239. Summarize the gains and losses of easter eggs and preview the tricks
Summary·Easter eggs·Pros and cons·Preview·Single-partner
Simply put, the second volume is a relatively unsuccessful one.
On a ten-point scale, give yourself four points. Some chapters are well written and create a sense of atmosphere and pictures, while some chapters are very stiff.
There's nothing you can do about it. Serialization is stressful, and your status is always good or bad. Please bear with me.
Generally speaking, the story style of the first volume is more of a legendary koan; the story style of the second volume is more of a gang dispute.
Depending on the style, the writing and content must be adjusted.
Some readers said that for the first time they liked a story but hated the main character.
That's good, and I take it as a high compliment because it shows that I'm not inadvertently glorifying banditry.
The old saying goes!
The foot and teeth of the car and boat shop should be killed even if they are innocent!
It is also said in the book that good and evil cannot be mixed, and merits and demerits cannot offset each other.
Even if a bandit kills a Japanese, he is still a bandit, not a hero.
A hero should have a certain amount of bandit spirit, but a person with bandit spirit may not be a hero.
Many readers also said that some chapters have a strong graphic feel, like movies and TV dramas. If you praise me, I did create this effect consciously.
Towards the end, some characters behave in ways that readers find disgusting.
I can understand this, but what I value more is whether the behavior is consistent with the character. As long as it is consistent, it is fine in my opinion.
Mention a few important figures and controversies.
【Jiang Xiaodao】
Many readers think Xiaodao is stupid, reckless and brainless.
I personally don't agree with it. The two "strings in a row", the Falun Temple's execution of Bai Guoping, and the use of Mao Zi as a cover to kill the Japanese are enough to prove that Xiaodao is not stupid, but he does have limitations.
You can understand that Xiaodao is a tactician with a narrow vision. He can accomplish one thing and has a high success rate.
However, he lacks foresight and is accustomed to looking at one thing in isolation. When it is complicated, he can peel off the cocoons, but he is often easy to ignore and difficult to grasp the changes in the overall situation.
In this regard, Xiaoyan is a complement. Her physical disability makes her unable to be on the front line, but she is more like a strategist.
This is also in line with the setting of water and fire.
Subsequently, Xiaodao's behavior was more in line with the judgment that "a thousand days of friendship will be good, but a day's kindness will turn into ashes."
In addition, to this day, new readers still occasionally complain: How can Xiaodao, a poor and arrogant character, survive so long?
I know that this is due to reading inertia. Many people assume that the protagonist’s parents died when he was young.
But I wrote it very clearly in the first chapter!
At the beginning of the novel, he was thirteen years old. He lost his father at the age of ten and his mother at the age of twelve. He was an orphan for only one year.
It was during this year that he got into trouble and almost suffered disaster. Fortunately, he met Jiang Chenghai.
But my parents took care of me before! Why can't you live so long?
Speechless!
Could you please help me with a few words (bad smile)!
【Hu Xiaoyan】
Xiaoyan is a typical tiger sniffing roses.
She is extremely doting on Si Fengkou and Xiaohua, and is extremely cold-blooded towards potential enemies.
She has some empathy for the lower class, as shown by her attitude toward Trumpet and Fulong, and her willingness to pay for workers' compensation.
Xiaoyan's cruelty is related to her childhood experience and Jiang Chenghai's upbringing. Personally, I think her behavior is defensible.
Well, as for me, I majored in psychology (wry smile, trying to persuade me to give up).
【Gongbao Minami】
Regarding the foreshadowing of Lao Qi, it was mentioned in Chapter [-] of Volume [-].
At that time, Jiang Chenghai and Xu Ruqing had a conversation:
"Lao Qi, everything is good, but he has too many ideas. I always feel that he might get me involved one day."
When Jiang Chenghai was around, Gong Baonan was often prone to making mistakes when it came to children, not because of his disloyalty, but because of his nagging nature.
In the case of Xiaoxue, Lao Qi did get himself involved because of the poisoning and his promise to Bai Yuqing.
【Guan Wei】
Guan Wei Guan Wei is Zhou Yunfu's recruiter (eyes). He is so close to Zhang Jiuye, which is already hinted at.
There is another hint, which appears in Chapter [-] of Volume [-].
At that time, Guan Wei and Gong Baonan were arrested and imprisoned for the second time, and everyone listened carefully to their conversation.
Gong Baonan called Zhou Yunfu by his first name, while Guan Wei said he was an old man, and what he was thinking about was whether the old man would save them.
From this we can see how close and distant we are.
There is also Chapter [-] of Volume [-]. Xiaodao asked him if he had ever been to the secret house in the east of the city.
【Shen Guoliang】
There are many foreshadowings and hints that Lao Wu is a traitor.
Volume [-]·Chapter [-], the background of Lao Wu is the civil strife among the Du family bandits, the young master suppressed the rebellion, and Lao Wu fled.
It shows that he has been a traitor once.
Volume [-] Chapter [-], Jiang Chenghai interrogated Zhao Lingchun and signaled Lao Wu to keep an eye on him.
He deliberately emphasized that Zhao Lingchun had an extra pair of eyes from now on, and Jiang Chenghai would never close his eyes.
Volume [-], Chapter [-], Lao Yanpao and Tie Geda recognized Zhao Lingchun in Huifang, and the first one to react was Lao Wu.
Volume [-] Chapter [-]: After Lao Wu learned about Zhao Lingchun's life experience, Chen Wantang revealed Zhao Lingchun's life experience.
A reader has already guessed it here.
Look carefully and give praise, haha!
【Zhao Guoyan】
Many readers said that the part about persuading Zhao Guoyan to surrender was very embarrassing.
I admit, it is indeed very blunt, extremely blunt. I give myself zero points for this section.
But I think this is purely because I didn't write it well, and the rendering and foreshadowing were not in place. It's not because the reasons are insufficient.
Think back to the situation.
Chen Wantang's failure to rebel was equivalent to being used as a weapon by the Bai family, leaving Zhao Guoyan alone.
Zhao Guoyan shot Feng Baoquan and offended Xu Ruqing; his brothers broke into Jiang's house and offended Jiang Chenghai; the eldest brother rebelled and offended Zhou Yunfu; Chen Wantang had a grudge against the Su family and he couldn't defect to him; the Bai family tricked Chen Wantang and he wouldn't surrender. .
The three families are all at odds with each other, and no one can protect him. Only Jiang and Hu are willing to keep him, and he can survive.
Some people say that Xiaodao is not strong enough and has never beaten Zhao Guoyan.
This is not accurate. Xiaodao cannot defeat Cangzhou Guaizixing alone.
But Xiaodao wanted to capture him alive. If he had to fight to the death, Zhao Guoyan would have died at least twice in Xiaodao's hands.
For details, refer to Volume [-] Chapter [-].
But I don't deny that persuading surrender is indeed a rather blunt approach. The reasons are good, but not written well.
Why did Zhao Guoyan go to visit Guan Wei in the end?
Because Lao Liu almost killed him once.
Xiaoyan sent Zhao Guoyan there, so there was no need to worry that he would be soft-hearted.
Xiaoyan is good at employing people, and there are many details to prove it, so I won’t go into them here.
【Liu Yansheng】
Liu Yansheng joins Jiang Xiaodao in the final chapter of Volume [-], which is a bit abrupt because I changed his story midway.
The original setting was that Tan Renjun died of the great plague, and Liu Yansheng's life hung on by a thread, but he still managed to survive. Later, he met Jiang Xiaodao by chance and was placed in Jiang's house. He saved his life, surrendered to the party, and joined the party. He also contributed when making the list.
This plot line is more reasonable.
However, many readers reported at the time that the pace was a bit slow and the protagonist was a bit marginalized, so it was changed.
Because in the first half of the second volume, Xiaodao does not have much role and is relatively marginal. He has to save it for the second half to exert his strength.
Looking back now, I feel a little regretful. I should have followed the original plan.
Moreover, other readers later reported that the tragedy of the plague was not adequately conveyed.
Ouch! What a dilemma!
…………
Now let’s talk about Easter eggs, which are actually considered foreshadowing.
This book has some delays, but it's not serious.
I can't say against my will that I didn't add water. After all, sometimes if you are short of [-] words, you just have to write a few lines.
But in most cases, I try my best to be clear about what I say and what I mean, without making too many unnecessary remarks.
I want to be like Breaking Bad, there are foreshadowings everywhere, and the characters have to be effective when they appear (I’m bragging, don’t take it seriously)!
Here are some Easter eggs.
【Cigarette Pictures】
In the first chapter of this volume, Jiang Xiaodao buys cigarettes and collects pictures.
It emphasizes that the path has gathered the Jade Emperor, the Supreme Laojun and Tathagata Buddha, which means the three great masters of Fengtian, Zhou, Su and Bai.
Later, Xiaodao opened a "Havoc in Heaven" card, which meant that Xiaodao would be the one who disrupted the situation.
Okay, that's not a particularly apt metaphor, but that's what I thought at the time.
【Sujiazhaizi】
There is always light in the northern branch of Guangyuan Qianzhuang, and the house is filled with green plants. This is related to Su Wenqi's thoughts of saving the nation.
Although Su Wenqi had studied abroad and was dressed in modern clothes, the furnishings in his residence were filled with antique calligraphy and paintings, and he still had a traditional part in his heart.
This can also be seen in his attitude towards Su Yuansheng.
[Bai Baochen's Mansion] Bai Baochen's mansion is purely in Western style. There are no antique calligraphy and paintings in the house, and it is all decorated with gold and silver.
There is a stuffed deer head in front of you, and there are also stuffed eagles, chickens and other stuffs in the room.
If you work for the Japanese, of course your house will be full of beasts!
[The Great Light Bulb Debate]
Volume [-] Chapter [-], Guan Wei and Gong Baonan were imprisoned for the first time, and they had a conversation about light bulbs.
What Gong Baonan was more concerned about was that mosquitoes hitting the light bulbs, separated by a layer of glass, would always be in vain.
Although he did not join the party, his desire for change had emerged. He saw the shadow of reincarnation in Xiaoyan, and then left.
Guan Wei values life and death more, believing that immortality is the best if it is blocked by glass, which foreshadows its ending.
【owl】
The owl, as the signal of Jiang Chenghai, must have a meaning once it appears, and it is impossible to describe it for the sake of description.
Volume [-] Chapter [-]: The night owl comes into the house and comes for everything.
When Jiang Chenghai came to the secret house in the south of the city, an owl flew over and closed one eye.
In the end, Zhou Yunfu was blinded in one eye by Jiang Xiaodao with a red-hot stove hook and died.
Volume [-] Chapter [-]: Eat alive.
Zhao Lingchun went to inform the Bai family and saw an owl eating a mouse alive in the alley.
The mouse's life is worse than death, which foreshadows Zhao Lingchun's ending.
Volume [-] Chapter [-], before smashing the Baijiayao in anger.
The black blind man saw an owl at the door and turned his whole head around, which foreshadowed the black blind man's death. His face was smashed and he was killed by an explosion.
In addition, the black blind man was shouting at the door, and his men advised him to keep his voice down so as not to disturb the master's sleep.
The blind man didn't care at all, implying that the Bai family and his son were not in the mansion at that time.
[HeixiazixLi Tianwei]
Volume [-] Chapter [-], it was said that Li Tianwei once had half of his face licked off by a blind bear.
When the black blind man appeared, it was not surprising that the second child died in his hands.
[My young aunt’s grandma’s white porcelain pot]
Guan Wei and Gong Baonan went to the Bai family's outer house and emphasized that Guan Wei took a look at the white porcelain pot.
Later, when Hu Xiaoyan found Uncle Liu, he also poisoned the white porcelain pot. This was also made clear when Bai Yuqing died.
【Xiaoxue is greedy】
She has been emphasizing this point. Only in this way, it is reasonable for her to secretly drink the white fungus soup when the whole family is quarreling.
【Romance of Sui and Tang Dynasties】
This is a clear sign that brother Jiang Chenghai has turned against him.
[Lao Wu wants to talk before he dies]
It is clearly admitted here that Shen Guoliang regretted it before he died and wanted to tell Zhao Lingchun's life experience, but the knife was too fast.
Therefore, starting too quickly may not necessarily be a good thing.
In addition, before the fourth child Jin Xiaoyi died, he did see the black gun fired by the fifth child.
【Fireworks Celebration】
At the end of the chapter, Hu Xiaoyan and everyone watched the fireworks.
Although the fireworks were beautiful, she smelled the smoke.
It can be regarded as once again emphasizing Xiaoyan's overall view.
…………
Let’s talk about gains and losses.
Why is this volume said to be a failure?
Let’s not say whether this volume is suitable for online writing, but I am certain that it is not suitable for serialization.
Because this is a space where the first and last echoes are far apart.
For example, Ichiro Nakamura, who appeared in the first chapter, only showed his role in the [-]th chapter; Liu Yuqing, who appeared in the fifth chapter, only appeared again in the [-]th chapter.
This will make some impatient readers think that your character is useless and has nothing to do with the plot.
Secondly, although this volume cannot be said to be a point-of-view character writing method, the three major characters do play a heavy role in the early stages.
Herein lies a problem.
When a plot happens, I have to explain the different reactions of three people to the same thing, because the characters do not have a God's perspective, and they are all very important.
Therefore, it will appear that one thing is interpreted from different angles.
As a result, the rhythm of the plot seems to be dragging, making it very unsuitable for following reading. You have to read it in one sitting to feel the interest.
I have to say here, everyone who is studying, thank you for your hard work!
On the other hand, I can’t say how well I wrote the group portraits, but this volume does have a lot of characters that have the potential to become protagonists.
Su Wenqi's line, from supporting the party to finally protecting the family; Zhao Lingchun's line, revenge; Chen Wantang's betrayal; including Hu Xiaoyan's growth process...
Many characters have clear contexts, which resulted in the protagonist Xiaodao being relatively marginalized in the early stages.
In terms of online writing, this should be considered a taboo, right?
On the other hand, in this volume, I also felt the limitations of text.
I am indeed intentionally creating the look of a film or television drama, but there is a problem here.
For example, take "The Romance of the Sui and Tang Dynasties" as a hint. If it is placed in a corner of the film and television screen, it is a hint; but once it is implemented in words and written out, it becomes explicit.
And when the fourth child died, the picture in my mind was that the fourth child's hand finally fell, seemingly inadvertently, but finally landed in the direction of the fifth child. But the text cannot be written like this, it is clearly stated as soon as it is written.
Another point is the outline.
During the writing process, it is normal to adjust the outline.
Writing in a strict and rigid manner, there is no spirituality and rigidity. The example of persuading Zhao Guoyan to surrender is an example.
The counter-example is Bai Yuqing. In fact, there is no such person in the outline...
But now I feel that she is the most outstanding and three-dimensional person in the three families.
At the same time, it was precisely because of the appearance of this character that many readers felt uncomfortable when the Bai family was wiped out.
This is good. After all, it’s a massacre. Discomfort is the real reaction.
If the Bai family was completely flat and stereotyped, the case of annihilation would not be so profound.
Finally, let’s talk about text.
Due to the pressure of serialization, the writing is obviously not as sharp and concise as the first volume.
I should be pretty diligent, my writer's assistant said I am more than 90% of authors!
Keen readers will notice that the text in the first volume is relatively "thin", while the text in the second volume is a little bloated. This is because the pressure of serialization is too great. Newcomers, please bear with me.
Many people said that the first volume was like Tian Xia Ba Sing in some places, which was so flattering.
Ba Chang's writing skills are concise and powerful, and his writing is very restrained, not inferior to that of serious writers.
However, in fact, the one who influenced me the most was Acheng, or to be precise, the "Three Kings", and being romantic was a bit too much.
I have read "Three Kings" for many years, but to this day, when I have trouble writing, I will still pick it up and read it, wash my eyes, and then look at what I have written with a frown on my face, and delete everything.
But when I write character dialogue, I generally stick to purely colloquial language.
In addition, no one thinks that the character Zhao Lingchun has the shadow of Ge Weilong?
At least, when I wrote about her receiving the jewelry, I was thinking of the character Ge Weilong.
…………
Okay, after writing this long, it’s time to give a preview of Volume [-].
As mentioned before, the first volume is in the style of legendary koans; the second volume is in the style of gang disputes; and the third volume will of course change the style again.
It will definitely no longer be so bitter and grudge-filled.
The third volume is called "Huangqiangzaoban", which focuses on a non-tonal style.
They are all serious people with serious faces, but they cause many ridiculous farces.
Jiang Lianheng will also set up his own business while laughing and scolding, and become famous all over the world.
All the eight gates of light and darkness will appear, and all kinds of scams will also be laid out.
The familiar tuanchun and storytelling styles will also return.
Someone asked before why the slang was gone in the second volume, and it was a little less flavorful.
Actually, it has something to do with the storyline.
Spring point is originally a code word for the old friends who run around in the world to recognize each other, or it is a pretense to make it inconvenient for outsiders to reveal the truth. If there is no old friend who has nothing to do and spend time with his family, he is called a patient.
Only when you go out and meet new people do you feel the need to spend time together.
Stay tuned!
…………
Secondary! Cliche! Need a lot of extras!
There are some familiar IDs that I have already booked in advance, such as Li Genlang, Chun Chun is just a nickname, it would be a shame not to use it!
I don’t think I’m a waste of a name. The main reason is that this nickname is not easy to adjust. It has to fit the personality and have a flavor. I hope everyone can help me create it.
The requirement is to write down what kind of job you are in, your gender, your real name, your nickname, and your specialties. I may make fine adjustments according to the needs of the plot, mainly in terms of location, but I still have to follow the plot.
Everyone, please leave it in the comment area. You can open a separate post, it doesn’t matter, or you can wait for me to open a post, just to help me increase the discussion!
Also, strategically take time off today.
After all, if you want to open a new volume, you need to think carefully about the entry point, including subsequent development, and try to make it more complete than the second volume. At the same time, you should avoid the problems of the second volume and try to develop the story in compact sections.
Why! That alliance leader, don't run away! Come back (Xiang Yulian)!
I will definitely pay back whatever you owe!
The main reason is that the second volume is coming to an end and I need to think about it. There are still many big chapters. I didn't split them into top, middle and bottom, so I seemed lazy. Don't worry, don't worry!
It’s only seven chapters, it’s okay!
Thank you for your hard work for listening to me talk so much!
