Chapter 25 My Heart, My Nature

This passage is from The University.

One of the main investigations of the imperial examination in Daqian is the Four Books and Five Classics written by Confucian sages, which have a fixed format and are called stereotyped essays.

Confucianism is a prominent school, so it is tested separately.

There is also an exam mixed with French and Chinese soldiers, a total of two.

The imperial examination is divided into three times. The provincial examination and the palace examination are the inheritance of the previous system. It is the expectation of many scholars day and night. Being an official in the imperial court is also related to their practice.

No one does not want to be named on the gold list. Zhong Yunyi also passed three exams at the beginning, and finally became a Jinshi, and has been a censor Zhongcheng.

It was obvious that the young man was also trying to gain fame, and now he was thinking hard about the principles contained in the classics. When he heard Lin Shou's question, he came over and listened.

Lin Shou had also read the Four Books and Five Classics, mainly because the old Taoist priests had quite a collection of books at that time. Apart from those Taoist collections, they also collected books from all schools of thought.

Life in the Taoist temple was very boring, so Lin Shou read a lot of Confucian Four Books and Five Classics.

Lin Shou has also read military books, and has also been exposed to the thoughts of legalists in this world.

Due to the existence of supernatural power in this world, the schools of thought also have magical abilities, so the scriptures written are different from those on the earth, but the core of spiritual thought is the same after all.

This saying says that if you produce more and consume less, if you produce quickly and consume properly, then the wealth of the country will always be sufficient.

Hearing Lin Shou's question, Zhong Yunyi was stunned for a moment, but he didn't expect that the Taoist priest in front of him was also interested in Confucianism, so he straightened his face and said: "This sentence is that if there are no idlers in the country, then There will be more people who create wealth; if there are no officials in the imperial court, there will be no waste caused by excessive luxury; if you do the right thing in the right season, don't waste people's power at will, and do things according to the season, then the country will accumulate wealth. The speed of wealth will become faster; if you practice within your means and save money, then the country’s finances will become rich; if the country’s finances are sufficient and sufficient to prevent disasters, then the country will be rich, and this is the way to enrich the people and strengthen the country.”

Lin Shou smiled and said: "Mr. Zhong's words are very detailed, but they are also old-fashioned, and there is nothing new."

The young man on the side was a little annoyed. Hearing Zhong Yunyi's answer, he felt enlightened, but Lin Shou's evaluation was clichéd and nothing new, which made him feel unfair, so he spoke out to defend Zhong Yunyi.

"This gentleman has a great talent, and what he said is the right way. How can the Taoist master understand the essence of my Confucianism?"

Zhong Yunyi was not angry, but smiled brightly: "I also feel the same way, which of the princes in the court can't say these words, but who can do it?"

The young man froze for a moment when he heard Zhong Yunyi's words, and complained in his heart, I'll speak for you, why do you still agree with that Taoist priest?

"I have never read poetry and books like Mr. Zhong, and I have more experience as an official in the court. I just speak from what I have seen and heard in the folks." Seeing that Zhong Yunyi was not angry, Lin Shou nodded secretly and said again .

"This... Lin Daochang, but it doesn't matter, we live above the temple, maybe we can't see clearly like Lin Daochang, who is rooted in the people."

Zhong Yunyi thought about it for a while, and it seemed that he had never been among the people, and his family was rich. He studied poetry and books at home since he was a child, and passed the rural examination at the age of 13.

Then he passed the provincial examination and won the first place in the list. He failed the palace examination once and won the title of Tanhua lightly for the second time.

After that, he was an official in the imperial court and never left the capital until today when he returned to the countryside.

"Once upon a time, the Taizu of Daqian sent his troops to the south to set the Ding Ding Qiankun. The world experienced wars and chaos, and finally returned to unity. The more people produce, the more they get, and the more they store. But today, the land is small and the people are numerous, and there are not many land annexers. Although there are more people producing, the wealth of the country is also increasing. Gradually increasing, but people can eat less and less. If people are full all day long, the country will prosper, but if people are not full all day long, the country will decline."

"In a county, [-]% of the arable land is in the hands of gentry, with a population of tens of thousands, and half of them are tenants. It is said that the wealth is kept by the people, but how much money do the people have?"

Zhong Yunyi heard Lin Shou's words and murmured to himself: "There are many who eat, and there are many who eat!"

The former sentence is that the officials are too corrupt, so that the people can’t eat enough, but the latter sentence is expressed by Lin Shou. The land is limited and the population is increasing, which naturally leads to farmers working hard and not being able to eat enough.

The young man at the side was stunned when he heard Lin Shou's rebellious words. He pointed at Lin Shou with trembling fingers and said, "This is also a rebellious statement!"

Zhong Yunyi lowered his head in thought, then raised his head to look into Lin Shou's eyes, and asked, "And what should I do?"

Lin Shou picked up the teacup and drank it down, and said with a smile, "Shouldn't it be the poor Taoist who asked Mr. Zhong what to do?"

Zhong Yunyi wept when he heard the words, and murmured: "What should I do, what can I do? The road is long, and I have exhausted myself but can't reach it. Although my heart is kind, how can everyone's hearts be kind?"

Seeing that Zhong Yunyi fell into confusion and even had a tendency to deny himself, Lin Shou shouted: "The road is long and long, why don't you search up and down, your heart is kind, and you have regretted nine deaths? You read the scriptures of sages, What kind of heart do you have? What kind of nature do you cultivate?"

The sound was like thunder rolling, and suddenly rang in Zhong Yunyi's ear.

Zhong Yunyi's inner world seemed to be tempered by thunder, and Lin Shou's broken drink kept echoing in his ears.

"What kind of heart do you have? What kind of nature do you want to cultivate? What kind of heart do you want to cultivate! What kind of nature do you want to cultivate!"

The road is long and long, why not search up and down, what is good in your heart, have you ever regretted nine deaths? This sentence flashed across Zhong Yunyi's inner world like lightning and thunder.

The second realm of Confucianism, the Great Confucian Mirror, contains a world of poems and books, in which everything learned and thought in this life is recorded, and the endless aura of grandeur reverberates in the world.

The knowledge Zhong Yunyi had learned was constantly rolling in the world, and then Lin Shou's words broke in suddenly, and the world changed drastically.

The turbulent righteousness turned into substance in Zhong Yunyi's body, and he woke up suddenly and raised his head.

Pointing to the sky, Zhong Yunyi's eyes are bright, and the Confucian robe on his body is fluttering: "My heart is the heart of heaven, my nature is my nature, and my life is my destiny! Keep my heart, cultivate my nature, practice my life, that's all!"

There was a thunder in the dry sky, and Zhong Yunyi's arrogance burst out suddenly, but there was nowhere to vent it.

Lin Shou laughed, and twisted into a formula in his hands, and the turbulent arrogance and righteousness suddenly had a source to vent, and they all merged into it.

Zhong Yunyi closed his eyes tightly, but his inner world has undergone tremendous changes, as if he is opening up the world.

In the daytime, Wenqu Xing appeared in the world, blooming with supreme light comparable to the sun.

In the distant capital, all the officials looked at the stars in the sky with indescribable envy.

"Someone has entered the third realm of Confucianism and Taoism!"

In the palace, the emperor smashed his favorite jade fou.

The young man next to Zhong Yunyi's jaw almost dropped in surprise, he didn't even grasp the righteousness, and the fluctuations in the ordinary middle-aged man in front of him were clearly the movement of a Confucian monk entering the third realm.

Lin Shou smiled brightly, and his awe-inspiring righteousness was refined, and the taste was much better than the power of ghosts and spirits.
