Chapter 331 It's too late, Dumbledore
Snape led Harry into his own tent.
The tent was cast with a traceless extension charm, and the space inside it was like a mini version of Hogwarts.
Harry and Snape walked in the middle of the quaint stone-brick corridor. Torches and wooden dormitory doors were staggered on the wall. The beeping and snoring sounds of burning torches were endless.
Walking deeper into the corridor, Snape placed his hand on an inconspicuous brick on the left.
The wall at the end of the corridor is recessed inward, revealing passages for entry from both sides.
Snape held Harry's hand and, instead of walking to the side, walked straight towards the collapsed wall in front of him.
Harry said nothing, nor did he resist, and let Snape pull him forward.
Snape's lips curled up into an imperceptible smile, and then he and Harry crashed into the wall and came to a spacious laboratory.
The place was filled with the strong smell of medicine and decoctions, and all kinds of tools for making potions were neatly placed on two laboratory tables, one large and one small, in the center of the space.
"On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, go in the middle; on Tuesday and Thursday, go on the left; on Saturday and Sunday, go on the right."
Snape let go of Harry's hand and gave instructions while looking ahead.
"I'll remember that." This was not the first time Harry had spoken to Snape like this.
Harry was used to Snape not making eye contact with him.
"Harry, I hope what you said before was not a joke." Snape turned around and said to Harry with his back to him.
From the glass of the bookcase opposite Snape, Harry could only see the black wizard robes and a blurry face.
"I'm not kidding, Mr. Snape." Harry took out the Gaunt Ring from his arms and continued, "Because I got the Resurrection Stone."
Snape turned his head sharply, his eyes fixed on the ring in Harry's hand.
The black stone reflected his distorted face more clearly and deeply than the glass of the bookcase where he stored his potion books and which he often wiped.
Not only could Snape see his own eyes, he could even see the beautiful Lily from more than a decade ago in his eyes.
Of course, he could see more clearly his own face that was trusted by Dumbledore.
"Dumbledore said that you destroyed the Horcruxes." Snape's voice was dry. "I asked him several times at the time, and he always said the same thing."
"He should have told you that I used a forgetfulness spell on him," Harry replied nonchalantly.
Snape's pupils shrank slightly, and his body trembled inexplicably as he looked at Harry's smile.
He suddenly pulled out his wand and pointed it at Harry, his eyes becoming darker. "So, who are you?"
"Mr. Snape, you should know that your Legilimency cannot obtain any useful information from either Voldemort or myself."
Harry casually threw the Gaunt Ring at Snape.
Snape looked at the arc of the ring and jumped away quickly as if he saw a ball of fire.
The ring fell to the ground defenselessly and rolled over, making a mournful sound.
Snape's heart trembled. He moved his eyes away from the ring and looked at Harry seriously.
"The Horcrux has indeed been destroyed. The Resurrection Stone is now pure."
Snape did not relax at all, his face was extremely tense, like a piece of parchment about to be torn.
"I need to inform Dumbledore."
Harry raised an eyebrow, then put his hands behind his back to make way for the exit, "Go ahead."
Snape did not move. His pupils seemed to be pulled by the Gaunt Ring, almost jumping out of the right side of the eye socket, and the shape of his eyes was tilted by this force.
The same goes for the mouth, nose, and ears.
The location of Gaunt's ring was like a singularity, pulling his facial features into a deformed state.
Snape's head kept shaking and the veins on his neck bulged, as if trying to prevent his facial features from distorting.
"You still want to resurrect my mother, right?" Harry's voice echoed in the space, like a chisel, constantly breaking through Snape's will.
"I saw in Dumbledore's memory the expression on your face when you heard the name 'Lily'."
"Give you a chance to do it again, you will definitely do better, right?"
"At least, I won't let myself indulge in powerless regrets anymore."
Snape's nails dug into his palms, blood dripped from between his fingers, rolling on the floor tiles, and then hit the Resurrection Stone squarely.
A murmur of unclear words was heard, and suddenly a thin layer of mist appeared between Snape and the ring.
"Severus, are you still alive?"
Snape's eyes widened and he looked at the suddenly appearing fog in disbelief.
A vague figure appeared in the mist, and it was making the sound that haunted Snape. "Lily..." Snape sighed, tears welling up in his eyes.
The extra layer of water in front of him allowed him to see the fog more clearly, and the figure also became clearer.
Harry's mother, Lily Evans, was there.
With smooth hair, gentle eyes, straight nose and smiling mouth, although she looked like a mother, Snape thought she was the most beautiful girl in the world.
but--
"Why are you still alive!?"
"Why am I dead!?"
"Why aren't you dead?!"
Lily Evans' expression suddenly became ferocious. She roared viciously, shattering the mist and Snape's tearful eyes.
"Listen to my explanation, Lily." Snape knelt on the ground, his wand dropped, and he clasped his hands in front of his chest in a prayer gesture. "When I knew it, it was too late."
"I wanted to commit suicide, but Dumbledore stopped me. He said I had more important things to do—"
"He asked me to keep Harry safe."
Lily's expression softened and her frizzy hair fell back down.
Snape breathed a sigh of relief and was about to stand up -
"Harry, I see my baby. He's all grown up, so why don't you come down and keep me company?"
Snape fell to the ground. He looked at Lily's cold eyes. His throat was choked by strong emotions and he couldn't make any sound.
The feeling was just like the first time he saw Lily's body, and it became difficult to breathe.
"My mother, you should be calmer. Mr. Snape didn't have an easy time after your death." Harry helped Snape up and said to Lily.
"My child, I recognized you at first sight. You have the same eyes as mine." Lily's expression softened truly, and she reached out her hand, wanting to touch Harry's face.
However, as soon as she stretched her hand out of the mist, it turned into a ball of powder.
Lily screamed miserably, then covered her broken wrist and wailed.
"Lily!" Snape's voice was ten thousand times more painful than Lily's. He rushed into the fog and wanted to hug Lily.
However, he missed and passed through the fog and Lily's body and fell to the ground.
Coincidentally, Gaunt's ring was covered by his body, and Misty and Lily disappeared without a trace in an instant.
Only Lily's wailing still echoed in Harry and Snape's ears.
"Lily!" Snape stood up suddenly, and after searching the entire room, his eyes were fixed on the ring at his feet.
He opened his bleeding hands and fell like a hawk stalking a rabbit.
"Mr. Snape, do you still want to hear the sound of my mother suffering alone in that world?"
Snape's movements came to an abrupt halt, and he used his other hand to hold back the ring hand that he was trying to grab. Harry seemed to hear the sound of finger bones rubbing against each other.
"Harry, do you have any ideas?"
"I have some ideas, but what about Dumbledore?"
"I'll explain." Snape picked up the wand, carefully used his magic, wrapped the ring with the finest silk cloth, and then placed it on the laboratory table.
He turned his head, his eyes even more determined than when he promised Dumbledore to protect Harry.
"I will explain," Snape repeated.
……
Dumbledore stood in the ruined Ministry of Magic with sweat on his forehead, his eyes full of anger and a hint of fear.
He felt an inexplicable sense of uneasiness in his heart, but he didn't know which bad thing would come next.
A big black dog ran over, and when it was three meters away from Dumbledore, it suddenly leaped and turned into a handsome gentleman in black.
"Sirius?" Dumbledore asked with certainty. He looked at the 'fugitive' from Azkaban and suppressed his anger, anxiety and fear.
"It's me, Dumbledore." Sirius Black nodded, then said, "I bring news about Tom Riddle."
Dumbledore narrowed his eyes, then nodded for Black to continue.
Sirius did not follow Dumbledore's instructions, but said in a tough tone: "Before that, I want to know where is Harry Potter?"
"I am his godfather, and I should have custody of Harry."
