Chapter 1203 30K Extra: The Dust Settles
Scorching sun.
The Emperor lay beneath a parasol, his eyes fixed on the data-pad in his hand.
"The damn Eldar alien tore open a rift of idealistic power just before its destruction."
"But with the efforts of the Empire's heroic Thunder Warriors, Astartes, and mortal armed forces, the evil conspiracy of the Eldar was ultimately nothing more than a farce."
"The parliament has begun voting. Perhaps the aliens think they can control the fate of their species, but they are wrong. The fate of these damn aliens is in our hands. For humanity!"
"..."
The Emperor swiped the datapad expressionlessly.
zizi——
"Hello! Scholar Usaka E. Blood of the Alien Research Society of the Cadia Galaxy!"
"During the last communication between the Imperial Senate and the Eldar Death Army, the Eldar ambassador claimed that these aliens are nobler and more perfect than us. Although this is undoubtedly nonsense, in the spirit of scientific rationality, we need to know whether they are really nobler and more perfect than us at the racial level."
“So we brought in the professionals.”
"Professor Usaka, what do you think about this matter?"
"..."
"Well... I can only say that from a biological perspective, the Eldar are indeed very perfect, because these damn aliens are the product of biological engineering. They were designed to serve a certain purpose."
"You know."
"It's like the gift that the Lord of Flame gave to the Lord of Thunder thousands of years ago before he left, a completely material and loyal AI. We used part of that AI to create the stone man. The stone man we created is also very perfect."
"At the end of the day, it's pointless to debate biology. They do have their merits, and objectively speaking, those merits are enough to make them justifiably proud."
"But in the galaxy, productivity and war capabilities are more important. Whether a race can grow and prosper does not depend on whether each of them is beautiful."
"Like...like...well, for example, Tyranids from another galaxy."
"We discovered what drove the Tyranids who came to the galaxy to plunder biomass, and then we discovered that they were driven by a species that could cultivate their own biomass."
"If the Eldar continue to dream of taking back their so-called habitat through small fights, then their fate will be to be no match for us and then go wandering, wherever they want to go, it doesn't matter."
"..."
The emperor took a sip of his drink and raised his eyes to look at the busy figures in the fields.
The affairs between the two races were too far away from the Emperor. Both the Council of Terra and the Eldar were thousands of light years away from this world.
All that lies before our eyes is a peaceful, quiet life.
It was the autumn harvest season, and the Primarchs who usually did not farm would come to the fields, and together with Guilliman, bare-backed and holding sickles, they would quickly harvest the fields that occupied half of the plains of this beautiful agricultural world at a speed faster than a harvester.
"The Eldar will not be defeated like this. They will continue their guerrilla warfare or stay in the Webway for a few years before coming out to cause trouble for us."
"Just like 3,200 years ago."
Magnus walked out of the farmland, threw away his sickle, sat down next to the Emperor, took a drink from the refrigerator and took a big gulp.
"They are not a problem." The Emperor looked at Magnus. "Just like before, they are just aliens that need to be dealt with regularly."
Hearing this, Magnus shrugged, neither objecting nor agreeing, and took out a book from his pocket and started reading.
"Are you still trying to figure out a solution for your uncle?" The Emperor stared at the book about the gods in the Eldar's Black Library. "Don't waste your energy. It's useless."
"Anything is possible," Magnus said.
"We have been to the Warp." The Emperor recalled, "What is going on there is not something we can interfere with. We can't even sense what the Warp has become."
Magnus remained silent.
A minute later, Magnus stood up and left, taking the book.
The Emperor looked at his son's back and shook his head helplessly. He also wanted Magnus' research to make some progress. At least, if he entered the warp again in the future, he wouldn't have to be confused like many times before, not knowing where to find the person he was looking for.
But the Emperor's reason told him that this was impossible, and told him that Magnus was just trying to comfort himself. He did not want to do nothing, and he was the one among his brothers who could do something about this matter.
"..." Perturabo walked over silently, attracting the Emperor's attention.
As Perturabo lowered a huge machine used to thresh grain from his shoulders to the ground, the Emperor spoke automatically.
"Go to the other side of the mountain and call Orr over. He promised to come to dinner today, but he hasn't come yet so late. Please help me remind him."
At his father's command, Perturabo looked up at the Emperor, and just watched.
The emperor continued to instruct as if he didn't know what was going on: "Then help me get the ice bucket for drinks in the room and put it here."
Finally, he added: "Love you, kid."
"This isn't some goddamn effective spell!"
Perturabo growled in complaint.
He went back into the house, took out an ice bucket, and slammed it next to the Emperor's beach chair.
"I've had enough."
"Guilliman, and those idiots who are doing stupid things with him... What's the point of us growing food? He can't even get two tubes of toothpaste by growing food for a year and throwing it into the market..."
"It's like he's competing with Iven Foods to see who's better, farmers or the synthetic assembly line..."
"This damn day..."
"..."
The Emperor listened to Perturabo's complaints and watched him walk towards the mountains behind the edge of the farmland with a bucket of ice fish.
Orpesson lived at the foot of the mountain. Old Or didn't have many sons, and he couldn't cultivate much land by himself, so he could only herd sheep.
The Emperor withdrew his gaze and returned to the datapad, taking a drink from the ice bucket that Perturabo had just put down.
Unscrew the bottle cap, insert the straw, hold the straw in your mouth, and suck...
When the drink entered the Emperor's mouth, a shock wave suddenly descended, followed by a thunderous roar, and the drink spurted out of the Emperor's mouth.
That was the sound of a sonic boom.
It is not surprising to hear sonic booms on this agricultural world, because reconnaissance aircraft from the Sector Patrol Fleet come to agricultural worlds for routine patrols to see if local farmers have planted controlled plants.
Then the reconnaissance plane would let out a roar and fly back from the atmosphere to the patrol fleet outside orbit.
But this time, the emperor was very surprised.
Before the sonic boom, there was a shock wave. The emperor could feel that it was a shock wave coming from above his head, which meant that something flew over his head, stopped, and then instantly accelerated upwards to supersonic speed.
And the person who teases me with such despicable behavior while I am drinking...
The Primarchs ran out from the fields.
Perturabo returned with the bucket of fish that was to have been given to Or.
They all heard the sonic boom.
Something fell to the ground at an extremely fast speed, followed by flying debris and smoke and dust.
Then, a shock wave dispersed the stirred-up smoke and dust, along with the dark clouds over the agricultural world.
Perturabo dropped the bucket in his hand.
"Kids, I'm back."
