Chapter 38 Drugstore Robbery
After finishing his morning patrol, Ethan stopped the car by the side of the road.

He found a big rock by the lake and sat on it. He took out a chicken rice in soy sauce from the space, and took apart the disposable chopsticks to eat it.

After dinner, return to the police station.

A woman in a denim skirt was standing against the wall, holding a tray of things in her hand.

Ethan closed the car door, and the woman came over.

"Hey, what do you want? I don't want another pile of jam all over my face."

Looking at the pie in Kate Moody's hand, he took two steps back.

"This is apple pie. Are you so timid? Don't worry, I'm here to apologize to you. I did something wrong last time."

Kate chuckled before placing her apple pie on the Crown Victoria's hood.

"Do you have time, let's chat?"

Ethan glanced at Kate. It had been a while since she had seen her. She was in a very good state of mind. He nodded, walked across the street with Kate, and sat down on the bench.

"I don't know what's wrong with you?"

Unexpectedly, after Kate sat down, she didn't say a word, so he had to take the initiative to ask.

"Can you answer me a question honestly, a yes or no question."

"Depending on the situation, I don't know what you want to ask?"

"Did you kill Marcus and Dex?"

Kate stared straight at Ethan, "The two of them have disappeared before, but they usually go home in a week or so. Now they have been missing for a long time. Did you kill them?"

Ethan would never have imagined that Kate would actually ask him such a question.

He smiled, took out a cigarette and lit it

"Do you have any other questions, Mrs. Moody."

"It seems that you really did it, but don't worry, I'm not here to trouble you."

Kate Moody snatched the pack of cigarettes from him unceremoniously and lit one for herself, the smoke rising and filling her face.

"They are really kind to my brother, and they want to kill you to avenge Cole, but they are also beasts. Just after Cole died, they treated me..."

Kate coughed a few times, and continued: "If the two of them are really dead, don't worry, I will thank you, at least I don't have to worry about it all the time, I don't know when those two beasts will suddenly appear in front of me before."

"I sympathize with what happened to you, please forgive me, I have a little work to do."

Ethan stood up and wanted to leave, his footsteps paused, "From now on, you can sleep steadily, things will always get better, won't they?"

After speaking, Ethan strode away, and Kate sat on the bench, exhaling a long breath of smoke, tears streaming from the corners of her eyes.

Grab the apple pie on the hood and walk into the police station.

Siobhan asked curiously: "Is there anything Mrs. Moody wants from you?"

"It's nothing, just some personal matters."

Siobhan let out an "oh" and returned to his desk. Ethan glanced out the window. Kate Moody stood up from the bench, waved to him, and walked away.

Ethan smiled, sat on the chair, stuffed the apple pie into the trash can, turned on the office computer and got busy.

Not long after, Siobhan stretched out his head again, his big eyes blinking.

"Officer Siobhan Kelly, are you done with your work?"

"Tch, it seems that you have something important to tell you a shocking gossip, do you want to listen to it?"

Ethan moved the mouse, turned off the Spider Solitaire, opened the drawer, took out the nuts, and threw a pack of nuts to Siobhan, with a face of listening attentively.

Siobhan gave him a blank look, opened the nut and told the shocking gossip in her mouth.

"Did you know Pastor Ramsay is divorced?"

"Tom Ramsay?"

"Yes, it's him."

Siobhan nodded again and again, "Pastor Ramsay and his wife have always been very affectionate before, and they often participated in church activities together. I don't know why he suddenly divorced Deborah."

Ethan thought of the simple man he saw two days ago, and the neatly trimmed green grass in his home.

"And then?" Ethan picked up a nut and threw it into his mouth.

Siobhan said with a puzzled look:

"I heard that Pastor Ramsay sold his residence and the surrounding land. The Chino tribe wanted to buy the area near him to build a new casino. Pastor Ramsay never agreed to sell it. I don't know why he suddenly I agree."

Ethan raised his eyebrows, Proctor's method is fine.

After gossiping with Siobhan, they went out on patrol.

When the red light came on, Ethan stopped the car and habitually glanced at the vehicle next to him. He accidentally saw Jenny Kendall, who was tapping the steering wheel with her fingers impatiently.

Ethan hadn't seen Jenny Kendall since the last Banshee Festival rescued her.

"Hi, Jenny, long time no see." Ethan rolled down the window.

Jenny Kendall heard someone greet her, turned her head in doubt, and saw that it was Ethan, with a smile on her face, she quickly closed the car window.

"Ethan, are you back? I heard from my husband that you went on vacation."

"Yes, I just came back a few days ago."

"Great. After what happened last time, Dan and I both wanted to invite you to our house to express our gratitude, but we didn't find the opportunity."

"You're welcome, by the way, isn't today Saturday? Where are you going?"

"You know, I work in a school. A few children were detained for study today. I'm going to watch over them."

Jenny Kendall continued: "I'm serious, how about tonight? Let me make you a nice dinner and Dan will be sure to welcome you."

Seeing how enthusiastic she was, Ethan couldn't shirk it, so he had no choice but to agree.

After the green light came on, the two waved goodbye.

Driving down Second Avenue, Alma's urgent voice came over the radio:
"There was a robbery at the Walgreens pharmacy, and civilians were shot. Emmett is chasing the suspect at the scene, so hurry over to support him."

"Received" the voices of Siobhan and Brock sounded one after another.

"Walgreens, isn't it just a street in front of me?" Ethan picked up the radio just as he was about to respond, when a red Camry suddenly popped out from the alley next to him, and quickly backed away.

Before Ethan could react, he was hit hard by the rear of the Camry.

The airbag in the steering wheel exploded with a "bang", and Ethan felt dizzy immediately, and there were bursts of tinnitus.

In a trance, I saw two middle-aged men with white masks running down from the Camry in front, and kept shooting while running away.

Ethan struggled to unbuckle his seat belt, and a black shadow slammed onto the passenger window with a bang.

"Ethan, why are you here? Are you okay? Do you want me to call an ambulance?"

"I'm fine, you hurry to chase someone."

Ethan shook his head, and said helplessly to Emmett who suddenly appeared in front of him.

The hanging heart was also relieved, almost not being scared to death by him.
