Homecoming from Hogwarts
Chapter 1203: First Day of School
The weather on the first day of the new school year at Hogwarts gave all the students a sense of relief.
Harry, who had gotten used to sleeping in at number 12, Grimmauld Place, yawned, got up with difficulty, and looked out the window. The sky was covered with gloomy clouds and a drizzle covered the mountains and valleys.
In the dormitory, Seamus and Dean had already gotten up and left.
Neville was cleaning himself in the bathroom, while Ron was still sleeping soundly with his blanket.
Which side are the Slytherins on now? What is Draco's real intention? The Wise Magical Creatures Exchange Group will arrive at Hogwarts this Friday and the new meditation class will be launched.
These were the topics they discussed in the common room before going to bed last night, and each one was very worthy of in-depth discussion.
However, Professor Binns, who was in charge of the first and second classes today, would certainly not graciously allow them to be late in the morning just because they stayed up late to discuss these topics.
Harry slowly left the warm but not hot bedding and staggered out of bed.
A gust of wind that blew into the dormitory from the world of drizzling rain made Harry shudder.
He realized that he was sweating all over at night when the temperature was very conducive to sleep.
That dream haunted him like a maggot.
However, Harry had decided not to exaggerate the importance of this dream to anyone.
Many people knew about this dream, but including Professor Brian, it seemed that not many people really took it seriously.
"I'm going to have breakfast first, Harry!"
After cleaning, Neville rushed out of the bathroom. He hurriedly grabbed the schoolbag at the end of the bed, said hello to Harry, and rushed out of the dormitory.
Harry realized he had no time to lose.
He turned around to wake Ron, but Ron woke up first and was rubbing his hazy eyes, yawning and asking,
"Is it time for breakfast, Harry?"
"If we can get to the Great Hall in fifteen minutes, maybe we'll have time for a sandwich, Ron."
Harry said, and rushed to the bathroom.
It took less than five minutes for the two boys to be ready to go.
Harry rushed down the spiral staircase of the boys' dormitory, clipping the watch Professor Brain gave him onto his wrist.
With a leap, Harry and Ron jumped down the stairs one after another and came to the common room.
Several first-year witches ran across the common room in a hurry, rushing towards the portrait of the Fat Lady.
Harry watched them leave with sympathy. These little ones might not realize until they got to the classroom that they had forgotten to wear their school uniforms.
"Hey, Neville, what are you looking at?"
Ron was surprised to find that Neville, who had walked out of the dormitory earlier than them, was standing in front of the notice board in the lounge, leaning forward to carefully observe the notice that seemed to have been posted this morning.
"Oh that's great, Hermione, have you come up with something new?"
Hearing Ron's voice behind him, Neville turned around and said excitedly,
"Count me in, Harry, Ron. Two Galleons a month. It only takes a little time. It's a good deal!"
After seeing the notice clearly, Harry finally understood what Neville was talking about.
"Oh, this efficiency——"
Harry couldn't help but sigh.
After the 'Chat Bar' closed late last night, Hermione had actually finished writing the recruitment notice that Professor Blaine had asked her to do before going to bed.
"--If you are interested in joining, please contact us. Oh, she even added our names, Harry, she didn't even say hello to us!"
Ron kept complaining about Hermione as they rushed to the Great Hall, but when they got down to the entrance hall, Ron realized what was really bad.
In the foyer, on the bulletin board facing all teachers and students in the school was posted the same notice as the one they had just seen in the lounge.
Many students from other houses appeared at the Gryffindor table.
Hannah from Hufflepuff, MacMillan's group, Cedric, Qiu Zhang, Marietta and others were also there.
They all surrounded Hermione, asking questions with great interest.
Hermione herself faced the "harassment" of the crowd with bright eyes and was immersed in it.
"Hey, Harry!" Hermione's situation made Harry and Ron hesitate for a moment. At this time, a tall dark girl with long braids walked out of the crowd watching the announcement in the hall.
Ron was ready to flee from the trouble, but when he saw the girl, he rolled his eyes and stayed.
"Oh, Angelina, hello—"
Harry said.
"Hello. And Ron -"
Angelina said briskly,
"How was your summer? It must have been exciting. I heard you made it through the trial safely--"
Without waiting for an answer, she continued,
"You see, I've been chosen captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team."
"Really? That's great."
Harry grinned at her, congratulating her wholeheartedly.
Oliver Wood was the captain of Gryffindor's previous Quidditch team. He was undoubtedly an excellent captain, but sometimes he was too harsh.
Harry also realized that he had not been on the Quidditch field for a year. This was simply unimaginable!
"Oh, by the way, Oliver has graduated, and we need a new goalkeeper. The tryouts will be held this Sunday at 5pm, and I hope all the players can be there, okay? This way we can see if the new guy can cooperate well with everyone!"
"Ok."
Harry nodded happily.
Angelina smiled at him and left.
'New goalkeeper'
Ron stared at Angelina's back with a hesitant expression.
“I wonder who it could be?”
"It's hard to say now. But I heard that there are several outstanding juniors. Vicky Frobisher and Jeffrey Hooper are both good flyers. Who knows? It depends on their performance on the field. Some people have a good foundation, but they can't perform well on the field--"
Harry said with a shrug, not noticing Ron's sudden blush.
Because they were chosen to register without prior notice, Ron and Hermione had a few words at breakfast, which further deepened their bad mood due to the gloomy weather and the fact that they had not yet fully adjusted to their daily routine.
There was also an advantage to having History of Magic as the first two classes of the day.
That is, you can legitimately doze off in class without worrying about being put in confinement by the professor.
Less than five minutes into the class, Harry was already falling asleep.
Although he tried his best to show the class attitude that an OWLS candidate should have, the drawling tone of Professor Binns when he talked about the giant war was too powerful. Even if he could escape from Voldemort again and again, he could not resist Professor Binns' hypnosis.
On the first day of class, most people were not in the right state of mind.
Ron, who was not troubled by nightmares, was not as distressed as Harry, but during the entire one and a half hour class, except for the first ten minutes, Ron and Neville had been playing the hangman game on a corner of his parchment.
The only one who stayed focused throughout the class was Hermione. From time to time, she glared at Ron out of the corner of her eye, hoping to make him realize that he was shouldering the glorious position of prefect, but from beginning to end, she failed to attract Ron's attention.
"What will happen if I don't lend you my notes this year?"
Hermione asked them coldly as they left the classroom for break.
"Your conscience will be troubled, Hermione -"
Ron responded with a grin.
As they crossed the wet courtyard, several first-year Ravenclaws gathered around them and timidly asked Hermione if they were eligible to join her Society for the Rights of Intelligent Magical Creatures.
This greatly encouraged Hermione. She immediately took out a few pieces of parchment from her bag to register their information and educate them on the obligations of being a member of the association.
"When are you going to realize that they are only interested in joining the association to make some pocket money for themselves?"
Ron, who had been shivering in the cold wind and drizzle for a while, rolled his eyes at Hermione who was happily stuffing the registration form back into her schoolbag.
But Hermione shrugged off Ron's sarcasm and strode across the courtyard towards the back door of the Great Hall.
"Come on, Ron—"
Harry said, with more anticipation than he had ever felt in his four years at Hogwarts.
"Let's go to Professor Slughorn's Potions class!" (End of this chapter)
