Chapter 19
After eating the crispy peach pie, Ethan followed the scent to another booth.
Looking at the meat pies that were being grilled before his eyes, Ethan suddenly felt that the pie he had just eaten was not delicious at all.
"Ethan, do you need a burger?"
"Okay, thanks, I want a double patty."
Ethan replied subconsciously, turned around, and Proctor was standing behind him.
"this is yours?"
Ethan took the oversized burger handed over by the staff and pointed to the booth.
"Of course, as a businessman with a good reputation in the town, I really enjoy participating in some local celebrations. In these two days, all the products sold by Proctor will be discounted by [-]."
"By the way, your burger is mine." Proctor blinked at him.
"Then I won't be polite." Ethan took a bite of the thick burger. The charcoal-grilled beef was fragrant, the cheese was full, the vegetables were fresh, and the bread was soft, which made him nod repeatedly.
Walking around while eating a burger, I also saw the Davis bar booth on the way, but the candy was not on the booth.
Crossing a street, I saw Siobhan standing on the corner, giving directions to a few tourists.
He crumpled up the paper bag, threw it in the trash, bought two bottles of apple juice from a nearby stand, and headed towards Siobhan.
Siobhan smiled at Ethan and turned sideways inadvertently. Suddenly, her expression changed, her figure flashed, and she disappeared into the corner of the wall.
Ethan felt something was wrong and quickly dropped the apple juice.
"Police, put the gun down," Siobhan's voice came, followed by a gunshot.
Hearing the gunshot, Ethan quickly dialed the Glock.
Turning the corner, Siobhan stood in shock, pointing a gun with both hands at a small alley. At the end of the street, a bikie wearing glasses and a leather jacket was looking at her viciously.
"Siobhan, take care, policeman, hold still."
Ethan yelled, and quickly chased after him, but unfortunately the distance was too far. When he ran to the end of the street, several Harley motorcycles frantically twisted the accelerator, let out bursts of roar, and quickly fled the scene.
Seeing that they had already run away, Ethan had no choice but to put the Glock back into the gun pocket, and returned to the scene of the crime with Siobhan.
In the alley, Candy was lying motionless in a pool of blood, and Carly looked solemnly, carefully examining the wound on his head.
Beside them, a long-haired, flower-armed bikie in a leather jacket was lying on the ground with his head up, his eyes staring blankly at the gray-blue sky, blood was still bleeding from the hole in his head that had been shot by a gun.
"Alma, there is a shooting incident. One person is dead and one is injured. Arrange for an ambulance immediately."
Ethan quickly notified Alma of the location of the crime by radio, Siobhan next to him was holding his pistol nervously, and looked back at the entrance of the alley from time to time.
"It's all right, Siobhan, take it easy and give me the gun first."
"I saw a couple of bikers coming out of here. When they came, the candy had fallen to the ground. The man was riding on Mrs. Hopewell with a gun in his hand. I had to shoot."
Siobhan stammered, pointed at the motorcycle party on the ground, then let go of his hand, letting Ethan take the gun away,
Ethan took Siobhan's gun and found that the handle was wet with sweat.
He let Siobhan calm down by himself first, and walked to Carly's side.
Carly glanced at him, then said anxiously: "Candy's head is injured, I don't know if it's serious or not."
"Don't worry, I have called an ambulance and it will be here soon, Mrs. Hopewell, are you injured? Can you tell me what happened?"
"I'm fine. I went back to the car to get a respirator for my son. Several motorcycle gangs surrounded me and took me into the alley."
"Candy passed by outside. He tried to save me. After knocking down two motorcycle gangs, he was attacked by another person with a wooden stick. You know the rest."
"Okay, I'll help you inform Gordon, you take a break."
After confirming that Carly was fine and that Candy's vital signs were basically stable, Ethan returned to Siobhan's side and saw that she had calmed down a lot, so he returned the gun to her.
Siobhan put the gun back into the holster, looked at the corpse on the ground next to him, and said with mixed emotions: "I warned him, but he didn't choose to put the gun down."
Ethan saw that her expression was wrong, so he pulled her out of the alley, "Listen to me, this man is trying to attack a woman with a gun in his hand, and I would do the same thing instead, you are right. "
Not long after, the ambulance and the Banshee Town Police Department also rushed to the scene. Fortunately, Candy regained consciousness soon, but still needed to go to the hospital for observation.
"Do you know these people?" Ethan glanced at Hood who had rushed over, and asked Brock.
"Yes, several local motorcycle gangs have criminal records."
"It's usually wandering around in several nearby towns." Brock put the white cloth back on the corpse. "We catch one or two drunken troublemakers from time to time."
"What do I have to do to find them?" Hood came over angrily.
"If you're referring to how we should find them, we can go back to the police station to issue a nationwide arrest warrant, and ask several nearby police stations to help pay attention to the information."
Brock shook his head and said, "But by the time there is news, they may have fled all the way to Pittsburgh or left Pennsylvania."
After Hood comforted Siobhan a few words, he looked out of the alley with a complicated expression. Carly, Gordon and the two children hugged each other.
He patted Brock's shoulder weakly with his arm, "If you have any news, please let me know, I'll be leaving first."
"Ethan, you send Siobhan back to rest, Emmett stepped up patrol"
Brock clapped his hands, "I'll go back to the police station and issue a nationwide arrest warrant, otherwise, those bastards will run away."
After sending Siobhan home, Ethan stopped fishing and stepped up his patrols. Unfortunately, he didn't know where those people hid and didn't get anything.
The next day, Ethan knew that the motorcycle gang would definitely come back for revenge. After the others left, he didn't rush out to patrol and stayed with Siobhan at the police station.
"How did you feel after you killed Cole last time?" Siobhan asked without raising his head while filling out the accident report.
"Well, it's kind of disgusting, and I don't feel well."
Ethan told some truths, but he was more excited. He didn't want to say this, otherwise people would think he was a pervert.
"You know what? Even though I've been working longer than you, this is the first time I've shot someone."
Siobhan raised his head, pursed his lips and looked at Ethan, "I couldn't sleep yesterday, and the scene at that time always appeared in front of my eyes."
"He was holding a gun and you didn't have any choice."
"I know." Siobhan said blankly, then lowered his head again.
Ethan simply sat on her table. "For some people, killing people is not an easy thing, but you don't question yourself because of this. Think about Carly and Candy. You saved their lives."
"Don't worry, I'm fine." Siobhan nodded and smiled at him.
Ethan stood up and wanted to go to the bathroom, but saw the biker wearing glasses yesterday standing outside the window of the police station, staring at them coldly.
"Fack, Siobhan, be careful." Ethan drew out his gun and chased him out.
