Chapter 23 Capable Secretary

Chapter 23 Capable Secretary

Two days after the stabbing, Samuel Artis showed up at Charlie's office.

"So it's you?" Artis was really surprised when she saw Charlie sitting on the chair.

Along the way, she asked who the employer behind Sol was, but she didn't expect it to be Charlie.

Charlie turned off the computer and saw a band-aid on the bridge of Artis's nose.

"Although there were some twists and turns, you still appeared in front of me as promised." Charlie smiled a little bitterly.

The woman in front of her is almost the same as when we first met. She has dark brown hair, taupe pupils, thick long hair that is slightly curly on the side, and has a delicate face. She is worthy of being a professional model, but the band-aid on the bridge of her nose is a bit distracting.

Three years ago, she was listed in Stuff magazine's "102 Sexiest Women in the World", and she was on the cover of many magazines such as "GQ", "YM", "Maxim", and later decided to join Hollywood. Seeking greater development, the result is also seen now, and she can't even hire a lawyer. If she hadn't read the news and called the West Hollywood branch in Los Angeles, she might not know when she would come out.

"By the way, how did you get involved with Weinstein?" Charlie still remembered the name.

In 2017, with the publication of an article in the New York Times, the crimes of one of the Hollywood giants were revealed. Hundreds of women have publicly complained.Among them are Hollywood A-list celebrities like Angelina Jolie. This does not include those who were unwilling to speak out for the sake of their own reputation. Weinstein was eventually sentenced to 24 years in prison and had to spend the rest of his life in a prison cell.

This is not new in Hollywood. According to data released by USA Today in 2018, in a survey covering 843 Hollywood professional women, the proportion of experienced assaults to varying degrees was as high as 94%.

Hollywood is surrounded by the spotlights of the world, but under the gorgeous appearance, it is a rotten gutter that smells bad.

"I... went to the audition, First Blood 4, that bastard... he just..." Although several days had passed, Artis still had a moment of fear in retrospect, it was simply a nightmare.

Her eyes couldn't help but turn red, she raised her hand to take out the tissue on Charlie's table, and sobbed.

Charlie comforted her for a long time before finally calming her down.

"Thank you, Charlie, if it weren't for you... I don't know how I would survive!" Artis gritted her teeth.

"I've decided, it doesn't matter if your conditions are lower, I'm willing to be your HR." Artis hates Hollywood and just wants to leave there forever.

"I was just going to say this. In fact, you will not get any compensation for the time being. Saul spent 132 million US dollars to bail you out, and your criminal record almost fills an A4 paper."

She was actually charged with attempted murder, and she had multiple criminal records. In addition, Weinstein's lawyers obstructed her, and the bail amount directly climbed to a sky-high price.

"It's nothing more than driving after drinking and without a driver's license." Artis explained.

"Drunk driving is almost equal to murder! This is a felony, plus a traffic accident and escape."

"Please, I just crashed the street sign." Artis had an aggrieved expression.

"I think you should re-learn the traffic laws. Although the money will be refunded, it has to wait until after the verdict is pronounced. There will be at least a year and a half or even longer in the middle. Besides, Sol will help you In the lawsuit, you owe me a total of 20 US dollars based on the base interest rate. It takes one year and eight months to work for me, and as for living expenses, the company will help you." Charlie quickly calculated the bill.

"So, do you want to pay the money and leave now, or stay here?"

"I... tell me first, what do you need me to do?" Atis began to think about it.

If the conditions are right, she is willing to accept, anyway, she has nowhere to go now.

"I want you to help me contact those former playmate girls, don't you have something..."

"Sisters Mutual Aid Association." Artis said.

This was set up after her college sorority. At first, she just thought it was fun. Later, more and more people joined, and it gradually evolved into a tool for these girls to communicate privately. Almost [-]% of the people who had worked for the magazine had won model.

"Yes, that's it. I expect to recruit 60 to 70 girls. The premise is that they meet my requirements. Only you can do this job." Charlie said matter-of-factly.

The company signs a labor contract with the model, not an economic contract, which means that girls come and leave quickly, and the average time they stay in the company is no more than three months.

The company made them famous, and they also gained an audience, so they each got what they needed. The two reasons combined meant that their relationship with the company was not deep.

"That's all?"

"Otherwise, do you still want to continue being a model?"

"Not just a model, I majored in financial management in college. While maintaining an average GPA of 3.85, I was also selected for the WCA Women's Volleyball Team." Artis said proudly.

When Atis was a student, she was someone her peers could only look up to.

With good academic performance and outstanding athletic ability, he signed a contract with a modeling agency in Fountain Valley, California, when he was still in his first year of high school at the age of 16.

In college, she directly entered the women's volleyball professional league and served as an outside hitter for the Aztecs.

In the spring of 2000, she transferred to UCLA to continue her studies in public communication, that is, in the swimsuit model competition in Los Angeles, she was spotted by the company's photographers.

"Since you are so powerful..." Charlie's eyes finally fell on her face.

"I happen to be short of a secretary, so you can follow me from now on."

I happen to be in need of a capable secretary, and Atis seems to be a perfect fit in every aspect.

"I can only be a secretary?" Artis couldn't accept this ending, feeling that it was overkill.

"Add the two together, and I'll give you $8000 a month." This was almost twice the average annual income that year.

"That's it. I don't think there's anything wrong with the secretary." Artis turned her face away faster than turning the book.

"The pay is high, and the requirements are naturally high. In addition to being on call 24 hours a day, there must be additional services." Charlie handed her the glass.

"Go make me a cup of coffee."

"Are you looking for a secretary or a servant?"

"To me, there's no difference."

"Then why don't you hire an extra full-time servant? You can save some money that way."

Artis glared at Charlie, grabbed the water glass, and stormed out of the office.

Sol, who had been standing nearby before, came over.

He never left, obviously he had something to say.

"The other party is Weinstein, you have to be mentally prepared to help her." Saul said cautiously, feeling the need to remind Charlie of the risks involved.

A meaningful smile appeared on Charlie's face: "Saul, have you forgotten how we acquired this company?"
