Chapter 655: Breaking the Darkness and Enlightenment

"Does it really take physical contact to put out the fire?"

Xie Que couldn't help but feel hesitant.

The bonfire in front of me looked particularly bright in the darkness.

However, its strange aura caused Xie Que to feel an inexplicable resistance in his heart.

This made it very difficult for him to do it. Who knew if this monk had any other conspiracy?

But now, the most urgent thing for Xie Que is how to dispel the disturbing weirdness that follows him like a shadow in his body.

This weirdness was like a poisonous snake that tightly bound him, making him feel extremely tormented.

Faced with such a dilemma, he seemed to have no choice but to follow the path pointed out by the monk.

Thinking of this, Xie Que's eyes gradually became firm.

He stared at the flickering flame, which seemed to burn everything to ashes.

The inner struggle and hesitation turned into firmness and determination at this moment.

He began to mobilize the Dragon Snake Ring World Sutra in his body, and streams of warm air flowed through his body.

Even under the eerie shadow of the bonfire, Xie Que still maintained a rare level of clarity.

His eyes penetrated the campfire, and his ears were silent.

But this ball of fire swallowed up all prying eyes in endless chaos, making it impossible for him to see anything.

The few thin, black, dry charcoals on the ground could not withstand such burning, but the bonfire continued to burn.

But the fire neither increased nor decreased, and it seemed as if it was not something that should exist in the human world.

Xie Que slowly withdrew his gaze and took a step forward.

At the same time, his figure lengthened and was clearly reflected on the mottled walls of the temple.

At this moment, a monk with a darker complexion quietly appeared in Xie Que's shadow.

His face was calm, his hands slowly turned the rosary beads in his hands, and he chanted extremely strange scriptures in a low voice.

"You mean," Xie Que's voice was low and powerful, as if every word contained infinite weight.
"As long as I come into contact with this flame, can I solve this trouble I'm in?"

The monk nodded slightly: "Yes, after absorbing the Buddha's fire... not only will your problems be solved, but it will also help me achieve nirvana."

Buddha Fire? Xie Que silently chanted this name in his heart.

At this moment, Xie Que strongly suspected that this monk might be trying to lure him into a trap.

However, despite his doubts, he had to admit that

I have reached the end of my rope and have no other choice.

There is no other way except to commit suicide and wait for the revival of the Judgment of Death.

The weirdness contained in this bonfire is so mysterious that even a strong man like him who has realized the great law of cause and effect finds it difficult to uncover its secrets.

The strangeness of this bonfire goes beyond the ordinary world, pointing directly to a deeper and more unpredictable level.
Perhaps only those who have transcended their level can reveal their true face.

Xie Que's thoughts involuntarily drifted to the Buddha of the past.
The transcendent Buddha of the past... the strange bonfire...

What kind of connection is hidden between the two?
Xie Que didn't know, but he still touched the bonfire with his fingers.

When he really got close to the flame, he found that the flame had no temperature at all, so Xie Que did not feel hot.

It burned silently, as if isolated from everything in the world, without transmitting even the slightest warmth.

If he had not seen it with his own eyes, Xie Que would almost doubt whether this bonfire really existed in this world.

As Xie Que slowly approached the bonfire, his figure began to flicker in the light of the fire.

At the same time, the entire bonfire seemed to respond to his approach.

The flames flickered violently, like a candle in the wind.
The monk's figure appeared and disappeared in the interweaving of light and shadow.

At the moment when Xie Que's fingertips lightly touched the flame, the whole world seemed to be touched by an invisible force.

The entire Buddhist world began to fade in an indescribable way, like a faded painting, gradually losing its original color and vitality.

The scene in front of Xie Que was quickly shrouded by a layer of hazy gray fog.

At this moment, a long and deep sigh sounded in Xie Que's ears.

The sound seemed to have traveled through billions of years, carrying endless vicissitudes and relief.

Along with this sigh, an inexplicable feeling surged into Xie Que's mind.

What followed was a Buddhist teaching that came into Xie Que’s mind.

"Breaking the darkness and ushering in the light..."

"It comes from the Buddhist scripture "Dharani Sutra of the Universal Illumination of the Lamp"..."

"At that time, the ancient Buddha Dipamkara appeared in the Akasagarbha world countless kalpas ago, with a great radiant body, illuminating the ten directions and three times. The Buddha told the gods, humans and non-humans, 'I will now expound the method to destroy the dark eye. This method can destroy all ignorance and reveal the true reality.'"

"Then the Buddha chanted the Dharani: 'Anuttara Samyaksambodhi, the light of the lamp shines everywhere, dispelling darkness and bringing light, the wisdom eye opens, and ignorance extinguishes itself.'"

"When sentient beings hear this Dharani, their mind's eyes suddenly open and they see their own true nature. The light shines everywhere without any hindrance or obstruction. This method is called "breaking darkness and enlightening the mind's eyes." It can help sentient beings escape from darkness, see their true nature and become Buddhas."

Suddenly, the Bodhi Dharma Eye appeared between Xie Que’s eyebrows.

As the Dharma Eye opened, a bright lamp seemed to be born from nothingness.
In an instant, it fell into Xie Que's Dharma eyes and merged into one with him.

At the same time, the gray fog shrouding Xie Que's eye mask was dispelled in an instant.

The originally dark and lifeless Buddhist world became bright in his eyes.

Xie Que looked up at the sky, and suddenly his vision became clear.
Many things that were vague and out of reach now become clear.

Originally, I could only see the Buddhist world within three meters, but now I can see as far as a hundred meters away.
And the farther distance, although still shrouded in a layer of light mist, is no longer completely hazy and unknown.

Xie Que took a deep breath, feeling the subtle changes taking place in his body.

He knew that this bonfire could never be that simple.

If this bonfire only brought this peerless magical power,
Then it must have been snatched away by countless powerful people and become a treasure coveted by everyone.
How could it still remain intact for me after such a long time?

When Xie Que looked inward, his body suddenly shook.

He thought that this so-called "breaking darkness and enlightening the mind" was just a magical power that made his vision clearer and his foresight longer-term.
However, at this moment, he was surprised to find that he could actually peek inside his body, where lines of strange words were floating.

Xie Que had once obtained Jing Xuan's memories and had a certain understanding of ancient Sanskrit and other ancient texts.

Therefore he could barely make out the general outline of the words.

He soon realized that these characters were far older and more complex than ancient Sanskrit, and were characters that Xie Que had never seen before.

Among them, there are actually the laws of the great way.

You should know that ordinary language and words often cannot fully capture the charm of the Tao. They can only describe and explain certain aspects of the Tao to a certain extent.

But the words before him were completely different. They could directly record the rhyme of Tao.

Xie Que's eyes were unusually clear at this moment.

He clearly saw that the content recorded in these words was actually a detailed description of his body's functions.

Each character seemed to contain endless information. They were arranged and combined to form columns of detailed data, accurately reflecting every subtle detail of one's body.

What shocked Xie Que even more was that these words not only described his own body functions,
Even the effects of various Dao rhymes that he had once comprehended on his body were directly demonstrated.

For example, when he looked into his own heart, he could clearly see that various great Dao rules, such as the Dao rhyme of nature, the Dao rhyme of blood, and the Dao rhyme of life, were intertwined within it.

These words not only point out the degree to which the body is strengthened after each Dao rhyme is comprehended,
It also lists in detail their respective proportions and their specific uses.

This allowed Xie Que to have a deeper understanding of his own body. He seemed to be able to clearly see the effect of each kind of Tao rhyme in his body.

In addition, these texts also provide a detailed description of Xie Que's muscle content, flexibility, and firmness.

Every piece of data was extremely accurate, allowing him to have a more comprehensive understanding of his physical condition.

"This……"

Xie Que couldn't help but take a deep breath, with an indescribable shock surging in his heart.

For warriors, this magical power is undoubtedly a priceless treasure.

Once a warrior possesses this magical power, he can quickly gain insight into the direction of his own practice.

Even if you encounter bottlenecks or misunderstandings, you can correct them in time.

Make sure you are always on the right path.

Xie Que took another deep breath to calm himself down.
Then he began to carefully search for traces of the "bonfire" between his body and soul.

After a long search, he finally found its location.

But the location of it made Xie Que feel a little scared. That was where the true spirit was.

The true spirit can be said to be the source of a person.

As long as the true spirit still exists, it means that the fire of life is not extinguished. Even if the body and soul are destroyed, there is still a possibility of resurrection.

For a strong person at any level, the true spirit is of vital importance.

Once the true spirit dies, it means the soul will be scattered.

Even Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva cannot save it.

After all, the true soul falling into the underworld is just like starting over again.

After a long period of observation and perception, Xie Que did not find any discomfort in himself, and the uneasiness in his heart gradually dissipated.

Moreover, his energy, blood, spirit and soul no longer flowed away.

"That monk really didn't lie to me..."

Xie Que muttered to himself, his eyes fixed on the flame in his true spirit and the indifferent Death Judgement Chart.

If it wasn't a good thing, the Death Judgement Chart should have played some role long ago.

Unless the status of this fire is higher than the Death Judgment Diagram in his mind.

But Xie Que was sure that even if it was a transcendental power,

It is also impossible to create something as heaven-defying as the Death Judgement Chart.

After all, many of its functions and effects have already surpassed the laws of the universe, and it can simply disregard the rules of heaven and earth.

Therefore, even if the Buddha of the past had transcended and escaped from this bonfire, he should not have such a high status.

Xie Que pondered in his heart, recalling what the monk had just said.

This flame was given the name "Buddha Fire" and it is obvious that it has a connection with the Buddhas.

The oldest and the first to transcend is undoubtedly the past Buddha "Dandong".

He tried to touch the Buddha's fire carefully, but found that it was like a still lake, calm and unaffected by the outside world.

No matter how Xie Que moved it, even if he placed the Death Judgement Chart on it to bake, the Buddha's Fire still maintained its original posture and remained unmoved.

Xie Que let out a sigh of relief and finally gave up the idea of continuing to fiddle with the Buddha's fire.

He knew very well that perhaps only one day in the future,
Only then will you have the opportunity to truly unveil the mystery of the Buddha's fire and understand its origin and function.

Just as Xie Que was about to gather his thoughts and continue on his journey,
A familiar and slightly surprised voice suddenly sounded in his ears:
"what?"

"You are truly fearless... Have you become a Firebringer?"

When Xie Que looked up, he saw Mahakasyapa looking at him with a smile.

He continued, "Since you have become the Fire Bearer, it is even less likely that you will be the future successor."

As he spoke, his tone became lighter: "So why don't you join us and stop time and space in the eternal present, how about that?"

Xie Que frowned: "What do you mean?"

Mahakasyapa smiled and said, "You will understand later."

"Now, why don't you consider whether you want to join us."

Xie Que did not act rashly. After all, in this strange Buddhist world,
After experiencing the Buddha Fire incident, he did not dare to act rashly.

He did not respond directly to Mahakasyapa's question, but asked in a probing tone:
"Do you know what Buddha Fire is?"

Upon hearing this, Kasyapa curled up a faint smile.

"Of course I know." He said softly, with a hint of unquestionableness in his tone.

"Buddha's fire... that is the past time and space, and it is also the remnant of the failed transcendence."

Kasyapa's words were like a flash of lightning, which startled Xie Que. He asked in disbelief, "Failed to transcend? Are you saying that the past Buddhas failed to transcend?"

Mahakasyapa looked at Xie Que with a hint of compassion in his smile.

"You are not so naive as to think that the changes in the Buddhist world today are only due to the invasion of the void, right? Although I have lost my memory of the past Buddha, I can tell you for sure that He... did fail!"

His words were full of regret for the past and firm belief in the present.

“Only my Buddha can truly attain enlightenment in the present, shine in the present, and make it the eternal present!”

After Xie Que heard this, he immediately realized that Mahakasyapa might be talking nonsense.
He also had his memory wiped out by the transcendent Buddha of the past.

But his belief in the "now" made him deny it.

However, Mahakasyapa's words made Xie Que think: Is the past time and space inside this Buddha fire?
Kasyapa flew away in an instant, and before leaving, he also said:
"If you are interested in Buddha Fire, you might as well collect more Buddha Fire... Perhaps you can find the answer you want from it." (End of this chapter)
