Chapter 1198 Far East Personnel

Chapter 1198 Far East Personnel
On the same day that Australian personnel arrived in Dar es Salaam, official and civilian personnel from the Far Eastern Empire government also arrived here smoothly.

"That should be the beacon of civilization! I heard it is the landmark building of Dar es Salaam. We should have arrived at our destination."

"Is this the city of Dar es Salaam? It really is the most powerful country on the Indian Ocean coast."

"Just by looking at the outline of this city from a distance, you can tell that this East African country is remarkable. I heard that Mombasa is not far from Dar es Salaam."

After getting off the ship, the Far Eastern Empire staff expressed their admiration all the way. It can be said that Dar es Salaam is the most developed city they have encountered along the way.

Although there are some large cities in Southeast Asia and India, their urban construction is quite chaotic and slums are rampant, which is obviously not the case with Dar es Salaam.

The entire urban area is a mixture of modern and traditional buildings, the planning is orderly, everyone is energetic, the market is very active, and the city's rules and regulations operate smoothly, which is completely different from other countries in the Indian Ocean and even the Far East.

Many citizens of the Far Eastern Empire came to East Africa for the first time. However, compared with the Chinese immigrants who were "tricked" by East Africa more than 50 years ago and squeezed in the cabin like sardines, the Far Eastern Empire would naturally not understand the country of East Africa as "barbarians on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean" this time.

After the South African War, East Africa naturally became a country with a strong influence in the international status. Therefore, starting in 1890, many people with lofty ideals from the Far Eastern Empire went to East Africa to learn.

However, Ernst did not advocate this approach at that time. Although East Africa had defeated Britain more than 20 years ago and seemed to be not to be underestimated, on the African continent it was just a situation where there was no tiger in the mountain and the monkey became king.

At that time, East Africa's economic situation was not even close to that of Japan, and its industrial scale was only slightly stronger than that of the Far Eastern Empire. A large amount of land in the country had not been effectively developed.

Although the industry has developed to a certain scale, the technological content is not high. Apart from the defense industry which has laid a preliminary foundation, there are almost no mid-to-high-end industries. A large amount of technology comes from Europe or the Hezbollah Consortium. It is a typical "copycat industrial country."

So, at that time, you could learn almost nothing by coming to East Africa. From an institutional perspective, East Africa was a backward and conservative feudal monarchy. From an ideological perspective, East Africa was even more of a desert of progressive ideas. From an economic perspective, East Africa, which was dominated by a non-free market at the time, was far less economically active than European and American countries.

So apart from military affairs, there was almost not much to learn from East Africa at that time, and the cost-effectiveness of studying in East Africa was far less than studying in Europe and the United States at that time.

Therefore, the East African government did not support the Far Eastern Empire government at that time to send people to East Africa to study. Instead, it recommended that they go to Germany or the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

After all, the Far Eastern Empire government at that time was still the Qing government, also a feudal monarchy. They did not object to their people going to East Africa to study, but they did not expect that the East African government would refuse.

This situation did not change until the beginning of this century. Starting in 1901, the East African government officially recruited the first batch of students from the Far East Empire. At that time, East Africa's industries had already begun to take shape, and industries such as electricity and machinery had certain advantages. Science and technology had made great progress, and the results in the field of education were also very outstanding. A number of high-quality universities had been built.

At that time, the First Five-Year Plan of East Africa was being implemented, and the economy and industry of East Africa entered the fast lane of development, with railways, roads, cities, etc. developing rapidly.

Entering East Africa at this time is the time to truly learn a lot of "progressive" things, take East Africa's "Five-Year Plan" for example.

This industrial development model, which is very different from that of European and American countries, can obviously bring different thinking to the people of the Far East Empire and break the "free market theory" in the industrial development model. It turns out that industry can also achieve great development without relying on free market competition. After all, the industrial development of East Africa is a typical case.

At the same time, East Africa’s fully planned economic design system is also an institutional innovation. Although East Africa also had a planned economy in the last century, it was not convincing because of the low quality of its economic level.

At the beginning of this century, the situation was obviously different. East African industry had developed to a level that could not be ignored. At that time, East African industry was basically the same as many late-developing medium-level industrial countries. Perhaps this development still could not attract the attention of European and American countries, but it was completely different from the slow-developing Far Eastern Empire. In terms of East African industry and education, there were many things that the Far Eastern Empire could learn from.

Therefore, in 1900, after the East African government officially opened the channel for overseas students from the Far East Empire, a large number of Chinese flocked to East Africa to study.

By 1915, the total number of students from the Far Eastern Empire studying in East Africa had reached more than . This number was second only to the number of students studying in Japan among the students from the Far Eastern Empire. After all, Japan had the advantage of distance from the Far Eastern Empire.

One of the important reasons why there are so many international students from East Africa is that the distance is moderate, there is cultural relevance, there are not many differences in diet, etc.

Among the students studying in East Africa from the Far Eastern Empire, there is no doubt that the Huaihai Economic Zone and the Zhuhai Special Economic Zone account for the majority, with almost 60% of the people coming from these two places. East Africa is the preferred study abroad destination for the children of the upper classes in the two places, and East Africa will also organize relevant examinations to draw talents from these two places.

The Far Eastern Empire's exhibitors were received by its overseas students in Dar es Salaam.

There are more than 600 Far Eastern Empire students studying in Dar es Salaam, which is second only to Mombasa.

Wang Hailong, president of the Far East Empire Study Abroad Association of Dar es Salaam University of Technology and also a student of Dar es Salaam University of Technology, volunteered to participate in this event.

"Director Zhang, I didn't expect that the government would send you to East Africa to participate in the East African World Expo?" Wang Hailong said excitedly.

Director Zhang: "I resigned in April this year, so I am at most an idler, not worthy of the title of Director. This time I came to East Africa mainly to relax. After all, I have dealt with many East African businessmen, but I have never been to East Africa, so I am very curious."

Wang Hailong: "You are too polite, Chief Zhang. You are a famous figure, and you are still as skilled as ever. I believe that this trip to East Africa will satisfy you."

There is no doubt that Chief Zhang was once a big figure in the Far Eastern Empire government and was quite famous within the Far Eastern Empire, so Wang Hailong respected this old man very much.

However, Chief Zhang’s age is a big problem after all, and the journey across the ocean is bumpy, so Wang Hailong dared not be careless.

"Director, please get in the car. This is a convoy arranged by the East African government. As a big country, East Africa has made a lot of preparations. There is no need to worry about the cost of this World Expo. Most of the funds are provided by the East African government."

Although the Far Eastern Empire is not the focus of the East African government's strategy this time, its corresponding specifications are not much worse than those of Brazil, India, Australia, Argentina and the like. During the exhibition, the food, accommodation and vehicles for official personnel are provided by the East African government.

Director Zhang looked at the Alto car in front of him with complicated feelings, because his car in the Far East was also an Alto. As we all know, the automobile industry is East Africa's strong point, and now he has finally arrived in this world-class industrial power to "learn from it."

Officials from the Far Eastern Empire got into their cars and began to tour the city of Dar es Salaam. Dar es Salaam, one of the most developed cities in the world, obviously had a great impact on everyone in the Far Eastern Empire.

Although the number of skyscrapers in East Africa is far less exaggerated than that in the United States, the contrast between high-rise buildings and low buildings in Dar es Salaam is more impactful. Coupled with the exaggerated number of cars and powerful infrastructure in Dar es Salaam, it is even more dazzling. It seems that everyone is living in a different world. Even the most developed city in the Far East Empire today has a huge gap with Dar es Salaam.
