Chapter 886 Martial Arts Design

Just kidnap her.

After Sang Linzhen briefly instructed his team on the next steps, he packed his luggage and prepared to return to the capital with Wu Yuan.

As the martial arts instructor of the crew, he certainly couldn't be responsible for the martial arts work of the entire crew alone. In fact, Sang Lin had a martial arts team of 12 people.

Well, to put it simply, it is similar to the Cheng family team and the Yuan family team, where an entire team is responsible for the martial arts guidance of a drama.

It’s just that the members of the team have no fame at all, and they all have to rely on Sang Lin for their meals.

This is a very normal thing in the martial arts instruction industry.

Before becoming famous, Sang Lin worked in other martial arts director teams for many years. Later, by chance, he got the opportunity to become a real martial arts director and then formed his own team.

In fact, the domestic martial arts director industry is in decline, and this kind of "XX class" behavior is very bad for the industry. It's the 21st century, and there are still such small groups. How can it be a big industry?

Only by establishing a formalized and large-scale martial arts instruction and training industry can we provide a steady stream of fresh blood for movies and TV series.

However, this aspect is not something that Sang Lin and Wu Yuan can promote alone. In fact, they are not interested in promoting it. As long as it can satisfy their own needs, it is enough.

The subsequent reshoots of "The Investiture of the Gods Trilogy" were handled by Sang Lin's martial arts team. There were not many fighting scenes that needed to be reshooted, so he was very relieved.

The next day, he and Wu Yuan said goodbye to Wu Ershan, boarded Wu Yuan's private plane and flew back to the capital.

Well, after seeing Wu Yuan’s private jet, Sang Lin became more determined to “hang out” with him.

This is a real thick thigh. You won’t have to worry about work for the rest of your life. You may even be able to transform from an action director to a real director.

"Director Wu, so the script hasn't been completed yet?"

After arriving at the conference room of Guangying Times and holding a video conference and seeing a bunch of white foreigners, Sang Lin finally figured out the preparations for the movie "Mulan".

The surprise is that this is a Disney blockbuster, targeting the international market, and it is also Disney’s most powerful live-action princess film. It’s a win!
What’s worrying is that all the work on “Mulan” has just begun, and the most important script has not yet been completed.

This is quite troublesome for martial arts instructors.

Because there was no exact script, Sang Lin had no way to design fighting moves based on the plot or storyboards. After all, fighting scenes always serve the plot, and you can't do whatever you want.

Wu Yuan was very calm about this. After the meeting, he kept Sang Lin alone and talked to him.

"Although the script is not finished yet, some plans for actor training can be arranged first."

"If nothing else, you've read the synopsis. In the movie, the war between the emperor's army and the nomadic army is the top priority."

"So the actors must learn some cold weapons, and also have to do some training for war scenes, such as charging, horse fighting, etc." "Right now, several leading actors are doing equestrian training at the equestrian field in Beijing. It is expected to be completed next month, and then they will start martial arts training."

"First, you should designate a training plan, including having the actors proficient in using cold weapons such as swords and spears, as well as horse fighting and commonly used martial arts moves. It would be a good idea to train them first."

"As for the specific fighting moves, we can discuss them again when the script is finalized and storyboards are prepared."

When it comes to making action films, things like storyboards are not something that Wu Yuan alone can decide. In Hollywood, there is a special term called action director, and later this term was also used in China.

Action director does not mean the director of action movies, but the director who is responsible for the action scenes in the crew, which is the same as the director of Group A and the director of Group B.

When it comes to action scenes, the entire crew has to listen to the action director. You have to fight however the action director tells you to fight, and you have to fall however the action director tells you to fall.

Even the chief director will not interfere in this regard.

This is also the division made after the film industry has been refined. Hong Kong Island will not shoot like this. Generally, the action scenes are decided by the chief director, and the martial arts director has to listen to the director. The martial arts director will think of ways to present what effect the director wants.

In mainland China, the role of action director has been introduced in the past decade or so. For example, when Lu Yang was filming "The Blade of the Assassin", Sang Lin was the action director. All the fighting scenes and specific storyboard arrangements of "The Blade of the Assassin" were discussed by Sang Lin and Lu Yang, and even Lu Yang had to listen to Sang Lin.

Because Sang Lin knows how to fight in the best way and how to make the audience most excited, but Lu Yang doesn't know martial arts, he just likes martial arts movies.

Wu Yuan actually didn't quite understand it. When filming "Bruce Lee", the fighting scenes were worked out by Chen Guokun, Hong Kong martial arts directors, and Hollywood action directors. "Bruce Lee" had an action director team of as many as eight people.

What Wu Yuan needs to do is to confirm whether he is satisfied with the shots after each fight scene is shot. If he is satisfied, he will keep it. If not, he will start over.

Of course, the storyboards before the official shooting were also discussed and determined by him and the action team.

The same is true for the filming of "Mulan" now. When it comes to the actual shooting, the storyboards for the fighting scenes must be discussed and decided by him and Sang Lin.

Although Wu Yuan does not know martial arts, he understands the aesthetics of film images. The two of them still have to complement each other's strengths and weaknesses. It won't work if either one listens to Wu Yuan or Sang Lin alone, but the two of them working together can present the most perfect effect.

This is also the reason why he came to invite Sang Lin.

Sang Lin was also very clear about this. After receiving a reasonable follow-up arrangement from Wu Yuan, he had no objection and immediately promised to make arrangements for the martial arts training before the actors' equestrian training ended next month, and then seamlessly take over the subsequent martial arts training.

Most of these trainings are focused on "laying the foundation", first cultivating the action basics and simple use of weapons of several leading actors, and teaching them how to fight professionally and beautifully in front of the camera!
It is expected that this training will last about 2 months, which is considered a very quick training.

You should know that when Sunglasses King was filming "The Grandmaster", he forced the leading actors to train for a long time, six months in advance, and the most outrageous one, Zhang Zhen, trained for three years.
Wu Yuan certainly doesn't have that much time, and Disney won't allow it. Two months of martial arts training is just enough time, and then he can practice the fighting scenes while filming the official filming.

Both Wu Yuan and Sang Lin were very satisfied with this plan! (End of this chapter)
