Chapter 570: Can’t Stand By and See Someone Die
Lin Ke looked back at Wang Huaiyuan, then at the little girl on the tree. He knew that Wang Huaiyuan was right. The water was rushing fast and going into the water rashly would only result in losing one's life in vain. However, he couldn't bear to watch the little girl in danger.

"What should we do? We can't just stand by and watch him die, right?" Lin Ke stamped his feet anxiously.

"I'll go see if there are any ropes or other tools!" Wang Huaiyuan said, turning and running towards the camp.

Lin Ke looked at Wang Huai's back as he walked away, and he became even more anxious. He looked up at the little girl on the tree and said softly, "Little sister, what's your name? Tell uncle, okay?"

"My name is Xiaoyin." The little girl said timidly.

"Xiaoyin, don't worry, uncle will definitely rescue you, you must hold on!" Lin Ke encouraged.

"Yeah." Xiaoyin nodded and hugged the tree trunk tightly, not daring to relax at all.

Time passed by minute by minute, Wang Huaiyuan had not returned yet, and Xiaoyin's condition was getting worse and worse. Her little face had turned purple from the cold, her lips had lost their color, and her whole body was shaky, as if she would faint at any time.

"Xiaoyin, hold on, uncle will definitely rescue you!" Lin Ke was anxious when he saw Xiaoyin's weak appearance.

"Captain, rope!" Lin Ke shouted to the captain who was organizing supplies in the distance.

The captain came over with a bundle of thick hemp rope in his hand, "Here!"

Lin Ke took the rope and without even saying thank you, he tied one end of the rope firmly to a protruding rock and wrapped the other end tightly around his waist.

"Lin Ke, what are you doing? It's too dangerous!" The captain saw Lin Ke's intention and hurriedly stopped him.

"There's no time to explain, Captain, please hold the rope!" Lin Ke said, took a deep breath, and jumped into the rushing flood.

The cold flood instantly submerged Lin Ke's body. He felt like a fallen leaf, being ruthlessly beaten and torn by the flood.

He tried his best to keep his body balance, while trying to control the direction, swimming towards the big tree where Xiaoyin was.

The rushing water hit Lin Ke's body again and again. He felt his strength was rapidly draining away, but he never gave up because he knew that Xiaoyin's life was in danger. He could not give up or fail.

"Lin Ke, hold on!" The captain and team members on the shore shouted anxiously. They held the rope tightly, fearing that Lin Ke would be washed away by the flood.

Lin Ke gritted his teeth and swam forward with all his might. He felt like his lungs were about to explode, but he still didn't give up because he saw hope. He saw Xiao Yin not far ahead of him.

"Xiaoyin, hold on, uncle is here!" Lin Ke shouted loudly using his last bit of strength.

When Xiaoyin heard Lin Ke's voice, she seemed to see the hope of life. She tried hard to open her eyes and saw Lin Ke swimming towards her hard in the flood. A relieved smile appeared on her face.

"Xiaoyin, don't be afraid, uncle will take you away now!" Lin Ke finally swam to the big tree. He hugged Xiaoyin's cold body and held her tightly in his arms.

"Uncle, I'm scared..." Xiaoyin said weakly. She held Lin Ke's clothes tightly, fearing that he would suddenly disappear.

"Don't be afraid, uncle is here and he will protect you!" Lin Ke comforted her. He untied the rope around his waist and tied Xiaoyin tightly to his back.

"Captain, pull the rope!" Lin Ke shouted towards the shore.

When the captain and team members heard Lin Ke's voice, they immediately worked together to pull the rope.

However, the power of the flood was too strong, and they were unable to pull Lin Ke and Xiao Yin back to the shore.

"No, the water flow is too fast and we can't pull it!" said the captain anxiously.

"What should we do? Should we just give up like this?" The team members were also panicked.

"We can't give up, there must be other ways!" Lin Ke said loudly. He looked around, trying to find a new breakthrough.

Suddenly, he saw a sturdy tree not far away, with its trunk leaning towards the center of the river, like a natural bridge. "Captain, throw the rope over here!" Lin Ke suddenly had an idea and shouted to the captain.

Although the captain didn't understand Lin Ke's intention, he threw the rope in his hand over without hesitation.

Lin Ke took the rope and threw it hard towards the leaning tree.

"Got it!" The rope was accurately wrapped around the tree trunk. Lin Ke was delighted. He grabbed the rope tightly and pulled it hard. His body swung towards the tree with the help of the rope's force.

"Quick, grab my hand!" Lin Ke came to the tree trunk and stretched out his hand to the captain and team members on the shore.

Seeing this, the captain and the team members immediately rushed forward and hurriedly pulled Lin Ke and Xiao Yin up.

"Great, saved!"

"Lin Ke, you are so brave!"

"Xiaoyin, are you okay?"

Everyone gathered around Lin Ke and Xiao Yin, talking at once, their faces filled with joy at having survived a disaster.

Lin Ke looked at the pale Xiaoyin in his arms, gently stroked her hair, his heart filled with infinite pity.

He knew that the pain caused by this disaster would accompany them for the rest of their lives.

However, he believes that as long as they do not give up hope and face the future bravely, they will be able to overcome all difficulties and usher in a better tomorrow.

As soon as Lin Ke's feet stepped on solid ground, he was tightly grabbed by a pair of trembling hands.

"Benefactor! Benefactor! Thank you! Thank you for saving my daughter!"

A middle-aged woman knelt down in front of Lin Ke, tears streaming down her face, her voice trembling, and she could hardly speak.

Beside her, a middle-aged man with tears on his face also knelt down and kowtowed to Lin Ke repeatedly.

"Thank you, benefactor! Thank you, benefactor! If it weren't for you, our Xiaoyin would have been..."

The man burst into tears, and the rest of his words were swallowed by sobs.

Lin Ke quickly helped the couple up. Their hands were cold and their faces were filled with fear and gratitude for having survived the disaster.

"Uncle and aunt, get up quickly. This is what I should do."

Lin Ke's voice was a little hoarse. The long period of physical exertion and mental tension made him feel exhausted.

"Xiaoyin, hurry up and thank uncle!"

The woman wiped away her tears and gently pushed the girl in her arms in front of Lin Ke.

The little girl was about seven or eight years old. Her face was still a little pale, but her eyes had regained their spirit. She looked at Lin Ke timidly and whispered, "Thank you, uncle."

"It's okay, it's okay, you are safe now."

Lin Ke patted the little girl's shoulder gently with a warm smile on his face.

Seeing that their daughter was safe and sound, the couple finally felt relieved. They expressed their gratitude to Lin Ke again, and then left with the little girl.
