can't stop it. In the end, you will only make people in the world pretend to be one way and hide another thing. The real way should be to follow the desires of people's hearts and guide and dredge people's desires."

"The monarch can enjoy extravagance, the courtiers can also go further, and the people can also be restless, as long as everything is within a reasonable range, this is the real medicine for governing the country."

After Lin Zhi finished speaking, everyone present roared with laughter.

"Where did you learn the crooked way, to encourage the monarch to enjoy extravagance, to encourage the ministers to be submissive, and to encourage the common people to rebel and make trouble? "

An old Confucian scholar taunted Lin Zhi disdainfully, and even showed his school background, proudly said: "I have a school from Guliang, may I ask where your school is from?"

"I was self-taught in the library of the school." Lin Zhi replied truthfully, not feeling ashamed of not having a teacher.

"Ye Luzi, who doesn't have a teacher, dares to speak up here!" Someone taunted.

The Confucian scholars brought up their own teachings, and even used the words of the sage Confucius to provide a basis for their debate, so that Lin Zhi could not fight back.

People have used the words of the saints to argue, why do you fight back, isn't fighting back the same as fighting back against the saints? It would be treason to fight back against the saint!
Lin Zhi couldn't bear it anymore, and finally said unwillingly: "Is what the sage said must be right?"

woohoo-

As soon as this statement came out, there was an uproar.

Debates are all about finding faults in each other's words, such as pointing out that the other party has problems understanding a certain sentence of the sage.

But no one has ever dared to accuse the sage of saying something wrong.

A sage cannot have problems. If there is a problem, it must be that future generations have misunderstood the original meaning of the sage.

"A sage is also a human being. A sage also eats and sleeps like us, gets married and has children like us, and is a living person like us. He is not a god, so why can't he make mistakes?"

Lin Zhi was still crazily outputting his opinions, but he didn't know that his opinions had already surprised everyone.

"Absurd! Absurd!"

"What a crazy boy, actually thinks that the saint is wrong."

"You think the saint is wrong, so what are you? What qualifications do you have to say that the saint is wrong?"

"The sage traveled around the world, traveled thousands of miles, and saw all the joys and sorrows in the world before he found the truth in the world. And you, where did you come from a wild way, and dare to speak wild words to the sage!"

The crowd stopped debating, but started to drive Lin Zhi out of the scene, prohibiting Lin Zhi from making trouble here, and some even went to the government to report Lin Zhi, saying that someone insulted the sages, deceived the public, and deceived the people.

"I didn't say I was right. I made a lot of mistakes, because I am a human being and I will make mistakes, but a saint is also a human being. Wouldn't he make the same mistakes as us?" Lin Zhi was still outputting crazily.

"Shut up!" Someone yelled at Lin Zhi.

"This is a debate held by the government of Yan State. Everyone can speak freely here. Why should I shut up? Don't you all debate with your mouth shut?" Lin Zhi retorted.

"you!"

Everyone was angry, thinking that Lin Zhi had come here on purpose to mess around.

However, not long after, the soldiers of Yan State who maintained order came and drove Lin Zhi out.

"Why?" Lin Zhi was puzzled.

"Someone accuses you of deceiving the public with your gossip," the soldier replied.
