"Gong Yangru?"

Lin Ke narrowed his eyes when he heard this.

What is Gong Yangru?
In previous lives, many unlearned and unskilled people attributed the reason for China's backwardness to Confucianism. Many people even clamored that people outside were bloody and that Chinese men were weak. This was all because of what Confucianism taught.

However, the real situation is different.

There are many reasons why the people of the past were called "Han" instead of "Tang", "Song", and "Qing".

One of them is that Han Dynasty truly displayed the momentum and spirit of a nation.

The state of Heng was destroyed by weakness, and the Han Dynasty was destroyed by strength.

The dignity of a nation is contained in it.

The Han Dynasty was the dynasty in which Confucian revanchism was most prevalent!
There are endless cases of killing people for their parents' blood friends. Most of these things are praised by society, and many murderers are pardoned and even receive awards.

And this mentality of "If you want to kill me, I will take a bite of your flesh even if I die" comes from the Gongyang Confucian school.

"Hanshu Biography of Xiongnu" says:

"The emperor wanted to trap Hu, so he issued an edict: Emperor Gao left me with the worry of Pingcheng; when he was empress of Gao, Shanyu Shujue rebelled. In the past, Duke Xianggong of Qi restored the hatred of nine generations, and the "Spring and Autumn" was the most serious."

The famous Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty launched a war against the Xiongnu based on the "Gongyang Zhuan" and the story of Qi Xianggong.

Generals such as Wei Qing and Huo Qubing also emerged at that time, and the Han Dynasty continued to enjoy peace for hundreds of years.

This idea originally originated from the Spring and Autumn Period.

Gongyang said: "Can we still avenge the revenge of the ninth generation?"

Confucius said: "Restore the royal way, respect the king and fight against the barbarians. The hatred of ten generations can still be avenged!"

Confucius was not the image of a weak and corrupt Confucian who could be bullied as some people with lower education think, but a fierce man who was 1.83 meters tall and traveled around the world on his feet.

As written in "The Analects of Confucius: Xian Wen": "One might say: 'How to repay evil with kindness?' Confucius said: 'How to repay kindness? Repay evil with straightness, repay kindness with kindness.'"

Confucius was never a person who suggested that when someone reaches his face with his fist, he still smiles and says it’s not in the way.

Either assess the situation and return the punch later, or return it on the spot.

The Gongyang lineage studied Confucius' thoughts and adopted the idea that revenge for ten generations can be repaid.

The Gongyang sect even preaches that not only can revenge be avenged in the present, but revenge can still be taken even after a hundred generations have passed.

"How many lifetimes have our ancestors lived? Nine lifetimes. Can we take revenge in nine lifetimes? Even a hundred lifetimes can do it."

Lin Ke read out these original words, and then looked at everyone: "Do you understand what great revenge is?"

"Confucianism of the Gongyang family?" Gao Yan and Wu Jun looked at each other and shook their heads. Neither of them knew about it, they just heard about it.

"The most well-known of the Gongyang Confucian lineage should be Dong Zhongshu and Dong Sheng." Wen Meng frowned: "However, this lineage is very strict in accepting disciples, and there are very few disciples alive."

The monk said at this time: "The young monk has heard from the abbot that people from the Gongyang family are informal, bold and unrestrained, but they are not like the people of the world imagine."

The middle-aged Taoist priest guessed: "Is this principle of great revenge equivalent to the principle of 'great unification' mentioned by Dong Sheng?"

The young Taoist priest said nothing, but looked at Lin Ke, waiting for Lin Ke to explain.

Lin Ke looked at Xiao Er and Ah Shui with a smile: "Do you know?"

"Big revenge? Never heard of it." The waiter shook his head: "Is there a small revenge?"

Ah Shui also shook the huge bull's head, but there seemed to be light shining deep in his eyes.

Lin Ke smiled: "Great revenge means taking revenge as the greatest thing!"

Everyone was stunned.

Lin Ke, on the other hand, was walking in the pavilion, talking eloquently:
"The Book of Rites: Quli says that the hatred of a father cannot be shared by the same people, the hatred of a brother cannot be fought against, and the hatred of a friend cannot be from another country."

The hatred for killing his father is irreconcilable. No matter where the enemy is, he must be found and killed.

If your brother is killed, you must always carry weapons and prepare for revenge. If your friend is killed, you must either avenge your friend or leave the country. Anyway, you cannot be in the same country with him.

"...This is what Confucius said. Meng Sheng also said: I now know the importance of killing relatives. If you kill your father, you will also kill your father. If you kill your brother, you will also kill your brother!" You kill me. Dad, I can kill your dad.

If you kill my brother, I can kill your brother.

Confucius and Mencius' Confucianism is straightforward and does not teach the kind of truth that is inexplicable and contrary to human nature.

Of course, the so-called revenge is just an explanation of the word benevolence.

The concept of benevolence includes filial piety, brotherhood, loyalty, trustworthiness, propriety, righteousness, integrity, shame, etc., among which filial piety is the first.

This order includes Confucian philosophical thinking about "people" and "who am I, where do I come from, and where am I going?"

Unlike religious culture, which believes that humans are created by God, so their lives are given by God, and it is God who is grateful.

Confucius believed that human life is given by parents. Parents not only gave birth to themselves in ten months of pregnancy, but also worked hard to raise them. Therefore, kindness includes giving birth to kindness and nurturing kindness.

Why should I repay this kindness? Repay filial piety.

This is the ethical foundation of Confucianism. Therefore, in ancient China, filial piety was often used to govern the world, and filial piety and integrity were also promoted. Even if a person was filial, he would be praised by those who heard him and appreciated by the nobles.

Since "benevolence" is divided into levels of relatives and friends, there is a moral basis for revenge for parents, relatives and friends, because "benevolence" to others is not as important as "benevolence" to parents, relatives and friends.

Of course, Lin Ke also knew that the reason why Gongyang Ru was not a crazy person.

Confucius and Mencius advocated revenge, but they only advocated a certain concept of benevolence and righteousness.

Although Gongyang Ru advocated great revenge, he also put forward very clear requirements and limits for revenge.

"...Has your husband told you this?"

After Lin Ke finished speaking the quotations of Confucius and Mencius, he asked Ah Shui and the waiter with a smile.

The waiter scratched his head: "I think...you said that?"

Ah Shui's eyes were determined: "I told you!"

Lin Ke looked at Ah Shui who straightened up and concentrated on his body, smiled and shook his head: "Gongyang Confucianism not only needs revenge, but also needs a reason for revenge and a reason for revenge."

"The reason for revenge lies in who you want to avenge, and what kind of relationship and kindness that person has to you."

"Knowing the reasons for revenge can help you define how to take revenge and how to take revenge appropriately."

"Otherwise, if someone kills a cat in your house, and you kill the whole family, wouldn't the world be ruined?"

Cause and effect correspond!

You kill my relatives, I will kill your relatives.

But if you kill the native chicken that I raised for the New Year, you can give me two hundred yuan as compensation in addition to the cost of the chicken, which is considered revenge.

Gentleman, we should treat each other equally.

"And the principle of revenge lies in justice."

"Your father was killed because of innocence. Of course you should take revenge. But if your father was killed because of committing a crime, and others spared your life, it would be considered as not eradicating the root cause, but you went to take revenge? Where is the justice?"

If your father was killed because he was robbed or killed for money, then you should take revenge.

But because your father raped an innocent young lady, he was beaten to death by the girl in self-defense?

Are you embarrassed to take revenge?
"There is a saying that if the father is not punished, the son can take revenge. If the father is punished, the son can take revenge. This is the way to push the edge."

"Meng Sheng once said: If a king treats his ministers like dirt, then his ministers will regard him as a bandit. If there is an enmity and it is justified, even the Holy Emperor can draw a sword in front of him!"

Lin Ke said such disrespectful words, but no one said anything because the words were untrue.

The Holy Emperor did not regard the world as trivial, but instead put the world first in everything. He even greatly ceded power to the Three Gongs and Twelve Tribes, which won the hearts of the people of the world.

None of the people present felt that Lin Ke was insulting the Holy Emperor. They all knew that Lin Ke was just giving an example.

"In addition, there is another sentence..."

Lin Ke looked into the eyes of the big buffalo Ah Shui, and his eyes flashed:
"The only thing recovered is the body of the killer." (End of chapter)
