My son, Fusu, please abdicate the first emperor!

Chapter 732: The Teacher System is Integrating into the Political System

Chapter 732: The Teacher System is Integrating into the Political System
There is a limit to making the pie bigger and improving distribution. If people’s own problems cannot be solved, the end result will basically be the end of the government.

If we want to truly achieve the goal of lasting benefits for generations to come, it is actually necessary for the rulers to not have any selfish motives and do a good job in truly enlightening the people and cultivating their morality.

In this way, even if problems arise in the future, there will be many other "sensible" people who will stand up and correct the mistakes as soon as possible, instead of just bastards, idiots, fools, and bad guys harming each other!
Since the world is a boomerang, whether or not the rulers want to deceive or fool the people, the people will definitely not give back to you by rebellion or destruction.

The era of sages did indeed appear in history.

According to the law, what has happened before will happen again. What has been done before will be done again. If the monarch himself is willing to implement benevolent policies and distribute truly good things to the people, then making customs pure is not just empty talk.

Are Yao and Shun really that great?
Is there a possibility that they were all highlighted by later generations? They just did what they should do and were revered as saints.

In fact, Confucius' ideal world of great harmony is not that far away or mysterious at all. It just requires everyone to follow the steps to be a good person and be themselves.

But once upon a time, after the saint left, some crooked guys became rulers and they broke the rules.

But this doesn't mean that the situation will continue to get worse.

The biggest difference between humans and animals is that humans have subjective initiative.

Facing any situation or any matter, as long as you want to change and your heart is willing to change, then you can create all possibilities.
-
Fusu used his own words and deeds to convince the ministers to follow him in carrying out reforms, and they also implicitly agreed to help Fusu with cultural and educational work in the future.

But to be honest, Feng Quji and his group of extremely realistic old ministers felt a little uneasy, and even thought that this matter was too unreliable and very fantastic.

After all, the elderly have walked more bridges than the young. They know people's nature and their dark side too well.

However, the ancestors after the sage chose to adopt roundabout policies to deal with this problem and set up systems to guard against the dark side of people, while Fusu chose to resolve the dark side directly.

The new emperor was so direct, he went straight to the point and addressed the problem directly.

But for some reason, with Fusu leading them, they felt at ease and were willing to give it a try.

Maybe it was because of the times. The Qin Empire had just been established and was a newborn baby. Everyone had high hopes for it and everyone hoped that it would become better in the future.

So after these old ministers returned home, they sat on their mats in silence for a long time.

I really don't know what to say.

They were very curious about the direction the future emperor would lead them and what kind of world the future emperor would build.

Despite many concerns and fears, these ministers cautiously decided to follow Fusu.

The young and growing generation of ministers were so excited after hearing Fusu's words that they couldn't sleep.

It was as exciting as finding gold in the sand. The most amazing thing about Fusu was his thoughts, which made people feel a wonderful feeling, as if they had entered a magical realm.

The so-called history of mankind is actually the struggle between "father and son".

That is, the struggle between the older and younger generations.

The previous generation are the beneficiaries, and the next generation are the non-benefiters.

The two forces are constantly confronting each other.

It’s just that the young generation, the new blood of the country, is not polluted enough by the world because of their youth, so they always have a clear mind.

Whenever the country is in trouble, these young people and educated people are often the first to stand up and fight and sacrifice for what they believe to be pure.

Regarding the situation of the collapse of rituals and music since the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, people's hearts have become so corrupt that the people who most want to overthrow this dirty world are the young people. This is exactly what people like Zhang Cang, Chen Ping, Meng Yi, and Liu Ji want to do.

There is no shortage of such people in every era.

However, many times some people are unlucky and fail to meet a truly wise king.

Fortunately, this group of people met Fusu.

When they returned from the imperial court, the young ministers were filled with joy and thought the pigs in their home toilets were extremely cute.

The heart is the measure of everything in the universe.

If your heart is open, everything will be bright.

The future world that Fusu described to them not only made them yearn for it, but also made them very much hope to contribute their own efforts to create such a world.

Next, a brand new world will be born.

To be precise, the original appearance of the world is about to be revealed and exposed to everyone.

The mysteries of the universe, the truth of the world, and the meaning of life will all reappear in the world;

Of course, there will be many people who, because of the amount of knowledge, will think that this is a completely new world view and cognitive concept, but this is not the case.

The rules of the universe and life will never change, but they were tampered with in the past, which in turn affected people's ideas. In fact, Fusu just made them reappear in the world.

Regarding what is to be revealed next, some people may be hesitant and unbelieving, some may feel afraid, and some may follow Fusu unswervingly.

But Fusu would not choose to force them to accept it, because everyone has his own destiny.

He is only responsible for doing what he should do, doing the necessary popular science, using power in the right place, distributing the income produced by the people as much as possible, and letting the people enjoy the income from their labor.

Fate is in everyone's own hands. Even as an emperor, Fusu had no way to change his destiny.

Only you can change your destiny.

When it comes to the rise and fall of dynasties, Fusu does not have such a deep obsession as his father. What about eternity? That's ridiculous.

Fusu did not have the desire to make the Qin Dynasty last for ten thousand years.

According to the knowledge he has, people should focus on the present and not think about the distant future. Doing the things in the present well is the most important thing.

As for the history of future generations, let them create it themselves.

After reaching a consensus with his ministers, Fusu also thought about many things.

He knew that he would be slandered, defamed, and besieged by many people for speaking out these truths that the great masters were unwilling to pass on for fear of being ridiculed by the lower classes.
Even throughout his life, he will have no peace because of declaring these truths; in the future countless people will come to ask him questions, refute him, and question him, but what can he do?

But only by doing so can we help more people escape from the sufferings of this world and see their true nature; only by doing so can we correct the wheel of history and guide it back on track and lead it to develop in the right direction.

He believes that if it can truly reduce the sins of the world, then it is worth doing so.

To this end, this benevolent emperor knew that he had to make many changes.

It wasn't just the old officials who understood reality. For Fusu, the three thousand years of cruel oppression were all written in blood. Fusu also knew how bad people could be.

He knew that in order to create this ideal empire and fulfill the mission he should accomplish in his life, he had to grit his teeth, harden his heart, break all illusions, and no longer have any illusions about bad guys.

He will hold the sword of power tightly and deal a devastating blow to those scammers who attempt to use this cultural and educational knowledge to satisfy their own selfish desires or who want to take advantage of this opportunity to make a fortune.

Buddhist scriptures, Confucianism, Taoism, and Yijing, which one is not a good thing passed down by our ancestors. But in the hands of those vile and shameless people, they were transformed into something harmful.

The significance of having power is that this time Fusu can prevent these things from happening.

This is why Fusu established the Imperial Academy so that the princes could master the classics.

Giving the royal family the right to interpret classics actually does not have such a dark meaning. It is just to control and suppress the people. More importantly, it is to use the noble status of the princes and their "golden mouths" to make the people willing to listen to the truth.

This was caused by human nature, and Fusu had no choice but to do so.

In human society, if a person is of low status and unknown, then even if he possesses the highest truth, no one will listen to him.

What’s more, truth is profound. The superior man, when he hears the truth, diligently practices it; the average man, when he hears the truth, is uncertain about it; and the inferior man, when he hears the truth, laughs loudly, which does not make it the truth.

Only when those in power master the true teachings, can the people who have been "oppressed" and "transformed" for a long time, with the help of the power of habitual "looking up", begin to turn their attention to knowledge and wisdom, seek knowledge, and improve their own personality.

The Tao is like water, it is everywhere. But because it is everywhere, people always see it and don't think it is anything special. In people's concept, things are precious because they are rare.

Only rare things are valuable, and free, common things are not worth cherishing. Many people even hold a contemptuous attitude towards them.

It’s like, people would think, water is everywhere, what’s so mysterious about it?

In extraordinary times, Fusu could only resort to extraordinary measures.

This is why Fusu chose to retain the nobles, they are indeed of some use.

And even if you don't retain these nobles, other commoners will soon seize power and proclaim themselves new nobles or new families, just like in the past.

Because of this incident, Fusu asked many doctors of the Five Classics to try their best to cultivate a group of high-quality nobles.

Chunyu Yue, who had great faith in Heaven, Earth, the Emperor, parents, teachers, benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom and trustworthiness, and Confucianists such as Kong Yu, were the top true teachers who contributed greatly to the education of these nobles.

Confucianism is originally a teaching for rulers. Because rulers hold power, they must govern the country with benevolence. This makes sense!

After six years, quite a few young men have made great achievements in their studies. Even if they have not gained any new insights or new realizations, at least they have memorized the meaning of all the hexagrams in the Book of Changes.

After all, when they met a teacher like Kong Yu, who carried the reputation of being the descendant of Confucius, the gentlemen did not dare to neglect him and they all listened attentively in class.

Chunyu Yue told Fusu very modestly, "With your current strength, you may not be able to govern the country very well in the future, and the people may not be very prosperous. But you must know what to do when governing the people, and will not mistreat the people."

This is the effect Fusu wanted.

This is the meaning of education!

Only when the kings and princes are well educated can the people have a good example and will not do bad things, and only then can a sense of trust between people be re-cultivated.

In order to consolidate the achievements, Fusu built new palaces and pavilions for the Imperial Academy at the beginning of the year despite the tight treasury funds.

Fusu warned the doctors, "If you want to wear the crown, you must bear its weight. You must make sure that since you are in a high position, you cannot enjoy the taxes paid by the people for nothing. You must do what a man should do."

“Don’t ask yourself to be a saint or a wise man, just start by being a good person.”

Fusu, who had just ascended the throne, taught his younger brothers these words. To be honest, these younger brothers were somewhat dissatisfied with him because he said one thing and did another.

However, Kong Yu, Tang Bing, and Chunyu Yue supported Fusu. They opposed Ying Zheng's approach and agreed with Fusu's ideas to the utmost.

These teachers then started a cycle of education for the young masters, repeating the same words over and over again every day until they listened to them.

Prince Jianglu knew that his elder brother had always wanted to accomplish great things, but he never expected that he would have the honor of becoming an important member of Fusu's grand plan.

He felt honored and wanted to contribute. Fusu asked them to be good people, and Jianglu not only accepted it, but also raised his own goals, hoping to satisfy the people.

As for Hu Hai, this naughty boy has now been educated and behaved well, just like Prince Fusu in history.

Chunyu Yue patiently guided this bad boy and turned him into a humble gentleman. This incident once became a classic successful educational event in the Imperial College and served as an example for all students.

Chunyu Yue was also very proud of this. Hu Hai was educated to be a royal son who valued friendship, kindness and love for the people. Whenever he thought of this, he would smile unconsciously.

Logically speaking, Hu Hai, who was educated to become a stubborn and humble gentleman, should be quite disgusted with Fusu's actions.

He ascended the throne against his father. How can this be considered filial piety? Such a person is still trying to educate others.

Fortunately, the flexible Chunyu Yue realized this problem in advance. Facing Hu Hai's confusion and puzzlement, he repeatedly told Hu Hai with a firm look, "Those outside are all rumors."

"The Emperor Retired really abdicated."

"The handwriting on the edict was written by the Emperor himself, so there won't be any problems."

For this reason, Chunyu Yue specially asked Hu Hai to read the imperial edict.

After being successfully educated, Hu Hai believed the imperial edict without hesitation when he saw it.

Hu Hai told Chunyu Yue, "So, your Majesty is still a kind father, and your Majesty is still the filial elder brother in my heart, the elder brother who sets an example."

Chunyu Yue narrowed his eyes and nodded repeatedly.

Hu Hai was very excited about this and took the imperial edict to tell each of his brothers, "The emperor and father are so virtuous. Your Majesty accepted the imperial edict after much difficulty. There is no such thing as forcing my father to abdicate."

Kong Yu looked at Hu Hai and felt sad for him. What a fool! He was fooled.

Regardless of the guys in the Shangshutai who were recording and compiling history, they were very happy. They were worried that this major historical event could not be covered up. With a truly virtuous and honest man like Prince Hu Hai speaking out, they were naturally ecstatic and recorded all of Hu Hai's words and deeds.

When Fusu heard about these things, he became even more worried about his younger brother Hu Hai, and even began to hesitate whether he should let him leave Xianyang and go to his fiefdom.

Without him, how can I survive in the harem?
-
In addition to strengthening the education of the prince, Fusu continued to implement his own philosophy of governing the country through education, and also educated the Qin officials accordingly.

But because Fusu didn't want to take too many moral education classes, he refused that thing.

If we are not careful, it will become formalism. Everyone talks about benevolence, righteousness and morality, but in fact they are full of contempt for these things.

In order to solve this problem, on the one hand, we should look at what Fusu, the rulers and administrative chiefs of the time, did, and on the other hand, influence his students with his own upright conduct.

On the other hand, you have to choose a real teacher.

Many times, teachers seem to be teachers, and they all talk about the same concepts. However, only teachers who have real ideas can make everyone accept, remember, and act accordingly; while teachers who only talk in generalities and read from textbooks will cause misunderstandings because they are perfunctory and students do not understand the big picture at all.

For this matter, Fusu personally summoned the 72 doctors of Qin.

Zhou Qingchen was also among the doctors, but with the departure of Li Si and the suicide of Yao Jia, he realized that gentlemen are now in power and his way of doing things is no longer feasible. For this reason, he dares not force himself to be in the limelight now, and stands at the back obediently, for fear that people will bring up his past.

Fusu explained his ideas to these doctors, "The Qin State governs the country by law. This is the most basic national policy and will not change in the future."

"You all know that the rules of the Qin State's trial system are clearly written. During the trial process, not only should we resolve disputes, but we should also take the opportunity to let Qin officials spread the law to the people."

"The system is set by people and implemented by people. When it was formulated, everyone thought very well and comprehensively, trying to combat the situation where 'doctors are not subject to criminal punishment'."

"But when it came to execution, the Qin officials began to slack off. Some took the opportunity to seek personal gain, some imposed excessive sentences, and some fabricated evidence."

"Especially the sentencing issue, which is of great importance. Whether the sentencing is fair or not, and whether the people can accept it, all affect the authority of the empire in the eyes of the people."

"However, how did the Qin officials grasp this standard? In the past, they relied on constantly adding legal provisions and details to solve the problems."

"But adding more legal provisions will not stop Qin officials from being lazy and slacking off on their duties."

"I can only place my hopes on you."

Integrating teaching and national governance is definitely one of Fusu's great contributions to the Qin Empire.

Fusu absorbed Xunzi's view on teacher-student relations and integrated teacher-student education with state governance. [See Volume 3 of this book for details]

Many doctors were full of confidence when they received this task.

Especially in the current situation, the world's politics is moving towards clarity.

Fu Sheng and Kong Yu, the real descendants of Confucianism with real knowledge, were very happy about it.

"Your Majesty's thoughts are exactly what we discussed a month ago."

"As grassroots law enforcement officials, the more legal provisions Qin Li understands, the more legal loopholes he knows. Studying in the academy can only improve their ability to make legal judgments, but it cannot improve their morality."

"Just like the treacherous minister Zhao Gao, he was well versed in the law, but he was full of evil."

"Your Majesty is worried about real problems in the world."
