Chapter 739: Heading to Ilvermorny
Chapter 739: Heading to Ilvermorny
In the early morning, the sky was hazy.
The city was still in darkness, but the lights in the airport terminal were bright. The noisy broadcasting was tirelessly announcing flight information. Crowds of people were flowing between the elevators and aisles. Loren and Hermione followed the airport staff, avoiding the crowds, and went through security check and boarded the plane through another channel.
Because of the tight schedule, no flight to Massachusetts was arranged, so we took a nine-hour direct flight from London to New York instead.
The two boarded the plane, put their luggage away, and sat in a row.
Perhaps it was the effect of lack of sleep. I got home very late last night, and because of the long journey, I talked with my mother until the early morning, so I only slept for a few hours. I was dragged up before dawn to catch the plane. My head was dizzy and my thinking was a little slow.
Hermione glanced at Loren and saw that he was wearing a pure white short-sleeved shirt with a beach shirt, denim shorts and a baseball cap. He looked extremely casual. The only thing that looked serious on his body was the shoes on his feet. He looked like a student going on vacation during the summer vacation.
She didn't like this outfit very much, but she thought it looked good on Loren and couldn't help but glance at him secretly.
Traffic lights on both sides of the road lit up, dispelling the dim dark blue night. Loren moved close to the window, resting his forehead against the glass, staring outside without blinking.
"What are you looking at?"
"See if there are any subtle signs."
"what?"
Loren shook his head, looking mysterious. "I once heard a story about a group of 17-year-old students who boarded a plane that departed in the early morning. Before takeoff, they noticed many subtle hints and avoided the plane crash under the influence of some kind of intuition. They also saved several classmates. However, in the following days, these survivors died in accidents one by one, and no one escaped the pursuit of death."
"..."
Hermione has experience in dealing with this kind of strange talk that she can't understand. At this time, don't say anything, don't ask any questions, just pretend you didn't hear it.
She reached out and rubbed Loren's shoulders, trying to soften them, and then put her head on them. The effect was average, and they were still a little stiff. She just managed to get by and sleep.
Hermione narrowed her eyes and raised the corners of her mouth slightly.
For a long time, because the girl grew and developed faster and she was slightly taller than Loren, this man always rested his head on her shoulders. Now that their situations were reversed, it was a good opportunity for her to experience this feeling.
The scent of the girl lingered at the tip of my nose, her warm head rested on my shoulder, and her fluffy hair brushed across my cheeks, making me feel slightly itchy. This feeling of being loved and trusted was indescribable, and that warmth seemed to flow straight into my heart.
Loren quietly slowed down his breathing and unconsciously lowered his voice: "Do you want to upgrade to sleep in the front?"
The girl gradually fell asleep, and said in a lazy nasal voice: "No, just like that."
So Loren stopped trying to persuade him, kept his shoulders steady, and turned his head to look out the window.
Ten minutes later, the plane glided along the route. After a slightly noisy engine sound and a slight feeling of overweight, the plane gradually rose into the sky.
It was not yet dawn, but after the plane broke through the clouds, a bright light rose in the east. This light was golden and brilliant, like a burning flame in the darkness, gradually igniting the rolling clouds under the dome sky.
Loren stared at the burning clouds and gradually felt sleepy. He obediently closed his eyes and fell asleep with the girl snuggling up to each other.
I don’t know how the route was planned. Either the airline’s estimated time did not allow entry, or the plane took a detour. It was already evening when it arrived over New York.
The plane slowly sank and disappeared into the sea of clouds. Hermione sat next to the window seat, her head still resting on Loren's shoulder, and she turned her eyes to look at the endless sea of clouds outside the window. The sea of clouds was dyed bright orange by the setting sun. She quietly watched this beautiful and brilliant scene, and then noticed that Loren's face was dyed with a layer of golden light when he slept with his head tilted. This angle was really beautiful, and she couldn't help but secretly glance at him.
Suddenly, they had an illusion that they had come here across the ocean not for living Horcruxes, not for Voldemort and the Death Eaters, but just for a vacation.
She couldn't help but start fantasizing that it would be nice to go on a trip for two after graduation.
The view was gradually obscured by clouds, and the feeling of weightlessness of falling woke Loren from his sleep. He blinked his eyelashes a few times and slowly opened his eyes.
Hermione beside her immediately closed her eyes, vaguely feeling someone staring at her. She tried hard to pretend that she was still asleep, but she couldn't help but smile.
The plane landed on the ground and glided for a distance, and a slight pause indicated the end of the voyage.
A staff member came out to guide the passengers to leave in an orderly manner. Loren took a small suitcase from above his head and pulled it towards the cabin door. When they walked out of the terminal side by side, they immediately saw two familiar figures. They were the airport pick-up staff arranged by Dumbledore waiting for them in front.
A man and a woman were standing at the exit of the passage. The man stood straight in a suit with the Auror logo of the Magical Congress of the United States pinned on his chest. The girl had a gentle smile and at a quick glance her appearance had not changed much, but her temperament was completely different, giving off the feeling of an adult wizard.
Pickley Graves raised his head and looked around at the passers-by, while Nancy Booth next to him elbowed him from time to time to remind him not to go too far.
Loren and Hermione paused, then walked over, dragging their boxes.
"Loren, Hermione, long time no see!"
“Welcome to New York.”
"haven't seen you for a long time."
Loren shook hands with the two of them, a little surprised: "Dumbledore said he would arrange someone to greet us. I thought it would be a professor from Ilvermorny or a staff member from the Magical Congress of the United States. I didn't expect it to be you two."
"You guessed it right, we are the staff of the Magic Congress." Pickley couldn't help but smile and pointed to the badge on his chest. "I am now an Auror in the Law Enforcement Department, and Nancy is the Federal Wand Permit Issuing Officer."
"Please cooperate with my work."
Nancy said this with a serious expression, and then she was amused. She took the wands from the two, left a mark on the parchment, handed the wands back, and led the two out: "Mr. Dumbledore and Professor Fontana specifically asked us to apply for the key to Mount Greylock. We will not stop in New York, but go directly to Ilvermorny."
Girls always find topics to talk about faster, and Hermione and Nancy quickly became familiar with each other, chatting in low voices about the Ministry of Magic and the Magical Congress.
Two boys were walking next to them, talking about the unexpected situation that started last night.
"The MACUS got busy after receiving the news last night. The Law Enforcement Department, the Serious Crimes Department, and the No-Maj Public Relations Department were all dispatched, and many experts from the research departments also went to Ilvermorny."
Pickley walked beside him: "Forgive my intrusion, but I still want to ask, what emergency happened?"
"This is a long story..."
