Homecoming from Hogwarts

Chapter 984: Targeting Yourself

After making his guess, Lucius carefully looked at Amosta Blaine's expression.

Anyone who is not a hopeless idiot can figure out the reason why the Dark Lord attacked Azkaban. Basically, his most loyal and elite Death Eaters were imprisoned in that prison!
And if the Dark Lord successfully finds a channel to Azkaban and rescues the most evil Death Eaters, the impact will be far-reaching.

Needless to say, the Ministry of Magic would lose face and the British wizarding world would immediately fall into turmoil. It could even be said that this was equivalent to the Dark Lord announcing his return to the world and sounding the clarion call for the charge.

According to previous predictions, Amosta Brian would be furious after hearing the news, or at least nervous.

Amos Towers Brain might not care about the authority of the Ministry of Magic being trampled upon, but he certainly didn't want to see the order of the wizarding world become a mess.

But the reality was completely different from what he expected. Amosta Brian did not show the slightest sign of nervousness. He just leaned calmly on the sofa, twirling his thumbs rhythmically.

"A reasonable guess—"

Amosta nodded slightly, confirming what Lucius said.

"You're not going to stop it?"

Amosta's reaction caught Lucius off guard. He asked in astonishment, but then, Amosta Braine's deep and bottomless gaze made Lucius tremble in his heart, and he subconsciously lowered his head.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Blaine, I shouldn't have overstepped my authority."

"It's okay, Lucius. I'm not the Dark Lord who wants to take people's lives at will."

Amosta's tone was calm and peaceful.

"But you have to understand that knowing too much is not a good thing for your current identity."

Lucius nodded with a dejected look on his face.

Three months ago, he was the patriarch of the glorious Malfoy family and a well-known business tycoon in the British and even European wizarding circles. But after the resurrection of the Dark Lord, he even had to work as a spy to barely survive.

The Dark Lord was never a generous wizard, and Lucius was not naive enough to think that he could just let it go after destroying the Dark Lord's treasure. The Dark Lord spared his life because he was still of use, especially since he had not yet gathered his team.

If all the Death Eaters imprisoned in Azkaban were rescued, the Dark Lord would have more options. It would be hard to say whether the Dark Lord would take the lives of his family directly, or torture them to please himself and then let the Malfoy family die.

Anyway, it's going to end in the end.

The general information had been given. Lucius looked at Brian anxiously, not knowing whether Brian was satisfied with the information he had provided. Moreover, Brian would also assign him some tasks. Hopefully, they were not those that would lead to his own death.

Digesting the information brought by Lucius, the most valuable of them was undoubtedly Voldemort's attitude towards his entry into Salazar Slatlin's vault.

Voldemort showed legitimate concern, but beyond that, his nervousness undoubtedly further confirmed what he and Dumbledore had suspected.

"Voldemort in Gringotts"

Amosta asked suddenly, but he stopped talking halfway, thought for a moment, and then asked again,
"Back then. I mean, when Voldemort was last active, who were his most trusted Death Eaters besides you, Lucius?"

Most trusted Death Eater?

If it were more than a decade ago, Lucius would have proudly said that he was the Dark Lord's most trusted person. Of course, he would also reluctantly name a few colleagues who had received similar favors as him, but now, Lucius just wanted to smile bitterly.

"From what I have observed, Mr. Braine, the Dark Lord does not trust anyone, Mr. Braine--"

Lucius's expression was bitter, and his voice was slightly hoarse.

"He only trusts himself, of course. If you insist on an answer, then I think--"

Taking a deep breath, Lucius continued

"He trusted Severus, the Lestranges, the Carrows, Evan Rosier. In short, probably all those imprisoned in Azkaban."

"Well--"

Amosta nodded and fell silent again.

If Voldemort really entrusted his other Horcrux to a Death Eater other than Lucius, and that Death Eater put Voldemort's Horcrux into the vault of Gringotts, then, unless he got the correct answer, he would have to check these vaults one by one. And if he really did that, first of all, not to mention that it would cause great trouble to old Bana, and secondly, if Voldemort did it so ostentatiously, he would definitely expect that he and Dumbledore already knew about his making of Horcruxes, which would be very unfavorable for finding the next few Horcruxes.

But this thing must be done, but it requires a reasonable excuse.

Even if Voldemort knew that he had forced open the vault, he would not have thought that it was aimed at his Horcruxes.

"There is something I need your assistance with, Lucius—"

coming!

When the long silence made Lucius flustered, Amosta finally spoke. When Lucius heard this, he felt a chill in his heart, but also felt relieved.

Since Brian was willing to order him to do things, this proved at least two things. First, at least in Brian's eyes, he was valuable. Second, this at least proved that Brian had a certain degree of trust in him.

It is a bit sad to say that the patriarch of the Malfoy family feels gratified because he is worth being used, but the situation in the wizarding world is so cruel now.

When the Dark Lord returns to the wizarding world and decides to ignite the war again, thousands of wizards will become victims of the war, and only a few wizards can become the chess players.

And although Brian's attitude towards him was not so polite, Lucius could feel that Brian did not treat him as a slave.

"It is my pleasure to be of service to you, Mr. Blaine—"

Lucius was about to stand up, but Amosta raised his hand slightly and immediately exerted a strong force to press Lucius down on the sofa.

"There is one thing--"

Amosta put down his raised hand and said calmly,
"Since the position of professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts has been vacant for several months, Fudge has recommended to Headmaster Dumbledore his right-hand man, Dolores Umbridge, to teach this course at Hogwarts—"

Fudge asked Umbridge to be the professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts?

Lucius was stunned at first, then his eyes twitched and he blurted out,

"You mean to say that the Ministry of Magic is trying to interfere with Hogwarts?"

"It's obvious, isn't it?"

Amosta smiled.

"What do you want me to do?"

Lucius became cautious. He looked at Amosta carefully.

"If you want me to use the influence of the Malfoy family to interfere with Fudge's decision, I'm afraid this will not be easy. Moreover, if the Dark Lord knew about this, I'm afraid he would be happy to see the Ministry of Magic in conflict with you."

"Yes, Voldemort would certainly be pleased to see this happen, so--"

Amosta smiled meaningfully.

"I want you to take the initiative to report this matter to Voldemort and convince him to let you help Cornelius Fudge and add fuel to the fire in this matter. He will definitely agree."

As Amosta continued his story, Lucius's confused expression gradually turned into one of surprise and doubt.

Is Brian crazy? Is he driving himself to death?!

"Why would you ask me to do this, Mr. Blaine?"

Finally, Lucius couldn't help but ask,
"You know that if I do this and cooperate with the Ministry of Magic to force Hogwarts, then Hogwarts will be finished and you will not be able to hold on!"
