Chapter 1451: Arrival in India

Chapter 1451: Arrival in India
After leaving Kangguo, Tang Seng went to Tocharistan. The king of Tocharistan was the son of Yehu Khan, and the queen was the sister of his good brother Ju Wentai. This was also a country that was very kind to Tang Seng.

As a result, Tang Seng only stayed for a month, and witnessed the king fall ill, the queen die, the king get better, marry a new queen, and then be poisoned to death by his own son. The son quickly ascended the throne and married his stepmother as queen. It is a touching story!

After crossing Tocharistan, Tang Seng finally saw the Indus River and smelled the scent from India.

After arriving in India, Tang Seng arrived at Kapisa, the first country he visited. The king of Kapisa also respected Buddhism very much, but he thought that the Buddhist teachings of the Tang Dynasty were not good enough and did not approve of Tang Seng. So the king invited famous monks from all over the country to debate with Tang Seng. And it was not a one-on-one debate, but more than a dozen monks debated with Tang Seng at the same time. As a result, Tang Seng convinced them one by one. From then on, the whole Kapisa country revered Tang Seng as a god, and Tang Seng's name began to spread throughout India.

Next, Tang Seng arrived at Longchi, which was said to be a school established by Ananda, a disciple of Buddha. It had the most extensive Buddhist education institution in the whole of India, capable of teaching thousands of monks to study Buddhism at the same time.

Although Tang Seng won many monks through debates, he knew that his understanding of Indian Buddhism was not profound and that the Buddhist scriptures of the East did have many omissions. So Tang Seng decided to learn the most basic Indian Buddhist knowledge and scriptures like an ordinary young monk in Longchi.

Ordinary people need to study here for 20 years before they can graduate, but Tang Seng was very famous, so the abbot here gave him private lessons. After only two years, the abbot passed all his knowledge to Tang Seng and announced that Tang Seng had graduated.

After graduating, Tang Seng was ready to go to the Buddhist holy place Nalanda Temple. However, he encountered robbery again just after leaving Longchi. The mission of the team that escorted Tang Seng was to send him to India, so they had already returned to Gaochang in Kapisa.

Although the remaining two disciples of Tang Seng had been following him, their foundation was not solid, so Tang Seng decided to keep them in Longchi to continue their studies until they could truly graduate. Tang Seng set out on the road to Nalanda Temple alone.

As a result, when he went out, he met a group of robbers. The robbers robbed all of Tang Seng's property and pushed him into a dry well, intending to kill him. Unexpectedly, there was a secret passage at the bottom of the well. After Tang Seng left through the secret passage, he arrived at a field and met local villagers.

These villagers had long heard of Tang Monk's miraculous stories and were all his loyal fans. After learning that Tang Monk had been robbed, hundreds of villagers rushed forward and snatched back the stolen items.

After leaving Longchi, Tang Seng arrived at several small countries in India one after another. In each country, Tang Seng would stay there for several months. Because Tang Seng found that the temples in each country kept different Buddhist classics, many of which were not available in the monk school in Longchi. Therefore, in each country, Tang Seng must learn all the unique classics of that country, and then set off to the next country after mastering them.

Unconsciously, several years passed and Tang Seng arrived at Ayodhya. At that time, Tang Seng was sailing south along the Ganges River. He encountered river pirates on the river. The pirates kidnapped more than 80 people on the boat, robbed them of all their property, and selected one person to sacrifice to the goddess Tuga.

Goddess Tuga is one of the goddesses of Hinduism. She has 10 arms and is responsible for helping men to get rid of lust. The word "get rid of lust" seems very sacred, and it should be a great virtue like the "No Seduction Forum". But the way Goddess Tuga helps her believers get rid of lust is to get rid of lust with desire, which literally means to satisfy all the desires of men, even more desires than giving them, so that men will lose interest in desire, understand the sin of desire, and then get rid of desire.

Simply put, it makes you feel so good that you can't get any better, your limbs become numb, your legs become weak, and you become devastated, thus completely losing interest in your desires.

This group of river pirates were all men who excited the goddess Tuga, so they decided to sacrifice the most handsome man among the 80 people to the goddess Tuga. After choosing and selecting, our Tang Monk was naturally the most handsome, so he was naturally chosen, put on the altar, and prepared to set fire to Tang Monk to burn him to death.

Tang Seng did not resist, but just sat on the firewood pile and silently recited the Heart Sutra. Unexpectedly, there was a violent storm in an instant, and the original day turned into night in an instant. Countless dark clouds seemed to swallow up the entire world, scaring the bandits to tremble.

Among the other kidnapped people, someone immediately jumped out and told the bandits that this was the famous Tang Monk, the disciple favored by the Buddha, who was protected by gods. If you want to burn Tang Monk to death, you will be destroyed by the gods.

So the bandits immediately invited Tang Seng down, and knelt on the ground to convert to Buddhism and worship him as their master. After Tang Seng agreed, the wind, thunder, lightning, and dark clouds in the sky disappeared without a trace in an instant, and the whole world returned to its peaceful and pleasant state. From then on, Tang Seng's reputation spread more widely in India.

Afterwards, Tang Seng went to the country of Pataliputra, where the king was King Harsha. It was the time for King Harsha to make a great donation, so he scattered all the money he had accumulated in the year on the square and let the people pick it up. This scattering lasted for 75 days, and it was real money scattering.

After King Harsha met Tang Seng, Tang Seng continued to move forward and arrived at Kapilavastu, the birthplace of Buddha. He meditated under the Bodhi tree where Buddha had enlightenment, feeling the wisdom of Buddha. Finally, he arrived at the place where Buddha passed away and saw the Buddha's relics.

However, many Buddhist temples along the way fell into disrepair and many monks were forced to change their careers, because this was a time when Buddhism was declining and Brahmanism was rising in India. Hundreds of years later, Buddhism would even disappear in India and only spread in other neighboring countries, becoming the only large-scale religion in the world to become extinct in its original place.

Finally, it is gratifying that after a long journey of 4 years, Tang Seng finally arrived in Magadha and saw the Nalanda Temple that he had longed for.

Nalanda Temple is the highest temple of Indian Buddhism and the highest institution of learning. It has a palace comparable to that of an imperial palace. All monks live in single rooms. Each monk is assigned two servants to take care of their daily lives. There are also 100,000 people responsible for supplying food and various needs of Nalanda Temple. After entering here, monks only need to study Buddhist classics and comprehend the principles of becoming a Buddha.
