Chapter 121 The Underground Inn

Chapter 121 The Underground Inn
Antal could not refute, he did not do so.Every day he has a lot of things to do, except his manor, his family, his men, soldiers, farmers, servants, and himself, he doesn't care about other things. He never had a boring day because there was always something going on and something to do.

He remembers the friends of his youth, and even his enemies, but he feels he never has time to visit them all.

If he hadn't such great ambitions, if he didn't want to manage the whole estate, if he didn't feel that his estate could one day be turned into a completely self-sufficient small estate, then he could spend his time on travel, entertainment, and feasting.

Does it make him look like a bad guy that he could have achieved titles, status, and power in an easier way?

Maybe he's guilty, yes, because he's always wanting more and better things, he's never content to stand still, he won't stop planting a new birch grove or Raise more livestock.

Maybe it really was a mistake, and he's now paying for it.

He wasn't interested in chatting with old friends, he didn't even go back to his old stone house in Chalokoz, and he always entrusted Mikolaj with a big money bag so that old Steve and His wife, Katrin, was taken care of.

Did they hate him now too?Antal felt terrible just thinking about it, maybe he could have visited those who used to be his support every once in a while, if only once.

"If that's what you think, so be it," Antal sighed bitterly, "maybe I'm a bad guy, a selfish bastard who hasn't thought about it for nine years and maybe his friend isn't having a great time .But even so, I'm still here.

If you need me, I will be more than happy to help you, just ask. Please, we're not strangers, don't be like this! He added suddenly, "Why are you making things difficult for yourself?" "

"Antal, for God's sake!" Laszlo moaned, pressing his hands to his forehead, "Why do you think you have to help me at all costs? You treat me like a bad kid!"

Antal has persisted until now, but he couldn't bear it anymore. He felt that he was being honest and careful, so when Laszlo again accused him of being a compromise, he lost control.

"Because I've seen what you've become!" he jumped up, howling like a jackal, "you were an aspiring knight when I left and a drunken bastard when I came back !
I know everything about you, my subordinates have been inquiring about you!Where is the Saracen sword I gave you?You know, the Saracen sword that William brought back from the Holy Land, I think you lost it too!
You sleep with mercenaries, drink all day, and find whores every now and then! You smell like a rat now! "

Laszlo stood up and knocked over the table.

"How dare you send your dog to follow me?" he growled, "What do you think I'll do? When you and your big guy show up in front of me fully dressed, I'll kneel in front of you Begging for a handout? Not even a mouse has a worse friend than you!"

"Very well," Antar ended the quarrel, "if you want to go to hell, go to hell! But remember, if I walk out of that door now, you don't come with me, in my eyes You're a dead man here! Did you hear that? I don't want to put up with your stupidity anymore, do you understand?"

"Then what are you waiting for?" Laszlo said with a smile, as if mad. "Get out, you self-righteous fellow! Stop spying on me!"

With his back to Laszlo, Antar walked up the creaking wooden stairs heartbroken, completely unexpected for him. From above, he looked back again, though no longer counting on his childhood friend to change his mind.

"Are you still here?" he asked in a low voice. "Here?"

Laszlo turned away so the knight wouldn't see his welling up tears. "Get out and forget about me forever!"

It was evening when Antal went to Timisoara full of grief. He didn't say a word to his squire, or the proprietor who had been kicked out of his tavern, but walked straight on, eyes fixed ahead, trying to get that damned tavern out of his mind as quickly as possible.

Simon heard the whole conversation, asked no questions, but followed his master silently.

"Despicable beast!" the tavernkeeper said through gritted teeth when he thought the two could not hear him, "they drove everyone out of my inn..."

"Inn?" The complaint came to Simon's ears, "You still have the nerve to call your mole hole an inn?"

"Take it, it's inconvenient for you!" Antal threw a money bag to the tavern owner, who quickly caught it, and then hid it in his clothes, "Buy some decent bars!"

Before that, the tavernkeeper had planned to ban Laszlo permanently, but he had more silver coins than he could earn in a whole week.So he also bought the unlucky fellow a few jugs, told him to come here often, and prayed that the rich grown-ups would kick down the door of his tavern again and drive the guests out.
