Hogwarts: From Squibs to Greatness

Chapter 16 The Dragon Wand

Chapter 16 The Dragon Wand

"That's right, William... John, let's go to Diagon Alley together," Harry said with a smile.

This loveless child can clearly feel John's kindness, so he cherishes such kindness very much, and wants to become good friends with John.

Harry looked at Hagrid expectantly: "Can you, Hagrid"

But unfortunately, Harry didn't see agreement from Hagrid's face, but hesitation on Hagrid's face.

"Sorry, Harry, we can't be with Mr. Williams at the moment"

Hagrid was also full of affection for John, and although he was willing to give Harry's suggestion, Dumbledore's instructions were still more important to him than anything else.

"You know Harry, I'm going to Gringotts first, to do a Hogwarts business for Dumbledore, so..."

John naturally knew what Hagrid didn't say, Harry was trustworthy in Hagrid's heart, just like Dumbledore.

But he was different. Even though Hagrid had a good impression of him, he wasn't good enough to take him with him on the mission Dumbledore gave him.

"It's okay, Harry." John reached out and held down Harry who was still about to say something. "Diagon Alley is that big, we will meet again."

Hearing John say this, Harry swallowed what he wanted to say.

Hagrid also smiled, and looked at John with gratitude in his eyes, if the other party had taken the initiative to persuade Harry, he really couldn't be cruel enough to refuse Harry for the time being.

Then John and Hagrid walked across the bar together into a small courtyard surrounded by walls. There's nothing here but a trash can and some weeds.

But at this moment, Harry didn't wonder why he came here, but kept looking at Tom who was following John.

"He's Tom, the house-elf," came John's voice.

Harry looked at John: "House-elf?"

"They are a race dedicated to wizards." Hagrid's voice came, "Hogwarts also has house elves."

"Count up to three dollars... and count down to two dollars..." Hagrid muttered in a low voice at first, and then his voice became louder again. "Okay, we found it, step back children"

John and Harry backed away, and then they saw Hagrid take out a small pink umbrella from his pocket. He held the handle and tapped three times on a brick on the wall with the head of the umbrella.

In the eyes of John who had cast the magic, the brick shone with a slight white magic light, and after being knocked by Hagrid, the white light instantly filled the entire wall.

Then, under Harry's shocked gaze, as the brick Hagrid had knocked on shook, the whole wall suddenly began to shake too.

A small hole appeared in the middle of the wall, and then the bricks began to move to the sides and the hole became bigger and bigger.

After a while, a wide archway appeared in front of them, which even Hagrid could pass through smoothly.

And this archway leads to a winding cobbled street with no end in sight.

Looking along, you can see all kinds of incomprehensible goods on the street, owls are flying around in the sky, and various smells are mixed in the air.

Both sides of the street are full of different shops, and wizards wearing wizard robes come in and out of the shops.

This is Diagon Alley, where every little wizard with a dream must pass.

"Welcome!" Hagrid turned his head and said with a smile, "Welcome to Diagon Alley!"

Harry stared blankly at all this. At this moment, his desire for the magical world reached its peak, and he couldn't help but followed Hagrid.

John followed Harry, not shocked by what had just happened, after all, he had seen similar scenes in his memory.

Harry looked sideways over their shoulders as they walked down the archway.

Shock again appeared on Harry's face as the archway they had walked narrowed suddenly and then became a solid wall again.

Bright sunlight fell on a stack of cauldrons outside the nearest store.

Above the cauldron hangs a sign that reads:

Copper-brass-pewter-silver crucibles, complete models, automatic stirring-foldable.

"Oh, you need to buy one," said Hagrid, seeing Harry's attention being drawn, "but we have to get the money first."

"Then let's part here." John said directly without waiting for Hagrid to speak.

Harry heard John's words, turned his attention away from a golden cauldron he was stirring, and joined Hagrid in saying goodbye to him.

Watching John disappear into the crowd, Hagrid couldn't help sighing: "What a polite child, and those dragon eyes are really beautiful."

Harry nodded in agreement, indeed those blue eyes impressed him deeply.

John walked directly towards the wand shop under Tom's leadership.

Compared with other things that allow Tom to prepare for purchase, the wand must be visited by him in person.

It was almost at the end of the street that John saw Ollivander's Wand Shop.

It's a worn out, small, run down shop.

The gold lettering on the door has peeled off, and it reads: Ollivander: Wandcrafted since 382 BC.

In the dusty window, on a faded purple upholstery stood a lonely wand, which had also become withered and worn out from prolonged exposure.

Pushing open the store door, the bell hanging behind the door swayed, and the tinkling sound echoed in the store.

The interior of the store is very simple, except for a bench, the rest are those long and narrow boxes that are almost to the ceiling, at least more than a thousand, and John knows that there are magic wands in them.

The shop, which was originally small in size, appears narrower and more closed against the backdrop of these boxes.

"Good afternoon! Are you a freshman at Hogwarts?" From behind those boxes, Ollivander walked out with a smile on his face.

Ollivander stood in front of John. He looked like an old man with gray hair but still full of energy.

Those big, light-colored eyes are like two shining moons in the dim shop.

"Hello" John looked at Ollivander "Yes, I am a freshman this year"

It seems that because there is no box to block the view, Ollivander can see the whole picture of John, especially the pair of dragon eyes.

With a little surprise, Ollivander said: "Oh, it's you! The son of the little princess of the Rozier family, it seems that the magic riot has brought some magical changes to you. Not human, but fortunately even so, you are still very much like your mother"

"It seems like yesterday that your mother came here and bought her first wand, ten and a quarter inches long, beech wood, hard, with a core of unicorn hair."

"Just like your mother, smart, kind, tenacious, and optimistic. Although the back was accidentally broken, the replacement wand is also suitable for her, but not as good as that one."

"I don't know how she is now? I don't know if she is still as optimistic and cheerful as before."

"After all your father, that pompous stupid... guy, although he used a wand of elm, twelve and a quarter inches long, with a core of phoenix feathers, aspen was the most suitable wand for him."

Speaking of this, John could clearly hear Ollivander's snort of disdain in his nasal cavity.

"Just like the idiots in other families, it is vanity and stupid to believe that only pure-blood wizards can make elm wands perform magic. It is vanity and stupid to force the wand to be replaced by elm."

"You can't even face up to your own nature, and you blindly pursue the so-called pure blood. I really don't know why your mother married him back then!"

While speaking, Ollivander approached John, and finally stopped at a position very close to him.

"Let's not talk about your father, anyway, he is no longer worthy of the aspen wand, and I can see that you don't like him very much." Ollivander looked at John, "So after you succeeded in the magic riot, Did you change your full name back?"

John paused for a moment and didn't expect Ollivander to ask this question, but he quickly reacted and said firmly, "I don't think I will change my current name, Mr. Ollivander."

"Then what's your name now, kid?"

"John Williams"

"Very well, Mr. Williams, now let's take a look at the most suitable wand for you!" Ollivander took out a long measuring tape with silver scales from his pocket.

"Which hand is your dominant hand?"

"left hand"

In fact, John Shuan's hands are dominant, which is an ability that every child who graduates from a military school in Tanya's world must master.

After all, the situation on the battlefield is changing rapidly, and no one knows if you will temporarily be unable to use your dominant hand because of the attack, then you must use the other hand to pull the trigger as soon as possible.

"Put your arms up."

Ollivander stepped forward to measure John, first from shoulder to fingertips, then from wrist to elbow, shoulder to floor, knee to armpit, and finally his head.

As he measured, he spoke in a tone that sounded like a carol
"Every Ollivander wand has a superior magical substance, and that's the essence of it."

"I used unicorn feathers, phoenix tail feathers, and dragon heart nerves."

"Each Ollivander wand is unique because no two unicorns, dragons or phoenixes are identical."

"Of course, if you had used a wand that should have belonged to another wizard, it would never have worked so well."

"In my opinion, the wizard does not choose the wand, but the wand chooses the wizard."

After the measurement was over, Ollivander also stopped this strange chant.

Back behind the counter, Ollivander first took a box off a shelf.

When the box was opened, there lay a beige magic wand inside.

Ollivander introduced: "Fir wood with unicorn hair, eleven and three-quarter inches, very suitable for a tough little wizard like you."

But just as John picked up the wand from the box, Ollivander was so excited that he even screamed and snatched it away.

"No! No! It's not for you, you almost burned her!"

Speaking of which, Ollivander carefully put the wand back into the box, took out another wand and handed it to John: "This is the aspen wand that your father didn't choose at the beginning, try it, you may be better than it." He fits better."

But John didn't take the aspen wand, he was reminiscing how the wand made him feel just now.

Because of the magic in Hal's world, John is very sensitive to connection. When he got the wand, the wand actively contacted his magic power, thus creating a connection with him.

This means that this wand chose him, but unfortunately, because of the blood of the red dragon, his magic power now naturally has a burning attribute, and this wand was almost ignited by his magic power from the inside out.

It seems that even if the unicorn core is suitable for him, it cannot withstand the burning of his own magic power.

"I think...Mr. Ollivander, I need a dragon-related wand, preferably the most flaming one"

"Yes! Yes! Why didn't I expect that, it can be seen from your eyes!" Ollivander looked at John with some excitement.

"You are a naturally keen wizard, I think this wand should be very suitable for you!"

Ollivander fetched a box and opened it, and inside lay a pitch-black wand.

I saw a fire dragon entrenched on it. Just opening the box, I felt that the surrounding temperature was much hotter, which showed that there was magic heat in it.

"Ebony wood, dragon heart string, 15 inches, extremely hard! This is a very strong combination, and it is also one of the works I am most satisfied with recently."

"Ebony, a jet-black wandwood of impressive shape and reputation, is highly suited to all forms of dueling magic and Transfiguration."

"He is most willing to fall into the hands of wizards who have the courage to be themselves. Owners of ebony wands are usually not conformist, have a strong sense of individual independence, or prefer to stand on the sidelines."

"The core of the dragon heartstring is the material I obtained this year. It comes from a Hungarian Horntail in its prime. This kind of fire dragon is the most dangerous of all fire dragons."

John gazed at the wand, and through the sympathetic effect of its material, he saw the Hungarian tree crest roaring at him perched atop the great ebony tree.

But it is a pity that in front of the great red dragon, the dangerous Hungarian Tree Peak is nothing but a large fire-breathing lizard.

Facing John's pair of emotionless blue dragon pupils, this newly born wand quickly expressed his surrender to him.

Stretching out his hand to hold the wand, the magic power began to surge, and John's red hair moved automatically without wind, like a blazing flame.

Gently waving his wrist, the scorching magic power entered the wand along his hand, and a flame rushed out from the top of the wand, its power seemed to punch a hole in the ceiling!

"That's it! That's it! It's so suitable for you, it's as if the Hungarian tree peak has come to life!" Ollivander was very excited, and he didn't care that the distance was too close, and the flames were about to ignite his beard.

In the end, the flames gradually subsided, and the wand became quiet again, but if you look carefully, you will find that the fire dragon engraved on it has quietly changed into the phantom of the red dragon that appeared behind John when his bloodline awakened.

Satisfied, he inserted the wand into the wand sleeve that Ollivander handed him, and hung it around his waist, before John asked, "How much?"

"Seven Galleons of Sincerity"

Tom standing aside immediately took out seven Galleons from his pocket and placed them neatly on the counter.

Leaving the wand shop, John pondered for a moment, recalling what Ollivander had said about his mother.

So he said, "Tom, let's go and see the pets. I think I need an owl to deliver the letter."

 Aspen:

Wand-grade white aspen wood has a fine grain and is highly recognized by all wandmakers for its unique ivory luster and excellent spellcasting ability.

The right aspen owner is often a skilled duelist, or is meant to be, for aspen wands are one of those particularly martial wands.

In the [-]th century there was an obscure secret dueling club called The Guns of the Silver Spear, which was said to be restricted to wizards and witches with aspen wands.

Owners of aspen wands are generally strong-willed and extremely determined, likely drawn to quests of discovery and new orders.

This is the magic wand of revolutionaries.
