Homecoming from Hogwarts
Chapter 1208 Ancient Skills
The students started to stir, whispering their dissatisfaction with Professor Lahansen's statement.
"It sounds really mysterious, doesn't it?"
Finch-Fletchley, who was beside Harry, crossed his arms and said with distrust.
"If you think we can't master the advanced knowledge of this course, why does the school offer this course, Professor Lahansen?"
Harry's teammate on the Gryffindor team, Katie Bell, raised her hand and asked.
"That's a good question, Miss Bell—"
Professor Lahansen called out Katie's last name accurately, and it seemed that he had put in some effort before the class started.
"Meditation class - let's call it that -"
Frommid paces the seedling field,
"In fact, you may not know that it was Professor Blaine who invited me to teach this course at Hogwarts.
Although I am very happy to pass on this ancient heritage to you energetic young people, I actually mentioned to Professor Brian the question you just asked me. This course requires people who study it to have some very special qualities. Even if I am willing to teach it, I am afraid that there are not many people who can really master it. "
"What did Professor Blaine say?"
Ernie asked anxiously from Harry's other side.
"After listening to my relatively complete description of this course, Professor Brian still insisted that I offer this course--"
Professor Larsen said:
"He believes that this is a very practical course for wizards. Even if you cannot master advanced knowledge, every bit of progress in learning this course can greatly benefit yourself and improve your strength."
Improve your strength?
Some people who were originally hesitant immediately perked up.
The fact that a great magician of Professor Brian's level could give such an evaluation of the meditation class undoubtedly shows that this course does have some tricks.
At least it's more interesting than those abstract magical subjects like divination, Muggle studies, and astronomy.
Even Malfoy, who was full of thoughts, opened his eyes wide.
Frommid was touched by the completely different attitudes of the little wizards before and after.
This shows Brian's status in the wizarding world!
"Does anyone else need my help with a question?"
Professor Larsen asked again.
"Professor Lahansen, what are these tree seedlings?"
This is a question from Cedric.
"They are young oak trees, Mr Diggory—"
Professor Lahansen said calmly,
"Oak - In Germany, our ancient heritage is special. Oak is not a magical plant, but it has good magical compatibility. It is a good material for making magic wands. In addition, its soul is very active, surpassing the magical plants you are familiar with. Therefore, it is easier for us to perceive its thoughts."
"Soul. Thoughts?"
Cedric asked in confusion.
"Professor Lahanson, oak trees are just plants, right? I thought only humans or animals had souls and thoughts?"
"I don't see it the same way as you, Mr. Diggory—"
Professor Lahansen said gently,
"Everything in the world, all living species, has a soul, including every blade of grass and every tree. Of course, this view may be beyond your common sense, but if you want to learn more, you must accept this view and treat all living things equally from the bottom of your heart--"
Treat everyone equally?
Harry grinned, and he seemed to have a rough idea of what the threshold Professor Lahansen was talking about was.
Not to mention treating all lives equally, many people in Slytherin even rank wizards based on their bloodline.
"so--"
This was a course that was completely beyond the wizarding knowledge system. Hermione struggled to understand it.
"We need to interact with these oak saplings. Um, sense their thoughts?"
"You are very clever, Miss Granger—"
Professor Larsen smiled and said,
"However, that is something you need to practice later. Before that, we still need to reach some state."
Another strange description, Harry thought. However, Professor Larsen did not explain immediately. He clapped his hands a few times, signaling the students to be quiet.
"I have prepared some futons at the back of the house. Can the prefects please carry them over and distribute them to all the students--"
The commotion lasted for about twenty minutes, until the pale golden rays of light formed mottled shadows on their bodies, and everyone finally got a hard cushion woven with dead vines.
Professor Lahansen clapped his hands again.
"Now, I ask you all to sit down, anywhere you want, as long as you can hear me--" There was another commotion, and no one stepped into Professor Lahansen's seedling plot. Most people sat in a row around the seedling plot.
Several Hufflepuff students went to sit on the terrace in front of the cabin and Professor Larsen didn't mind, but he stopped Fred and George from climbing onto his roof.
Ron wanted to join Harry and the others, but unfortunately he was tied up by Lavender.
And Harry moved in behind Hermione and Ginny.
"Why can't we get some soft cushions?"
Ginny grumbled softly, and although reluctantly, she still stuffed the rattan mat under her butt, because it at least could isolate the moisture from the ground.
Harry suddenly had the urge to ask Ginny to sit on his lap, but this crazy idea scared him and he slapped himself unexpectedly!
"What are you doing, Harry?"
The two girls in front of him turned around and looked at him in surprise. Hermione asked in surprise.
"Oh, nothing, Hermione—"
Harry was thankful that it was too dark for them to see his face, which was red with shame.
“There are mosquitoes in the woods.”
Harry explained quietly.
The students sat down and looked at Professor Lahansen expectantly.
"Now, I need everyone to remain calm—"
Professor Larhanson said.
Keep calm?
The young wizards looked at Professor Lahansen in confusion.
"To achieve inner peace, the first thing you need to do is to clear your mind of all thoughts. Don't think about anything, and let the magic in your body calm down--"
To stabilize the magic power in the body?
Harry frowned unconsciously.
Magic power flows naturally like the blood in the body. Controlling magic power is a skill that Hogwarts has never taught.
"How to do it, Professor?"
Malfoy asked a little impatiently.
"Perhaps you don't realize that magic can be controlled by the mind--"
Professor Larsen did not mind Malfoy's disrespectful tone and gave advice in a calm tone.
"If you don't understand, think about the chaotic feeling before you go to bed every night. I mean, before you fall asleep, your thoughts are cleared. In that state, you are calm, and your magic is stable--"
There are many people scratching their heads.
Hermione also looked embarrassed.
Among all the courses at Hogwarts, even including Professor Blaine's physical education class, there has never been such an abstract course!
"Let your mind and magic power completely calm down. This is the first step in meditation class that you need to master—"
Professor Lahansen said calmly,
"Don't underestimate how difficult this is. I dare say that maybe by the end of the school year, many people won't be able to do this."
Don't think about anything, clear your mind, just like you would before going to sleep.
It sounds simple, but when Harry actually tried to do it, he realized how difficult it was!
Harry tried hard to clear his mind, but he soon realized that the thought of clearing his mind was itself a distraction!
Professor Lahansen's request is equivalent to letting them fall asleep while keeping their consciousness awake, which is simply a paradox!
Many people, including Harry, closed their eyes.
But in the empty darkness, some images would always pop up from time to time.
The corridors and doors in his dreams, Malfoy's strange behavior, Sirius's recent situation, what Voldemort was doing recently, Professor Brain's face, and
After the surroundings became quiet, the aroma that rushed into the nostrils became particularly strong!
Damn it, Harry, what on earth were you thinking, Ginny is Ron's sister!
Harry cursed himself, but the image of Ginny wearing a matcha green nightgown every day at 12 Grimmauld Place during the summer vacation, with her hair loose and her white and delicate skin as white as silk, was deeply rooted in his mind.
He was so busy trying to get rid of this shameful thought that he didn't realize his heart was becoming increasingly restless.
Snore, snore--
Suddenly, a thunderous snoring sound was heard in the woods, where only the sounds of insects and birds were heard.
Harry opened his eyes immediately and looked.
"Ah, Mr. Crabbe and Mr. Goyle—"
Professor Lahansen looked at the two big guys leaning against a tree stump and said with a wry smile,
"Already asleep." (End of this chapter)
