Chapter 1
At the beginning of June, Jinghai City experienced several consecutive heavy rainstorms. At four o'clock in the afternoon, dark clouds came over and the entire city was shrouded in darkness.

The flood control department has issued a warning that with level 15 winds on the sea surface, local precipitation will reach [-]cm tonight.

Many units get off work early, and the streets are full of people rushing home.

It was already six o'clock when Xu Ling walked out of the company building. The wind picked up, and the wind was mixed with raindrops, which made her face feel cool.

The rainstorm had not yet come. Xu Ling rolled up her trouser legs to reveal her thin white ankles. She put her backpack on her chest, opened her small flower umbrella, and ran to the subway station.

Xu Ling came to Jinghai City after graduation. Now three years have passed. She rented a small apartment along the company's subway and lived alone.

Xu Ling likes this city.

There are mountains and seas, and it would be perfect if she had a boyfriend. Xu Ling, hiding under an umbrella, is looking forward to a bright future.

When we walked out of the subway station, it was already raining heavily.

A gust of wind blew from behind, and Xu Ling's umbrella was blown over by the strong wind. She staggered and was blown a few steps away by the wind.

After walking further and getting soaked all over, Xu Ling walked into the convenience store in front.

Walking into a brightly lit convenience store on a dark rainy night, a warm feeling hit her face. Xu Ling shook her umbrella, but the ribs had been blown off.

The little girl in the convenience store is in her 20s, wearing a beautiful blue uniform with curved eyebrows:
"Guest, our convenience store provides umbrellas. If you live nearby, just put in a dollar and bring the umbrella back tomorrow."

Xu Ling smiled:

"That's great, thank you. I live not far away, and the rain is really heavy. This is the first time I've experienced such heavy rain in the past few years since I've been in Jinghai City."

As she spoke, Xu Ling bought instant noodles, drinks, and a bag of summer snacks and put them into her backpack. She took an umbrella from the convenience store door and merged into the heavy rain again.

The terrain of Jinghai City is high in the center and low in the east and west. Xu Ling has been used to climbing uphill for three years here.

Usually, I don't think so, but on this rainy night, Xu Ling felt that the location of the apartment she lived in was too remote.

After climbing up a slope and ten steps, Xu Ling was panting.

It was still more than 1000 meters to walk along the main road to the community. Xu Ling's shoes were already soaked through, and the rainwater flowed down the arm holding the umbrella, which was cold and cold.

Several thunders sounded in the sky. Xu Ling was frightened and decided to take a shortcut and rush back to her nest as soon as possible.

There is a small road leading to the community, with high walls on both sides. Going out from here is the access control of Xu Ling's community.

Xu Ling ran in. After a few steps, Xu Ling regretted it because she felt there was someone behind her.

Subconsciously speeding up her pace, Xu Ling comforted herself that she might be someone who was rushing home as anxiously as herself.

But Xu Ling was wrong. The eight-level wind was blowing more violently here, attacking from both sides. The raindrops were already hitting Xu Ling crazily, and the people behind were getting closer and closer.

Xu Ling started running, her high-heeled shoes clicking clearly in the heavy rain. She didn't dare to look back. What was even more terrifying was the fear in her heart.

It was raining heavily, and Xu Ling could no longer see the exit in front of her, so she held the umbrella handle tightly with both hands.

The footsteps were getting closer and closer, Xu Ling turned her head slightly, and the rain hit her eyes. She saw a blurry figure behind her wearing a raincoat, and Xu Ling shivered.

A moment later, a black shadow came to her side. Xu Ling subconsciously wanted to open her mouth to call, but her mouth was suddenly covered.

This hand was thin and strong, and the arm tightly imprisoned Xu Ling. There was a bag on the arm that made a crackling sound from the rain.

Xu Ling couldn't breathe and struggled desperately.

The umbrella fell to the ground, followed by heartbreaking pain. The pain hit her lower back, and Xu Ling slipped to the ground little by little.

The blood spread under her body and was instantly washed away by the heavy rain. Xu Ling lay on her back, painfully letting the heavy rain fall into her eyes and mouth.

Xu Ling lost consciousness...
