Warhammer 40: Gods Of Mortals

Chapter 1187 Strange Enemy

Chapter 1187 Strange Enemy
……

The front line of the battle against an unknown alien empire.

The transport ship carrying the Lord of Flame and the 17th Legion stopped in the star system where the command center was deployed. The 17th Legion was sent to the vacant strike cruiser, while the Primarch and the Lord of Flame went directly to the Emperor's Dream.

All the Primarchs had rushed here. They had just arrived and were waiting in the bridge while reviewing the information collected by Horus and his descendants.

When Qin Mo and the Primarch stepped onto the bridge, everyone's eyes were on them.

Perturabo, who was standing in the corner, sneered when he saw Lorgar.

He sneered because he refused Lorgar's request for communication and did not inform Lorgar of Lady Aisha's recent situation. This was a revenge for the Seventeenth Legion's snatching of credit in the Unification War.

But when he saw the pocket watch on Lorgar's hand, the smile on Perturabo's face disappeared instantly.

"It seems we can kill this enemy sooner rather than later." Horus stood up excitedly to greet the Lord of Flame.

"Yes, very soon."

Qin Mo walked towards the tactical table in the center of the bridge. The Primarchs who had stood up made way for him, and then he followed him.

With a swipe of his finger across the tactical table, all the information collected so far was presented on the tactical table.

There wasn't much information, only about two reconnaissance missions ordered by Horus.

The first time was when the battleship disappeared and reappeared, and everyone on board committed suicide.

The second time was a reconnaissance operation in which a large number of death row prisoners were sent to a galaxy occupied by the Alien Empire. They then lost their minds in a short period of time and all committed suicide.

Qin Mo randomly clicked on a recorded voice message in the ship's log.

"Sacrifice... sacrifice..."

There was only one word that was repeated over and over again.

And when Qin Mo clicked on a voice recording of the death row prisoners before they committed suicide, he found that the word "sacrifice" was still being repeated in the recording.

Very weird.

"Are there any signs of corrupt beliefs around the territory of the Alien Empire?" Qin Mo asked Horus.

"There is not the slightest sign of corrupt faith. It's strange to say, no matter what the alien empire is, the weak human forces around them will definitely be affected to varying degrees. But no, the human forces around the alien empire only know that there is a dead place that they cannot go to, and they don't even know that there are aliens there." Horus replied.

"We don't even know what the enemy looks like." Guilliman said calmly, "We cannot rule out the possibility that there are human forces in that unreachable land."

"So now you don't even know if the enemy is an alien?" Qin Mo raised his eyebrows, "But you have fought fleet battles with the enemy before."

Horus recalled: "The enemy did not lose even a single ship, and no crew members drifted into the void. In addition, it is impossible to tell what race or civilization the ship belongs to just by looking at its appearance, because there is no structure related to culture or belief on the ship, it is just a pure ship."

Qin Mo thought for a moment and looked at Magnus again: "Have you used psychic means?"

"I have sensed that place." Magnus nodded, "but I can't see clearly what's inside. It may be that the powerful psychic energy obscured that place... When I was a child, I always peeked into the research institute in the Himalayas, but the psychic energy obscured that place, so I couldn't see it. It's the same feeling as now."

"Are you sure it's spiritual energy that's obscured that?" Qin Mo asked.

Magnus nodded, then shook his head in confusion: "I'm sure, but not completely sure. The feeling of not being able to see is almost the same. Whether it's not being able to see on the psychic level or the physical level, I can't categorize this feeling."

Qin Mo became more and more confused and looked at Sanguinius again. Sanguinius's prophetic ability was very...

"Not at all." Sanguinius shook his head.

"Why can't you predict it?" Qin Mo asked, "Tell me in detail."

"It was like not being able to see something," Sanguinius recalled. "It was just like what Magnus said."

After asking all the questions he needed to ask, Qin Mo frowned and thought.

The primarchs all felt a little guilty, thinking they had not fought hard enough.

But Qin Mo didn't think the primarchs should be held responsible for this. They did what they could when facing a strange enemy.

At least Horus blocked off any star systems around where the enemy was, and maximized his advantage without setting foot in places where they would go crazy or die.

Qin Mo was very confused. Who was the enemy?
Ran Dan? Jing Yuan? Assassin?

Qin Mo thought about all the powerful enemies that appeared during the great expedition. There were many kinds of aliens or powerful human forces that had the ability to create a forbidden area where intruders would die, but considering the time and the progress of the expedition, such enemies should not appear at this time.

However, there is a way to deal with the situation where you will die as soon as you set foot in a galaxy occupied by the enemy.

"Your father and Terra's scientific research department have created a protective device that can filter out psychic influences." Qin Mo said, "I have added some technology to filter out the messy influences on the material level, even though your father does not think that the cause of madness and suicide is the influence of the material level. At least we may try to conduct a reconnaissance first."

After saying that, Qin Mo looked at Horus.

He was letting Horus make strategic decisions.

Like during the War of Unification, Qin Mo would not issue any combat orders when the Primarchs gathered together. He would not force himself to command the Primarchs, even if they were willing to obey.

This is also an education in itself.

Face up to your own strengths and weaknesses and let the right people do the right things.

"Conduct reconnaissance first." Horus had the same idea, "Alpha, Omega, this is your mission."

Alpha and Omega nodded.

Although the two Alpharius brothers were not raised by Malcador, they learned a lot of knowledge from Malcador when they grew up.

In the Great Crusade that took place not long ago, the 20th Legion was the only one that did not fight independently under normal circumstances. Its subordinate chapters were divided into various war zones, responsible for assisting the brothers of the Father of Genes in combat, conducting intelligence gathering, assassinating important military personnel and other activities.

This means that the 20th Legion is not responsible for the front battlefield and will not receive much military honor.

But the XX Corps gained more than it lost.

The two brothers left the bridge side by side and in unison to make the preparations they needed to make.

The Emperor took a moment to construct the device which was being installed on a small purpose-built ship, after being pulled out of his current research into completely eradicating the Astartes genetic defect.

The ship carrying the personnel of the 20th Legion left the fleet and entered the dimensional space, rushing to the forbidden area where the enemy was entrenched, where anyone who set foot in would die.
