Conan: I'm really not the mastermind behind the scenes

Chapter 308: Black and Black in the Bureau

If you ask who was the busiest person after the embassy explosion, the murder of missing American soldiers, and the Suzuki Tower sniper incident, the answer is definitely not the FBI who came from afar.

But it was the unlucky Japanese police and public security.

When Zhu Fu Jingguang opened the car door and got out, he felt a headache as he was already accustomed to working late at night. He suppressed his fatigue and turned his head to look to the side.

The doors on both sides of the black Chevrolet parked in the next parking space opened at the same time, and Aoyagi Akimitsu and Akai Shuichi got out together. Both of them looked much happier than him.

The junior who was sitting in the passenger seat also got out. He had a pair of obvious dark circles under his eyes and looked up at the tall building in front of him with a nervous expression.

"Senior, are we going up now?"

Because of the explosion yesterday afternoon, the bodies of the missing soldiers were found at the scene, and they were busy with this incident almost the entire afternoon. The FBI agents flew here for more than ten hours, which was already tiring, so they returned to the hotel to rest in the evening, leaving them alone to work overtime.

It was not until this morning, when all the autopsy reports came out and the nearby surveillance and witnesses were checked one by one, that they began to investigate Hunter's interpersonal relationships.

Considering that most of those people were former US military soldiers, they arranged for an FBI agent and a Japanese police officer to work together as a team to question them.

Zhu Fujingguang is a public security officer involved in the investigation, so he is naturally responsible for people with more important identities - the current base consultant, former commander Mark Spencer, and a chief of staff in the base who also participated in that battle and may know Hunter.

This was the first time that Zhu Fushi Jingguang officially entered a U.S. military base in his own country, and he was visiting a former senior official as an inquirer. He was able to remain calm, but his junior who had just joined the public security department obviously could not.

Zhu Fu Jingguang looked at his nervous juniors and sighed silently in his heart.

When the two FBI agents next door looked over, he whispered, "You will follow Akai later. Don't talk nonsense. Akai will lead the questioning. Listen carefully and remind me if I miss anything."

This was what they had discussed in the car. Zhu Fushiki followed Aoyagi Akimitsu to ask the commander with a higher position, while the junior and Akai Shuichi went to ask the chief of staff.

When Morobushi Kagemitsu was undercover in the organization, he had worked with Shuichi Akai before, and had some understanding of his personality and abilities. He knew that he would not make any mistakes, and he was only saying this to comfort his junior.

When the junior heard this, his expression really improved, and he nodded seriously. When the two sides were about to separate and go to different office buildings, he followed Akai Shuichi without looking back.

After watching the junior leave, Zhu Fu Jingguang walked up to Qing Liu Bingguang.

"Sorry to have kept you waiting, Mr. Aoyagi."

Perhaps out of habit, he and Akai Shuichi had been "colleagues" and were used to calling him by his last name; but to Aoyagi Akimitsu, who was younger than him, he politely used honorifics.

"fine."

Aoyagi Bingguang smiled politely and turned to look at the tallest building in the base.

"Let's hurry up. I called him last night and told him we would visit today."

……

Ten floors.

The sun was shining brightly in the morning, shining through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The consultant's office had a good orientation, facing the port, and a cross-sea bridge could be seen in the distance.

As the case was quite serious, after the black tea was served, the two visitors did not exchange too many pleasantries and went straight to the point.

"Mr. Spencer, the Japanese police and the FBI have already identified the suspect. We are here today to ask you a few questions."

Zhu Fu Jingguang sat on the sofa in a proper manner, with his back straight. Since Aoyagi Akimitsu had said when he came up that this consultant was used to speaking Japanese during his time in Japan, he used his native language to communicate.

Al Qaeda consultant Mark Spencer stood in front of the French window with his hands behind his back, listening to their purpose. Without turning his head, he asked, "Since you came to me, is the suspect an American?"

"Yes." Qing Liu Bingguang took over the conversation. Compared with Zhu Fu Jingguang next to him, his sitting posture seemed much more casual, with one arm resting on the armrest of the sofa and his chin lazily supporting his body.

He briefly recounted yesterday's intelligence meeting, and then added: "Timothy Hunt, a former Navy SEAL sniper. His wanted warrant should have been issued immediately after the meeting, but some people felt embarrassed and did not agree, resulting in the media and the public not knowing about it for the time being. This issue is still under negotiation."

"We want to know if you have had any contact with Hunter recently?"

Mark Spencer turned around and looked at Aoyagi Akimitsu and answered bluntly: "No."

Zhu Fu Jingguang had already heard the problem by then.

The consultant obviously knew Hunter - if one did not know him or had no deep impression of him, the normal person's first reaction upon hearing the name would be "Who is he? What does he look like?" to confirm their memory rather than directly denying it.

Considering that it was the US Embassy that was bombed, he did not immediately doubt the other party's position, but instead asked a question in a tactful way:

"Mr. Spencer, are you familiar with Hunter's past?"

Hearing this question, Mark Spencer uttered a clear cold snort.

"He violated the rules of war and was stripped of the Silver Star for that." He spoke coldly, his voice full of contempt. "I was very optimistic about him at the time. I even applied for that medal for him. But he did that on the battlefield."

Zhu Fu Jingguang heard his unhappiness, but did not ask any further questions and fell silent for a while.

After all, this is a US military base. Even though the police can investigate and inquire at will in other places and become legal outlaws in the eyes of the citizens, they must be careful in what they say and do here.

However, Aoyagi Binkou beside him did not have such concerns.

The FBI agent who had just pointed out the delay in the wanted order picked up the milk and slowly poured it into the black tea in front of him. He also whispered to Zhu Fujingguang, and after getting permission, poured the other portion in.

Qing Liu Bingguang picked up the cup and took a sip slowly, then suddenly said:
"I heard that after Hunter was stripped of his Silver Star and returned to the Middle East battlefield from the United States, he went to you to seek justice. Is this true?"

"That's exactly what happened."

Mark Spencer looked at Qing Liu Bingguang with an obscure expression: "He even broke into my command room directly. I was receiving an important guest at the time, so I drove him away."

“…Oh? I see.”

Aoyagi Binguang suddenly put the cup back on the table, and the sound of it hitting the room was so loud. Because he only took a sip, the half-full cup of tea almost spilled out.

Zhu Fu Jingguang noticed that Qing Liu Bingguang's mood became bad, and looked at him with some confusion.

"You're still like this."

Mark Spencer obviously heard the dissatisfaction in that blow and began to lecture him:
"When talking to you normally, you always get angry for no reason. Others don't know how to provoke you. You have made no progress since you were a child... He really should have put you in a military school and let you hone your skills on the battlefield..."

Zhu Fu Jingguang listened to this lecture and saw that Qingliu Bingguang's face was visibly getting worse, so he began to smooth things over and tried to change the subject.

"Mr. Spencer, are you aware of Hunter's interpersonal relationships? For example, are there some soldiers in this base who also participated in that war and might be able to assist him?"

Mark Spencer stopped criticizing and looked at Zhu Fujingguang with a frown.

Zhu Fu Jingguang felt a sudden chill on his back.

This was the first time the consultant had looked him in the eye since they entered the room... but for some reason, he felt that the other party seemed to be particularly repulsive to him, and that look made him very uncomfortable. (End of this chapter)
