Chapter 567: Flood in Hometown

The first ray of sunlight in the morning shone through the gap in the curtains and fell on Lin Ke's face. He slowly opened his eyes, stretched, and a new day began.

"Brother Ke, Brother Ke, something bad has happened!"

Wang Huaiyuan rushed into Lin Ke's room in a panic, holding a mobile phone in his hand, his face pale and his forehead covered with sweat.

Lin Ke frowned slightly and sat up, his sleepiness mostly gone: "What's wrong? You're so flustered, what happened?"

"I... I can't contact my parents!" Wang Huaiyuan cried as he handed the phone to Lin Ke. "Look, the news said there was a flood in my hometown. Many houses were flooded!"

Lin Ke took the phone and saw a piece of news on the screen: Heavy rains hit the southern region, causing floods in many places and some areas were severely affected.

The news pictures were shocking. Muddy floods were raging on the streets, houses were half submerged, and people were struggling to move forward in waist-deep floods.

Lin Ke's heart sank suddenly, and he immediately realized the seriousness of the matter.

"When was the last time you contacted your parents?" Lin Ke asked in a serious voice.

"Just...just last night, I had a video call with them, and they said everything was fine at home and told me not to worry..." Wang Huaiyuan's voice became smaller and smaller, and it was almost inaudible at the end.

"Don't worry, let's calm down first." Lin Ke comforted, but his heart was also full of worries, "Try to call them again and see if you can get through."

Wang Huaiyuan dialed his parents' number with trembling hands, but the only response he got from the other end was the cold prompt tone "The number you dialed is temporarily unavailable."

After trying again and again, he got the same result. Wang Huaiyuan's face became more and more ugly, and despair gradually spread.

"Brother Ke, has something happened to my parents? I can't contact them, I..." Wang Huaiyuan could no longer control his emotions, tears welled up in his eyes, and he choked with sobs and was unable to speak.

Lin Ke stood up, patted Wang Huaiyuan's shoulder gently, and comforted him: "Don't think too much, the communication may be interrupted now, they may just be unable to contact for the time being."

"But...but the news said the floods are very serious, I'm afraid..." Wang Huaiyuan's voice trembled, full of fear and helplessness.

"I know you're worried, and I'm worried too." Lin Ke's tone was firm and powerful. "How about this, let's book a flight back home right now and go to your house to check on the situation in person, okay?"

"But...but we are still on vacation now..." Wang Huaiyuan hesitated.

"In this situation, vacation is no longer important." Lin Ke interrupted him, "Your parents' safety is the most important thing. We must go back immediately!"

"Yeah!" Wang Huaiyuan nodded heavily, with a glimmer of hope in his eyes.

"Pack your things first, I'll go book a ticket." Lin Ke said, picked up his phone and started contacting his assistant to arrange the itinerary.

In less than an hour, Lin Ke and Wang Huaiyuan were already on a plane to China.

On the plane, Wang Huaiyuan kept holding his mobile phone tightly, refreshing the news over and over again, hoping to see the latest information about the disaster in his hometown.

Lin Ke sat aside, his brows furrowed, his heart full of worry.

He knew that this flood was unusual and he had to prepare for the worst. "Huaiyuan, don't worry, we will find your parents." Lin Ke comforted him with a firm tone.

"Well, I believe Brother Ke!" Wang Huaiyuan raised his head, tears flashing in his eyes, but his tone was extremely firm.

The plane flew through the clouds and headed towards China, carrying Lin Ke and Wang Huaiyuan's anxious mood, as well as their concern and hope for their loved ones.

The plane slowly landed at the Capital International Airport of China. Lin Ke and Wang Huaiyuan rushed to the disaster area without stopping as soon as they got off the plane.

"Brother Ke, where are we going now?" Wang Huaiyuan asked anxiously. His hometown is located in the heart of the disaster area, with inconvenient transportation. The current situation is unclear and he is extremely worried.

"I'll contact the local rescue team first to see what the situation is, and then we'll make plans." As Lin Ke spoke, he called his assistant and asked him to help contact the rescue team in the disaster area.

The assistant was very efficient and quickly contacted the local rescue team. He learned that Wang Huaiyuan's hometown was severely affected by the disaster and roads were blocked. The rescue team was trying to find a way to open the road and transport supplies.

"Huaiyuan, the road in your hometown is now closed and the rescue team is repairing it. Let's go to the rescue center first to check out the situation." Lin Ke hung up the phone and said to Wang Huaiyuan.

"Okay!" Although Wang Huaiyuan was extremely anxious, he knew that now was not the time to be willful and he could only follow Lin Ke's arrangements.

The two took a taxi and headed straight to the disaster relief center.

Along the way, the scenes on both sides of the road were shocking. The originally green fields were submerged by floods and turned into a swamp. Broken walls and ruins could be seen everywhere, and the air was filled with a smell of dampness and corruption.

"Master, the disaster is very serious!" Lin Ke looked out the window and couldn't help but sigh.

"Yes, this is a flood that happens only once in a century!" The driver is also a local and witnessed the disaster firsthand. "Many villages have been flooded, and the losses are heavy!"

"Did the government organize any rescue?" Lin Ke asked.

"Yes, the government responded quickly. The army, fire department, and armed police were all dispatched, and many volunteers also came to help spontaneously. What we lack most now is supplies," said the driver.

Lin Ke nodded, already having a plan in mind.

More than an hour later, the taxi stopped in front of the disaster rescue center. When Lin Ke and Wang Huaiyuan got out of the car, they were shocked by the scene in front of them.

The square of the rescue center was crowded with people and disaster victims everywhere. Some of them were sitting on the ground, some had set up simple tents, and some were holding their children with empty eyes and faces full of fatigue and despair.

Lin Ke and Wang Huaiyuan walked through the crowded crowd and came to the lobby of the rescue center.

The hall was crowded with people. Volunteers in uniform were busy moving among the crowd, registering information, distributing supplies and providing medical assistance to the affected people.

"Hello, is there anything I can help you with?" A young female volunteer saw Lin Ke and Wang Huaiyuan and came forward enthusiastically.

"Hello, we are here to check out the disaster and see if there is anything we can help with." Lin Ke said.

"You've come at the right time. What the disaster area lacks most right now is supplies and manpower." The female volunteer said, "We are in urgent need of tents, food, drinking water, medicines, etc. You can go there to register and see what kind of help you can provide."
