Chapter 85 Basement

After Ethan slapped the door a few times, Jonathan shouted:
"Gram, are you home?"

The voice fell, and after waiting for a while, there was still silence around.

"Could it be that no one is at home, how about we go to another place to have a look?" Jonathan walked outside as he spoke.

Ethan had no choice but to follow him away.

Just as the two walked to the old car, there was a silent voice in the house.

"Who is calling me?"

Jonathan stopped quickly and walked back a few steps, "It's me, Jonathan Gaines who lives not far away."

"Is there anything you need?"

Ethan also walked to Jonathan's side. At this moment, the door inside opened, and a hunched man could be seen standing at the door through the screen door.

The room was extremely dark, and the man's face could not be seen clearly, but he could be seen with messy long hair.

After the two of them looked at each other, Jonathan said:
"I'm looking for my niece, she went out for a run this morning and she disappeared and I'm looking everywhere for her."

Jonathan stepped forward "I think she might pass by here, have you seen her?"

"No, I haven't seen anyone."

Graham, who was standing in the shadows, responded dully, and it could be heard from his tone that he was very impatient.

Ethan remembered what Black had said, looked around, and asked:
"Do you have any children here?"

Graham's tone became more serious, "Fuck, has anyone here come to talk to me today? Are you that one again?"

"Sir, Banshee Town Police Station." Ethan said habitually.

"What Banshee Town Police Department, I haven't heard of it, you guys get away from me, I don't like that uniform on you."

Graham finished speaking nervously and was about to close the door.

Jonathan also felt something was wrong, and quickly shouted:

"Hey, can we come in and sit down?"

"I'm busy, so I don't have time to entertain you." Graham flatly refused.

Jonathan insisted "just a minute, I haven't seen you in a long time, how about a conversation between the neighbors."

Graham stopped closing the door, and after a while, he said hoarsely:
"Just wait a minute."

After speaking, his figure disappeared, and footsteps sounded, walking towards the house.

Seeing this, Jonathan breathed a sigh of relief, and winked at Ethan.

After a while, Graham returned to the door, and saw his figure shaking, holding a stick-shaped object in his hand.

Out of professional habits, Ethan immediately rang the alarm.

In the blink of an eye, he reached out and grabbed Jonathan's clothes, and retreated sharply.

At this moment, there was a "bang" gunshot, and a ball of flames spewed out from the screen door.

Jonathan screamed and fell backwards.

Ethan quickly pulled out the Glock 17, and kept pulling the trigger towards the door.

"Bang bang bang."

After a series of gunshots, there was a muffled groan in the room, and Graham's heavy footsteps gradually moved away into the room.

Ethan took the opportunity and pulled Jonathan hard behind the Dodge Challenger.

Jonathan clutched his arm in pain, blood was flowing from it, and the muscles in his upper arm were directly bloody from the shotgun.

If Ethan hadn't reacted quickly enough to pull him, the shot would have directly punched a big hole in his chest.

"Fack, there must be something wrong with this bastard."

Jonathan slammed his head into the body of the Dodge Challenger, hoping to relieve the pain, and roared loudly.

It's a good thing that his own car is not a small day's car, otherwise he must have made a few big holes out of it.

Ethan squatted down, put the gun by his feet, and quickly took out a tourniquet from his duty belt and tied it on him.

"I must go in right now. Black must be inside, otherwise Graham wouldn't have acted like this."

Ethan was talking, but found that Jonathan didn't respond.

After he was shot, he was so nervous that he was in a trance, and his eyeballs were floating around.

In desperation, Ethan raised his arms and slapped him hard.

After a crisp snap, Jonathan's eyes finally settled down.

Ethan grabbed his collar, "Can you hear me clearly now?"

Jonathan was sweating profusely at this moment, and nodded repeatedly.

"Stay here and call for backup. Don't worry, your injury is not fatal. I'm going in to rescue Black. Her life will be in danger at any time."

After Ethan finished speaking, he opened the car door and reached into the storage compartment with his hand.

He took out the Advancer D9 captured when he met Nora for the first time from the space, and he stuffed the sharp dagger into Jonathan's hand, then got up and ran towards the door.

I glanced inside through the broken hole of the screen door, but found nothing.

Ethan opened the screen door, and with a flash, he entered the house.

In the dark room, there are only some simple furniture, and the curtains on the windows completely block the sunlight outside, and there is a depressing rancid smell in the room.

Ethan turned on the tactical flashlight on the Glock, searched around, but did not see Graham.

He went to the kitchen again, looked over the messy wooden table, and saw the unwashed dishes in the sink.

Judging from the tableware inside, if Gram was not too lazy, he should not be the only one living in this place.

Ethan held the Glock, came out of the kitchen again, and carefully searched the house.

But there was no trace of Grimm in the several rooms in the house. He seemed to have disappeared in the house, and the whole house was silent.

At this time, Ethan noticed a few drops of fresh blood on the ground.

This was just now when Gram was shot by himself. Ethan shone the tactical flashlight on the sporadic bloodstains on the ground, and carefully followed the bloodstains in the dark house.

The boots stepped on the old wooden floor, making a creaking sound.

When they came to a corner inside the house, the bloodstains suddenly disappeared.

On the edge of the wooden floor, there is a pull button.

Only then did he come to his senses. It turned out that Gram hid in the basement.

Ethan licked his lips, turned sideways to buckle the zipper, Glock pointed down, and pulled hard with his arm.

"Bang" with a muffled sound.

The slammed basement door slammed into the back wall, kicking up a cloud of dust.

Ethan was taken aback by the movement he made, but the gun was still aimed steadily down.

The long wooden stairs are blocked by a wooden wall, and there are still lights on and off underground.

After the basement door was opened, a rancid smell almost overwhelmed him. It turned out that the unpleasant smell in the house just now came from here.

Looking at the stairs going down, Ethan couldn't help swallowing.

The open basement door smelled like the bloody mouth of a beast, and the flickering lights were reminding him that strangers should not enter.

But thinking that Black might be trapped below, Ethan gritted his teeth and turned off the tactical flashlight on the Glock.

After he exhaled slowly, he walked down step by step.
