Chapter 1229 Flowers bloom together

Chapter 1229 A hundred flowers bloom
Of course, excavators appeared in East Africa much earlier, but the quality of early products was really poor, and naturally there was no need for large-scale promotion.

Of course, there are also excavators in use in other parts of the world, but they are all mechanical excavators, which are big and clumsy and are generally used in mines. Mechanical excavators are also used in some mines in East Africa, the most typical of which are coal mines.

The flexibility of mechanical excavators is far inferior to that of hydraulic excavators, especially the flexibility of the bucket, which can often only perform simple up and down reciprocating movements.

Hydraulic excavators are very flexible, thanks to the rich experience accumulated in tractor and tank manufacturing in East Africa.

The emergence of hydraulic excavators can be said to have changed the model of infrastructure construction in East Africa, and this was also a major feature of the construction of Port Bell.

Of course, the application of hydraulic systems in East Africa is obviously not limited to this. Installing it on trucks can realize the unloading of transport vehicles, especially in the transportation of earth, grain, stone and other items, greatly improving the loading and unloading efficiency.

This is vividly reflected in the construction of Bell Harbor.

After Robcotts finished his speech, the workers at Bell Harbor began their respective performances.

The first step is to drain the lake water. East African workers have enclosed the construction area with a dike, and then high-power pumps will be used to drain the lake water within the dike.

Then, under the guidance of the commander, the excavator entered the site and began to dig out the silt one shovel at a time, followed by the transport vehicle entering the site.

Excavators dump silt and normal soil into the beds of vehicles, which then haul the soil away.

Looking at the busy construction site, Robcotts couldn't help but sigh: "I can't believe that in just a few years, the mode of construction has changed dramatically."

"I still remember more than 20 years ago, when I just graduated from school, we didn't have the conditions we have now."

"All the construction work basically relied on people to carry things on their shoulders or hands, but now an excavator can dig away in a short time what used to take several people several minutes to dig. For silt geology like this, manual labor is even more difficult."

"In the past, when digging out silt, most of it would slip away with just one shovel, making it very inefficient. The aquatic plants at the bottom of the lake were even harder to clean."

"With an excavator, the water, mud and aquatic plants are all removed with one shovel. This is the real aesthetic of violence."

A student of Robcotts said, "Times are changing so fast. Since the 20th century, East Africa has changed every day. When I was a child, there were not so many cars and mechanical equipment as there are now."

"It seems that after the completion of the Second Five-Year Plan, East Africa has become very different from other industrial countries. Whether it is electricity, internal combustion machinery, household appliances, or automobiles, the empire has entered a period of explosive growth."

"In the 19th century, we were at best at the forefront of the world in these areas, with countries like the United States and Germany keeping pace with us. Now, we are already far ahead in these emerging industries."

Although East Africa started to develop emerging industries such as internal combustion engines and electricity relatively early, it did not really take off until the 20th century.

After all, in the last century, East Africa's foundation was far inferior to that of the old industrial powers in Europe and the United States. However, after entering the 20th century, East Africa entered an industrial transformation, and the focus of economic development completely shifted from agriculture to industry, and the situation quickly changed.

First, the educational investment in the last century entered the period of fruitful results, and a large number of qualified industrial workers and scientific researchers emerged. Secondly, the original accumulation was sufficient, and East Africa had strong financial resources. Finally, the policy and strategic layout. The two five-year plans allowed East Africa to formally become one of the world's top industrial powers, and the industries that had been previously laid out also entered a period of explosive growth in conjunction with the improvement of East Africa's production efficiency.

Robcotts said: "The Empire is in a period of rapid development. Now the European countries are fighting each other. After the war, the world pattern will probably undergo a major change. When the war is over, I am afraid that only then will European countries realize that the world has completely changed."

"But these are not issues we should consider. The most important thing for us now is to complete the renovation and expansion of Bell Port." "If the renovation and expansion of Bell Port goes smoothly, it will add more content to our resume and experience. You should also learn more and accumulate some practical experience this time."

“Although Port Bell has received national attention, before that, the most important port in the entire Great Lakes region was still the Port of Kisumu. I just don’t know if Northern Great Lakes Province can make a comeback under the Great Lakes Economic Belt policy this time.”

There are many cities around the Great Lakes Region, and the most famous ones are Kisumu, Mwanza, Kampala and Kagera.

Kisumu belongs to the Prussian province and was located in Kenya in the previous life. The reason why Kisumu was able to surpass a number of port cities in the Great Lakes region and become the largest city in the region.

This is mainly due to the geographical location of Kisumu City. Kisumu is the intermediate node connecting the Great Lakes and Mombasa railways. It can be said that in the past, most of the cargo and passenger transportation in the Great Lakes region must pass through Kisumu City.

Moreover, Kisumu is located in the east, close to major cities such as Mombasa and Nairobi, which also facilitates industrial and technological contact and accumulation.

The Northern Great Lakes Province was naturally unwilling to lag behind. After all, apart from the shortcoming of sea transportation, the basic conditions of the Great Lakes Province were much stronger than those of the Prussian Province.

However, the cities in the Northern Great Lakes Province cannot even compare with Nairobi, let alone Kisumu, the second largest city in the Prussian Province. This is a bit unreasonable.

In recent years, as Nairobi's status has declined, the Northern Great Lakes Province has seen an opportunity to surpass the Prussian Province.

In the past, the confidence of the Northern Great Lakes Province lay in the development of Lake Albert's oil resources and the rich reserves of other minerals in the province, which were not comparable to the Province of Prussia.

The national canal plan, railway and road construction, etc., have made the Northern Great Lakes Province no longer the only way to the sea, although in terms of cost, it is still the cheapest way to go to the sea from Mombasa in the east.

Of course, what Northern Great Lakes Province values most is the policy support. With the proposal of the Great Lakes Economic Belt and the implementation of the policy of vigorously developing the Great Lakes region during the "Fourth Five-Year Plan" period in East Africa, it can be said that Northern Great Lakes Province has seen an opportunity.

In order to surpass the Prussian Province, the Northern Great Lakes Province will focus on developing the provincial capital Kampala and the city of Entebbe next to Kampala, thus forming a twin star pattern in the Great Lakes region.

At the same time, we will utilize the oil resources of Lake Albert and the natural gas resources in the province to build an oil, gas and chemical industry cluster in the Northern Great Lakes Province, which is extremely important for the Northern Great Lakes Province.

After all, northern East Africa is relatively short of energy. In the past and now, the world's main energy source is still coal, which has led to the early industrial bases in East Africa being basically distributed in the south, central and coastal areas of East Africa.

Emerging energy sources such as oil and natural gas can be said to be the most prominent energy resources in the Northern Great Lakes Province. With the support of these emerging energy sources, the Northern Great Lakes Province will be able to build a number of emerging industries.

Of course, due to the limitations of arable land and ecological protection, the East African government's arrangement for the Northern Great Lakes Province is to focus on developing medium and large cities in the province and improving land use efficiency.

Therefore, the strategic position of the development of provincial cities such as Kampala and Entebbe in the Northern Great Lakes Province is more prominent.

The distance between Kampala and Entebbe is such that they can actually be regarded as one city. If they develop to the scale of Mbeya or Harare, the two places will inevitably be connected, which means that a new major East African city is likely to rise in the Great Lakes region in the future.

Of course, the Northern Great Lakes Province has its own development strategy, and other provinces are naturally not vegetarians either. The Prussian Province will focus on developing the city of Kisumu, while the Great Lakes Province will develop the cities of Mwanza and Kagera at the same time. Other cities along the entire Great Lakes region also want to get a piece of the pie, and the economic competition in the region is showing a flourishing effect.
