Chapter 92 Explanation of Ancient 1
Chapter 92 Explanation of Ancient One
Since everyone has some questions about the Ancient One, let me explain them here.Because there will be a fee for chapter comments over 1000 words, I split it into two answers.
1. What version of the Ancient One is this?
Answer: Generally speaking, fans who write about Marvel (referring to the world view that does not involve the X-Men) basically default to the most famous Marvel Cinematic Universe, or at least the main body is the image of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and then add some on this basis settings in comics.
Just like when a Marvel fan begins writing about Tony Stark, the first thing everyone thinks of is the face of Robert Downey Jr., right?I don’t think there are any books that specifically state “Iron Man from what universe is this” at the beginning, and even if there are, they are very special.
Therefore, this book is mainly based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with a few comic settings added. The Ancient One is basically the Ancient One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and then slightly modified based on the Ancient One in other Marvel works.
2. Does an absolute point in time exist?
Answer: At least according to Ancient One, it exists. The setting of absolute time point comes from the Marvel drama "What If". The Ancient One in it believes that once the absolute time point is modified, the universe will collapse and perish, and Doctor Strange in it does indeed modify the absolute time point after Caused the destruction of the universe.
Moreover, the play gives the observer's perspective and lines, indicating that from the perspective of the observer's level of existence, the setting of absolute point in time also exists.
So this is not a concept I made up to deliberately discredit the Ancient One. It is normal for me to use the original setting when writing fan fiction. If you feel that the setting of the absolute point in time is not good, then it is also Marvel's problem... In fact American comics do often have various settings that confuse and even fight each other.
3. Will Gu Yi’s character insist on killing people because of the absolute time?
Answer: In the episode "What If", after the Ancient One realized that he could not change Doctor Strange's mind, he directly took action against Doctor Strange, very decisively and without hesitation.
The magic attack he fired caused a big explosion. Excluding the magic, the body strength of the mage inside was still a mortal body. This power was definitely enough to kill people. If he didn't want to kill Doctor Strange and just wanted to restrain him, why didn't Ancient One use restraint spells?
So Ancient One would kill people because of the absolute timing. He would not show mercy even to Doctor Strange, let alone Gao Li?
And since the Ancient One feels that modifying the absolute point in time will lead to the destruction of the universe, and the Time Stone cannot reverse this destruction, then why does he, as the Supreme Mage, not take action to solve this problem? Is it the duty of the Supreme Mage to watch the whole show?
I'm not sure why many people think that Ancient One's character doesn't care about anything, and that no matter what the reason, he won't really want to take action. As the Supreme Mage, his duty is to eliminate factors that threaten humanity, otherwise Ancient One will be derelict in his duty.
